Oh by the way... @WHX24 will be happy to know this C will be a real proper colored Red restoration.

We will believe that when we see it!

If Eric moves at his usually pace, we might get to see it run in a year or two.  :ychain:

I'll s'pose I'll just keep the restoration thread going right here.

@Sparky maybe you could push it over to the Restoration Section?

I removed the engine tin and cleaned out the Rodent Ramada.

The drive belt spun off the transmission pulley which is rusted to the point of breakage. That's good because it saved me removing the belt.

There are some places/things about the tractor that are quite solid.

Steering wheel has the original cap. Steering system is nice and tight.

Seat back has been replaced and is nice. Seat base is original and very good.

The hitch pin and one hub are loose.

The muffler is an OE Nelson and rock solid.

@Docwheelhorse

I did find why it may have been parked originally. The voltage regulator wires were leaning heavily on the steering shaft and worn through. From what I understand about SSI systems it's likely not working because of that but we'll see later.

Over the years the transmission has frozen up. Not a serious issue as we have a couple spares.

Agreed.

But it uses a Ford abs sensor too.

All you need to fire that module is a long extension cord and a soldering gun. The magnetic field created by the gun windings will fire that plug 60 times a second!! It is a Tecky. Don't make things worse throwing Ford parts at it! :teasing-poke::teasing-poke::hide::text-imsorry::lol:

I posed that very question to her yesterday.

No names have popped up yet.

We figure it'll name itself soon enough.

We did actually talk about that...

So here's the current plan:

Even though the Military Display show at Owls Head was cancelled Trina still wants to build herself a Military Tribute Tractor using the 856 gifted to her by @Herder Adam.

I want the Charger Hydro done ASAP so can get some run time on it use it for winter.

Then Colossus so it'll be ready for spring '21 forestry season.

Then... This ole girl is next in line.

Not to mention Trina's house painting project.

And all the other 74 million things she does.

So it'll be a bit.

:techie-hourglass:

This post makes me happy bcuz i no longer feel foolish for liking WH so much that i have only 1 complete (done) tractor, n two projects.

N jus so you know, i woulda loved to add your Techy powered C160 to the herd...those two snowblowers in the 1st pic (upper lefthand corner n middle right of pic; ik, hard to spot thru all the clutter! Lol) 20200701_192408.jpg.1cfecab9ef6706df462786ba3fdc3e7e.jpgive posted are both powered by'em; a 7 n 8hp, respectively...n they are a fine beast of a motor when setup n tuned right, thankyou verymuch😊20200608_112616.jpg.2406d11d832d6ac92586b014bbd8b654.jpg

Thanks for easing my mind, Friend😊

A while back I acquired a 1966 Sears Suburban that had been repowered with an OH160.  When I saw how a replacement carb cost, I almost scrapped the engine! Luckily I came across an obscure post noting that a Kohler K341/K321 carb could be made to work. I know this is a long term project and I wanted to drop this note in here in case it becomes relevant later.   $20 instead of $200+.

Thanks!!

No idea if this carburetor is any good. It's free and moving so that's a good sign. I do have a spare Kohler 16 horse carb.

I appreciate you dropping that note so I can look back at it later.

Any thoughts how to find the post that you had looked at?

This is a very rare 1978 Wheelhorse C161 twin 8 speed garden tractor. For Sale
Made in 1978-1979, these tractors were originally going to be C171's but Kohler had problems with the 17hp twin that was supposed to be used, so wheelhorse put a 16hp briggs and Stratton twin in them. The bonnets were made out of fiberglass to save having to set up expensive tooling so they had a new look but still would fit on the older style frames. These 161 twins are therefore a bit of a cross over model from the old C series unto the new one, with some rather unique features.
Here in the UK there is only a handful of these and there can't have been many brought over in the first place, making it a very rare collectors piece and a great little tractor to take to shows.

It also comes with a reprint of the 1978 brochure featuring the tractor.
It is in full working order apart from the lights which I don't think are properly connected. The engine runs well and starts easily, however the exhaust has seen better days though I have not addressed this as being a V-twin it does sound quite good and has previously been rebuilt.

The gearbox selects all gears and goes from high to low easily, also the mower deck has no rust in it at all and cuts grass well.
The tyres have been replaced and have seen very little use on them.

Both the bonnet and the seat pan are in very good condition, this is very unusual as they are fibreglass and plastic and can easily be broken if not careful. It also still has both its rear light lenses and a recreation of the original front light lens.

Please see the pictures as part of the description any questions please ask.
collection only or could deliver for the cost of fuel if discussed prior to a sale.
      viewings welcome.

C - Series, Hood and Sheet Metal (square black insert) (also known as black hood models) for sale!

This sheet metal set, including C Series Hood, Dash piece, Seat Bracket, and Left & Right-Side Covers, and Left & Right Floorboards was sandblasted, epoxy primed, and painted the OEM Wheel Horse Red Paint.

The painted set is not perfect, a little metal pitting on one of the floorboards, a few little imperfections in the paint here and there as I'm a rookie painter, but this is a nice painted set of sheet metal to freshen up your C Series Wheel Horse!

312-8 - Runs, new carb, ignition doesn't work. Was bought for parts, ended up being mower. Rear Attach-a-matic bracket
417-8 - Runs well, electric lift, ignition may need cleaned (or started solenoid going). Rear Attach-a-matic bracket
      (1) 42" RD with mule drive. Cuts well!
      (1) 48" SD with mule drive.
      (1) 37" SD.
      (1)  48" snow plow. 5 way blade position I believe.
Several other parts/WH odds/ends. One tractor does include the weights and chains.

Parents are moving and, unfortunately, need to thin the herd!

      Hello,

I am hoping someone can help my. I recently acquired a c160 for the engine for another tractor. So I did a motor swap and wanted to see what the hydro was like. I put a plow on it C-160 (which now has a 12hp engine on it). I did a quick test run and everything was good. I drained the fluid and change the filter (Napa 1410 filter and sae 30 transmission fluid as it stated to only use this fluid on the tractor.) everything was working great after the fluid change. I plowed two driveways and the sidewalks near my house... all the sudden the tractor would not go forwards or in reverse. I tried to pick the plow up and nothing... I checked my drive belt it was turning like it should. I started to push the tractor and the rear was engaged so it would not move. Of course I was 400’ from my driveway and the plow was down which made it fun. I put the tractor in forward and started to push it and the thing took off. So I hopped on and took it to the front of the garage. I put it in revers and it cut out again so I pushed it in the garage. Today I went out to check the tow valve. I took it out and cleaned the threads up put it back in and it did not change anything. According to the dipstick I have the proper amount of fluid in it. I did have a drip that I fixed on the cylinder still nothing... does anyone out there have any tips to help me out? I’ve never had a transmission like this only manual transmissions. The model of this transmission is the sundstrand 90-1140.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Brian
