WHX?? 50,958 #1 Posted August 3, 2020 Recently traded a 3 Pt finish mower that came with a C-195 for a seat, some cash, some machine shop time and a K91 that is supposed to be electric start with a S/G. PO said this was on a floor sweeper. The sweeper was self propelled hence the extra flywheel side pully I figure. Sadly the S/G and the bracket(S) that mounts it is missing along with the belt guard if one was even furnished? I have spare S/G's but if anyone happens to have the dim's or pics of even what the brackets look like I would appreciate it. I thought these are somewhat rare but understand they were an option on some RJ's or Suburban tractors? My thoughts are to get it running and shelf for a future custom RJ or 'burb project. BTW the seat is going to go nice on the Super C!
WHNJ701 4,165 #2 Posted August 3, 2020 it's amazing or sad to see how much those engines are selling for on ebay now. somebody has one on ebay now with the starter set up, maybe contact the seller??
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,301 #3 Posted August 3, 2020 The 1603439852 serial was made in 1986. Garry
WHX?? 50,958 #4 Posted August 4, 2020 Thanks Garry I suspected it was a later model due to the updated non plate tag. I had initially thought that small bore K's were long out of production by '86. 4 hours ago, jabelman said: maybe contact the seller?? Tryed that @jabelman got the cold shoulder.

WHX?? 50,958 #6 Posted August 4, 2020 I pmed him Jason asking if he would be kind enough to send me a pic of the brackets and he pretty much told me to buy the motor to find out. Maybe just caught him on a bad day. Don't think he'll ever get what he is asking for it.
WHX?? 50,958 #7 Posted August 4, 2020 (edited) Found this in the basement while googling Kohler K91 sweeper. Wonder what else is in the basement! Never ceases to amaze me the google searches that lead me right back to here! Guessing you no longer have this tractor Cas @formariz? Or you no longer have yours Richard @953 nut ? formariz 11,995 #8 Posted August 4, 2020 @WHX24 Yes I still have that tractor and a couple more engines like that NOS never started. Give me a little time and I will take out one of the new ones to take photos of.

The S/G mount was home made and the belt guard was made from a mower belt cover. I know that @Aldon had a K-91 with the factory S/G a few years ago, may be able to help.
WHX?? 50,958 #10 Posted August 5, 2020 Thanks you Cas much appreciated. I will have to make the brackets but would like a pic to get a starting point. The guy I got the motor from says he butchered the bracket up for something else. He also mentioned it was a weldment not a cast piece as on our bigger engines. Guessing the bottom one mounts off the pan bolts But no idea how the upper belt tensioner bracket mounted. Off the lower bolt holing the fin shroud on?? WHX?? 50,958 #12 Posted August 10, 2020 (edited) Thanks Cas will be real easy to fab those brackets and that helps alot! Question is this a flush edge ? It appears to be. Also can you get me this dimension? Center line of hole to edge. That is only the one I would need to get the belt alignment correct. The rest is easy. Way more simple a belt guard than I thought and a unique place to put the coil. Edited August 10, 2020 by WHX24
formariz 11,995 #13 Posted August 10, 2020 Yes it is a flush edge. Center of hole to edge of bracket is 1/2".
Lane Ranger 11,161 #14 Posted August 11, 2020 (edited) This is an interesting topic on the K91 with a starter generator. There also was an option for a plug in starter for a K91. I asked one of our member Ryan Transue about this earlier this month. A coupe photos on Kohlers and one with a Clinton motor.. Duo-Therm in LaGranger, Indiana made these and they are a rare item. A couple members have them on Wheel Horse tractors. Edited August 11, 2020 by Lane Ranger 1
953 nut 58,514 #15 Posted August 11, 2020 I have most of the parts and pieces of one of the Duo-Therm starters that I picked up years ago at a flea-market. If I ever get around to building the '57 RJ-35 it will go onto it. 1
953 nut 58,514 #16 Posted August 12, 2020 Took the box off the shelf this afternoon and found if not a Duo-Therm starter, it is a "MEI", anybody know anything about them?
