UV will affect the plastic over a long period of time, but the ivory should look even better with a little yellowing. UV resistant varnishes would help, or I guess an ivory enamel would be an option.

As far as dust and dirt, plastics can pick up a static charge, but I would think attachment to metal would negate that.

I would definately probably want to seal the plastic, this light color any oils or carbons would probably show up easily and may soak into the surface of the plastic or adhere itself into the "grain".

We're going to have to keep this color in mind for me.....

Anyone know what this even is????

Appears to be some sort of cover that is supposed to get oil flung up on it and then drip back down. A local dropped the part of with my folks. Not sure what it is but the print sure is looking nice!

K a set of GT 14 dash and console plates are headed to @buckrancher. Once he tries 'em out we should be able to add those to the store.

Model for upper D dash is complete, but I need to a hole alignment test before we try a full print on those. Getting to start model of the lower D dash portion here in the next day or so.

New batch of black filament should be in at any moment so I can hop on some orders that require it, get the thompson magazine catch finished, and a couple custom black grenade tops. Then on to the D dash hole alignment test, and printing some GT 14 stuff once we get confirmation on thise.

:woohoo:

I'm looking forward to that. Once you have a supply of the standard ones made I have a "Special Orders Don't Upset Us" custom order to discuss with you.  :handgestures-thumbupright:

Didn't get a chance to try them yet. They arrived while I was in PA and VA the last several weeks. Just got home yesterday and my internet was down :angry-banghead: Just got that working, borrowed my neighbor's star-link for now. I'm getting my own now. :banana-linedance:Tired of intermittent internet :bitch:

Done with this prototype! Theres a few changes for the final versions including a more sturdy rubber band catch which failed on this one and I'll use different filament for a better finish. but this one ia ready to hang on a wall! I got the mag catch working and installed the new sling hardware

They don't fit :sad-darkcloud: I have one from Glen Pettit a while back that fits. I think @wheelhorseman has some new ones from Glen's old inventory. I can send you the one I have for measurements or maybe @wheelhorseman can help with measurements?

Full refund issued! That looks like half an inch off! I just sent a plate to buckrancher along with his original, and they line up. Is there a variance of dash sizes I'm missing?

Here are my measurements. The dash plate in the pictures is from Glen Pettit

Looks like right at 11 at the widest or there abouts. And my model clearly shows 10.583.

Hopefully @buckrancher can shed some light. Maybe I completely missed a half inch difference from the print and the dash I've worked with on and off for 2 years? Dear lord somebody shoot me if that's the case!:confusion-scratchheadblue:

@cafoose would you mind sending me a tracing of the dash that fits? It should fit nicely on a regular piece of paper. I originally traced the large portion first including holes and openings, then tipped the dash keeping it aligned and traced the top portion and switch holes.

I can send you the actual dash that fits but I need to remove it from the tractor if that works for you. Either way I would have to remove it anyway. I can remove it tomorrow. I think you would be able to see the differences better if you had the actual dash plate that fits.

Thank you so much! I just heard back from @buckrancher and his is short too, but so is the original! Apparently somehow it SHRUNK that much! He removed it from the dash, tossed in a box, and sent to me. I did my original sketches and measurements right after it arrived! CRAZY!

Just glad to know I'm not crazy, I was about to hang up my calipers!

I not only sent you the dash but I was also able to remove the housing that the dash plate screws on to. I'm in no hurry if you need to keep the housing until the big show if you are going. You can get it back to me then or if you want to keep it so you can verify the dash plates you make will fit then you can trade me an extra dash plate for it, your choice :D

Not a bad idea especially now that I know they can tend to shrink!

Do you know if the material you use maintains it's original size or can that shrink?

Thanks for doing that, we are all looking forward to a successful conclusion to this.

My guess is that the UV shrinks the plastic and since we tend to keep our GT-14s under cover when not in use shrinkage isn't going to be an issue.

I would have never imagined 1/2 in over 11 inches of shrinkage, all plastic can warp and heat and uv and could imagine regular expansion and contraction with these but nothing else. I guess REALLY high temps could be a factor(over 150 C). When I've had to weld some of this plastic it actually tends to swell when I get the iron on it.

I’m building a lowered 300 series wheelhorse. So far it’s a combination of 3 scrap tractors.
the frame, trans and tins are from a GT2500 anniversary special given to me by a neighbor with a trashed Briggs. The Kohler M12 is from a junkyard 312 that was roached. The parts tractor I’m using for the build was another older 312. I’ve got the k301 in the garage. The trans was toast. Both axles wallowed out keyways and 1 axle actually broken.
Anyway! I needed a project and a toy to putt around the neighborhood. I couldn’t find any other posts on how to do the whole thing. I’m trying to keep it cheap using stuff I have on hand and looking as “stock but cooler” as possible. So here we go.
I’ll update this as I go along.
