That other one looks like a 76 or 77 B80.

Those 8 hp Kohler engines are generally fantastic.

Good finds!

Nice score!! If the C-101 turns over it probably won't take much to get it running. With the smaller rear rims, my best guess on the second one is a "No Name" 8.

it spins guy said it had no spark, and put new points in it, but they are not set. looking for the specs,

and the no name wont run with out a charged battery so im thinking regulator.

Start with .020 gap on the points I believe, the metal tag on fan shroud of the engine will confirm this. If it is still there and readable. Make sure that you have 12v going to the + side of the coil, if it has a battery ignition with an automotive style coil.

Probably a good guess there. Again providing it has a battery ignition.

Thanks, both have auto style coils.

not like Ike it matters, but the 8 horse machine looks awfully a lot like Screamin’ Jimmy the Commando 800 when we picked it up in 2018 :handgestures-thumbupright:

Welcome to the forum.

The C-101 ID plate may be seen standing on the left side of the tractor looking toward the rear.

Good score! You'll like both of them. C-101 will have more power, but both are great tractors. Clean all of the connections at the ignition switch and regulator before you start throwing parts at the one that runs. Definitely a possibility that the reg is bad, but I've found corrosion on the connectors to be the culprit more than once.

On the C-101, after you confirm it has power to the coil, if it does, I'd change the condenser before the coil. The condensers are generally mounted upright, outside of the hood (which I think is dumb) and catch water. They go bad far more often than the coils themselves. You can always swap parts between the running tractor and the C-101 to diagnose without spending a dime.

The fact that you are no longer in Florida just goes to show that you were intelligent enough to pack up and get out of that mess.       :handgestures-thumbupright:           Several of us are FROM Florida.
