ebinmaine 71,953 #1 Posted November 2, 2020 @Oldskool is going to help me out with an ID tag for Trina's upcoming military tribute 856. I know there are several of us that have or know of military themed tractors. I'm looking for suggestions for a name such as we already use like Cinnamon or Pony but with a military theme. Something like an ID acronym or the like. The tractor was a generous gift from @Herder a couple years ago. It will be using gray wheels with ag tread tires from @Sparky. The engine to be used is a mid-70s, we think, Chrysler built 1.5 rated horse single cylinder I got from @Stepney. Very simple build. Three-speed. No wiring whatsoever because it is a drill or rope start. @OldWorkHorse @953 nut @pfrederi @JCM @pullstart @WHX24 @WheelhorseBob 1

WheelhorseBob 1,550 #6 Posted November 2, 2020 What immediately comes to mind are war horse's, or more correctly, horses made famous being rode into battle by their famous owners. Being a history buff, especially the French and Indian war through the Revolution, Nelson comes to mind. Nelson was the horse that carried George Washington through the Revolution. He is reported to be chestnut in color so that could work too. If you like Grey you could also go with Traveller..... 1
wh500special 2,256 #7 Posted November 2, 2020 I think George Patton's horse was named Big Red... Maybe too obvious?
oilwell1415 563 #8 Posted November 2, 2020 Black Jack was maybe the most famous, if you could even call it that, of the military working horses. He was the last horse to receive the Army brand as a quartermaster issued horse, and served as the riderless horse in 4 state funerals including those of President John F Kennedy and General Douglas MacArthur. He was named after General John J. "Black Jack" Pershing, the first man to be named General of the Armies and the only one to be granted that rank while alive. Black Jack is buried in Summerall Field on Fort Myer, just outside the gate to Arlington National Cemetery. 2

Oldskool 6,660 #16 Posted November 2, 2020 I will have to put some thought to this. Any more info on this build? Trying to build a mental picture of the finished product.

Trying to build a mental picture of the finished product. Hard to say what I can add at this point because we haven't started the build and we all know how one's mind can be changed....... 348 times... During a build process. Other than what I wrote In the initial post I can throw a couple more things in. We were initially thinking about doing the entire thing in OD Green but then Sparky came up with those wheels which are fairly close to Battleship Gray so now we are leaning towards doing a multi-color broad spectrum appreciation token of all armed forces. This is a short video of the engine that we will be using:

Oldskool 6,660 #22 Posted November 3, 2020 How bout The War Horse? Mix that with the Wheel Horse name and emblem. It may not be the acronym you may have been looking for. I may be just delusional from the sleep deprivation of the Daylight Savings Time change lol
