@Wheel Horse 3D If these tanks work out,  the tanks for the WH Suburbans and RJ’s should be next on your list.  Used ones are selling for over $100 on Evil Bay and are usually so rusty you have to seal them. The Suburban and RJ tank are the same size and shape, but inlet and outlet are in slightly different locations. Also they are a lot smaller,   I’ll try to find some pictures.

Unfortunately the long print times on these won't allow them to be uber inexpensive, but judging from the weight of the tombstones and how hefty they are, the final product should be very heavy and durable. If I recall, the suburbans and RJ's shouldn't be nearly as large and heavy, so hopefully we can get those down to a more reasonable price. I'll be doing all tanks in a gray color as it is much less expensive and easy to paint.

@Wheel Horse 3D

There are lots of ideas of things you could make for our Wheel Horses.

Is there a filament that would make good replacement rubber engine mounts?

Something that would be firmer than the rubber, but maybe absorb a little vibration better that the solid mounts.

Could they be made at a lesser cost that Zacks $45 solid steel mounts?

Replacement rubber engine mounts?

Ya know that's a great idea. I had been wanting to eliminate the shaker mounts on Dug due to too much flex and my brain was fixated in machined ones, but I dont know why good solid plastic ones wouldnt work.

Seems to be a hot topic these engine mounts.

Here's what I made for my 512-D. Made from polyurethane and scrap steel.

More durable and a bit harder than rubber but more forgiving than solid mounts.

The Smithsonian actually had a bunch of 3d files of different dinosaur dinosaur bones. Always wanted a custom painted Sinclair concrete dino out in the yard. Spent some time in Utah for work out by Dinosaur National Monument very cool! Wish I'd have scanned a bunch of stuff.

For some reason I have developed a liking towards Sinclair memorabilia. Have a fair collection of tin signs, hats, etc. A bit weird considering Wisconsin does not have any Sinclair stations.

Neighbor has an 8ft concrete Sinclair dino, kinda jealous. :D

Engine mounts modeled! This is of course to eliminate the rubber shaker mount. It'll have a little flex  but not much. We could find a nice 3/8 ID hose to put in the center and expand our center hole to accommodate.

What kind of joint between the tank halves are you planning on?  Half lap?

Pretty much. I added an inside rib that sticks up above the joint. The top then nests down onto the base.

I did make one change to the bottom. I shifted the outlet down a little more. So future bottoms the hole is right down level with the inside bottom surface.

Just out of curiosity, have you filled the bottom half of the tank with water to check for leaks?

This was a few years back, but a couple of the younger engineers at work made a print with maybe 20% infill.  When it was done, they mixed up some resin and poured it into an opening they had left in the print.  There were enough leaks that they had a had a real mess on their hands, and table, and floor......

Lol. I haven't checked yet. This was done at 100 percent infill, but I would still recommend a tank sealer. Just knowing how these layers lay down even with extra wall layers etc.i'd still use a tank sealer.

I’m building a lowered 300 series wheelhorse. So far it’s a combination of 3 scrap tractors.
the frame, trans and tins are from a GT2500 anniversary special given to me by a neighbor with a trashed Briggs. The Kohler M12 is from a junkyard 312 that was roached. The parts tractor I’m using for the build was another older 312. I’ve got the k301 in the garage. The trans was toast. Both axles wallowed out keyways and 1 axle actually broken.
Anyway! I needed a project and a toy to putt around the neighborhood. I couldn’t find any other posts on how to do the whole thing. I’m trying to keep it cheap using stuff I have on hand and looking as “stock but cooler” as possible. So here we go.
I’ll update this as I go along.
