MainelyWheelhorse 2,143 #1 Posted October 9 Hi all, lately I’ve been working on the C-141 Automatic tying up loose ends. I’m working on the parking brake, and aren’t sure if the spring setup is like the 8 speeds, Or if it’s just the one spring like what’s on it now. I’ve looked it up online. The schematic pictures don't really show well how the brake goes together. Any assistance on figuring out the parking brake setup is appreciated. TIA.

953 nut 62,565 #3 Posted October 9 Take a look at this great thread from @cleat that documents his restoration, it probably has what you are looking for on page 11.
ebinmaine 74,934 #4 Posted October 9 That thread's tractor has an Eaton trans. A C141 has a Sundstrand. Is the linkage the same? Here's a link to some of the posts in the middle of the thread for the tractor we built for my parents. As you know, we now have that so I can get you pictures if it helps.
MainelyWheelhorse 2,143 #5 Posted October 9 @ebinmaine I’ve looked through that thread and didn’t see what I was looking for. I’m looking for the spring setup on the parking brake. Looking at some threads with similar tractors I didn’t see any noticeable springs that returned the lever to unlocked like the 8 speeds do. Since it was a parts tractor I wanted to make sure I had all the parts. @953 nut thanks for the help. @c-series don I’ll check that out once you post it.

Eric, your pictures probably will be helpful to @MainelyWheelhorse though I think the parking brake linkage is the same on the Eaton 1100. When I changed from the Sundstrand Hydro-gear to Eaton 1100 the linkage was very different but the later piston to piston on the C-XX1 has about the same parking brake set-up as the Eaton's. 1 hour ago, MainelyWheelhorse said: I didn’t see any noticeable springs that returned the lever to unlocked like the 8 speeds do. You are looking for the spring that connects to the parking brake cam or lever inside the tunnel where the direction control lives, is that correct? I have a photo of the spring that returns the parking brake as installed on my GT-14. I had to use some 10-32 bolts in place of the Wheel Horse attachment points due to this being a modification but the hook up should be the same as yours. Just found the picture. MainelyWheelhorse 2,143 #9 Posted October 9 I’m looking for how this (white circle) is set up. Looking at it now, It looks like it’s set up right looking at @953 nuts pictures and @gwest_cas picture. I figured there would be some sort of return like the 8 speeds but I guess not. My return spring is pretty shot though. Thanks for the help! 1

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,776 #11 Posted October 9 See there are two #1230 springs in there https://www.partstree.com/models/81-14ks01-c-141-toro-lawn-tractor-1978/clutch-brake-and-speed-control-linkage-2-7/ Adding - looks like the 1230 was replaced by 83-2820 but it is no longer available either. 1
