I removed the engine tin and cleaned out the Rodent Ramada.

 

The drive belt spun off the transmission pulley which is rusted to the point of breakage. That's good because it saved me removing the belt. 

 

 

There are some places/things about the tractor that are quite solid.

Steering wheel has the original cap. Steering system is nice and tight.

Seat back has been replaced and is nice. Seat base is original and very good.

The hitch pin and one hub are loose.

The muffler is an OE Nelson and rock solid.

I did find why it may have been parked originally. The voltage regulator wires were leaning heavily on the steering shaft and worn through. From what I understand about SSI systems it's likely not working because of that but we'll see later.

 

Over the years the transmission has frozen up. Not a serious issue as we have a couple spares.

All you need to fire that module is a long extension cord and a soldering gun. The magnetic field created by the gun windings will fire that plug 60 times a second!! It is a Tecky. Don't make things worse throwing Ford parts at it!

So here's the current plan:

Even though the Military Display show at Owls Head was cancelled Trina still wants to build herself a Military Tribute Tractor using the 856 gifted to her by @Herder Adam.

 

I want the Charger Hydro done ASAP so can get some run time on it use it for winter.

Then Colossus so it'll be ready for spring '21 forestry season.

 

Then... This ole girl is next in line.

 

Not to mention Trina's house painting project.

And all the other 74 million things she does.

 

 

So it'll be a bit.

 

 

 

 

This post makes me happy bcuz i no longer feel foolish for liking WH so much that i have only 1 complete (done) tractor, n two projects.

N jus so you know, i woulda loved to add your Techy powered C160 to the herd...those two snowblowers in the 1st pic (upper lefthand corner n middle right of pic; ik, hard to spot thru all the clutter! Lol) ive posted are both powered by'em; a 7 n 8hp, respectively...n they are a fine beast of a motor when setup n tuned right, thankyou verymuch😊

A while back I acquired a 1966 Sears Suburban that had been repowered with an OH160.  When I saw how a replacement carb cost, I almost scrapped the engine! Luckily I came across an obscure post noting that a Kohler K341/K321 carb could be made to work. I know this is a long term project and I wanted to drop this note in here in case it becomes relevant later.   $20 instead of $200+.

No idea if this carburetor is any good. It's free and moving so that's a good sign. I do have a spare Kohler 16 horse carb.
