K91 with Starter/Generator

Recommended Posts

WHX??

Recently traded a 3 Pt  finish mower that came with a C-195 for a seat, some cash,  some machine shop time and a K91 that is supposed to be electric start with a S/G. PO said this was on a floor sweeper. The sweeper was self propelled hence the extra flywheel side pully I figure.  Sadly the S/G and the bracket(S) that mounts it is missing along with the belt guard if one was even furnished?

I have spare S/G's but if anyone happens to have the dim's or pics of even what the brackets look like I would appreciate it. I thought these are somewhat rare but understand they were an option on some RJ's or Suburban tractors?

My thoughts are to get it running and shelf for a future custom RJ or 'burb project.

BTW the seat is going to go nice on the Super C! :greetings-clappingyellow:

Thanks Garry I suspected it was a later model due to the updated non plate tag. I had initially  thought that small bore K's were long out of production by '86.

I bought some panzer parts off him years ago.

I pmed him Jason asking if he would be kind enough to send me a pic of the brackets and he pretty much told me to buy the motor to find out. Maybe just caught him on a bad day. Don't think he'll ever get what he is asking for it.

Sorry, I sold the Suburban several years ago. The S/G mount was home made and the belt guard was made from a mower belt cover. I know that @Aldon had a K-91 with the factory S/G a few years ago, may be able to help.

Thanks you Cas much appreciated. I will have to make the brackets but would like a pic to get a starting point. The guy I got the motor from says he butchered the bracket up for something else. :crying-yellow: He also mentioned it was a weldment not a cast piece as on our bigger engines.

Guessing the bottom one mounts off the pan bolts But no idea how the upper belt tensioner bracket mounted. Off the lower bolt holing the fin shroud on??

Thanks Cas will be real easy to fab those brackets and that helps alot!

Question  is this a flush edge ? It appears to be.

Also can you get me this dimension? Center line of hole to edge. That is only the one I would need to get the belt alignment correct. The rest is easy. Way more simple a belt guard than I thought and a unique place to put the coil.

Yes it is a flush edge. Center of hole to edge of bracket is 1/2".

This is an interesting topic on the K91  with a starter generator.   There also was an option for a  plug in starter for a K91.

I asked one of our member Ryan Transue about this earlier this month.   A coupe photos on Kohlers and one with a Clinton motor..

Duo-Therm in LaGranger, Indiana made these and they are a rare item.  A couple members have them on Wheel Horse tractors.

I have most of the parts and pieces of one of the Duo-Therm starters that I picked up years ago at a flea-market. If I ever get around to building the '57 RJ-35 it will go onto it.
