Thank you, I bought it 3 years ago, basically went thru it, painted it, greased it works great. Has all original stickers on it. I just didn't know the value as I don't see much about these lately on here.

It looks great.   A quick question, does the bar need to be down flat, to operate?

It is not recommended to run in the vertical position. I’d say it’s worth $650+ in that working, restored condition. I have the same one not restored with a leaky wobble box. Apparently it’s a common thing for them to leak and an easy fix. I haven’t restored it because the tractor it is on and the patina on the sickle bar match! $650 is just my opinion so it could be spot on or way off!!!!😜

WHX??

Priceless I'd say! But 550-650 would be a good range.

for comparison the Haban and sears sickle bars usually sell in the 1000 to 1500 range in complete working condition.

Don’t know if this backs up anything!  But I recently (Jan. 31,2020) sold a 42” side sickle in good working order for $525.00. Had the grass bar, new belt and the original Wheel Horse belt as well the manuals and extra bar!

I would love to have a sickle bar! Price seems reasonable.

Well there ya go! There’s a good comparison, if that SOLD for $525 then Gearheads is worth a minimum of $650, maybe much more?

Think I gave 450 for mine in decent original shape, though it does leak a bit.

They are a barrel of fun. The gearbox is a bit fragile however.1252493389_ScreenShot2019-04-13at10_05_03AM.png.2034c4f822356e33dc95e522787f28d0.png

Thank you all for the opinions I appreciate it. I love having it but it doesn't get much use I used it once since ive owned it. I use my horse for plowing in the winter. With other stuff going on its a toss up in my head.

Wow guess I got a deal on this one then... paid 100 but was a basket case. Wobble shaft was busted but Tom @Shynon gave me one he had. I should really put this thing together one of these days. I have all new bearings and seals for it.

When I bought his 867 he had a nice bar on it for what Tom 450 extra? Definitely worth that but I just wanted the tractor.... for now!

That they are.. never run them at WOT and keep them oiled. Seems they do best on 7 or 8 hp engines. @Lane Rangeris a bar pro and I know @Racinbob knows a thing or two about them as well as @dclarke

I have a shop-made pulley I did myself just for running it. Just a hair larger than the crank stub, with V grooves. Its comfortable at just over idle.
I dont use it too awful much since a walk behind Jari is handier on brush .. and much cheaper to repair.

I appreciate the comments and opinions. I will be most likely putting the sickle bar up for sale at some point in the future. Don't want to as they are hard to come by and have an attachment to it, but have to. Thank you again.

I am sorry, this is not mine but had considered it before we bought Buzz's 854 with the sickle!  This one A-Z had for sell in the barn!  The price was $650 as you see it...

Sorry, my bad! I should have read the post instead of just looking at the pictures. I thought Gearhead took his off and was selling it! I wonder if that one sold at the big show?

Not the best pictures but I figured I’d throw these in. My C-121 8 speed with 50” sickle bar. It took a little adapting but it works great. When I got it the wobble box was seized due to the yoke on the input shaft was broken. I took it to someone who is a better welder than me and it’s fixed!

Not to run off with this thread but all this bar talk and a finnished project out of the way started digging out mine that needs to get put together. This just happened to be in the way to get to the bar and one thing led to another! Did get it to light up a bulb before I lost spark! Vintage genny with a K90...yup that's a shower head muff and sounded sawweeet!
