PeacemakerJack 10,671 #79 Posted October 30, 2019 That is quite impressive Jeff! So cool to see that truck loaded and hauling that firewood. Perfect application for that machine I wonder how sore you are going to be tomorrow after swinging that axe all day? I roofed a steep shed a couple of weeks ago and boy did I feel that the next day...
19richie66 16,980 #80 Posted October 30, 2019 I hurt just from looking at it. Nice job on the wood. Going to have plenty of wood splitting to do when I get relocated.

Wasn't all day but 1 or 2 hours an evening (for the past week) after work and yes it's finally caught up with me and shoulders... But as you can see in earlier post where I started and where I ended up at. 2

I recommend a hydraulic unit which I have access to 2 but wanted to go old school and get a bit of a work out too. 1
Pullstart 59,906 #83 Posted October 30, 2019 Awesome work with the maul Jeff! You should get yourself an old tire to wrap around that wood! No more standing it back up, just whack a-mole! 3

Same here. I really do miss splitting by hand a little bit. So I do a little bit every year. .. the power splitter was one of the best investments we've ever made.

WVHillbilly520H 10,369 #86 Posted October 31, 2019 (edited) Got the truck moved to more stable ground before the rains as well as my wood tarped over to keep it somewhat dry while raining for next couple days... WVHillbilly520H 10,369 #87 Posted November 3, 2019 Got out the hydraulic splitter to finish up the last 1/2 or so truck load. Gonna let it dry out out some stacked like this for a couple weeks before I haul it to WV.

PeacemakerJack 10,671 #92 Posted November 10, 2019 I am hopelessly a diesel fanatic...however I appreciate a heavy duty large displacement torquey gas motor as much as the next gear head. So...that being said, I can’t wait for a full report on your heavy load trip through the mountains. I think that old truck is super cool Jeff👍🏻 2
WVHillbilly520H 10,369 #93 Posted November 10, 2019 This will be it's third trip there but the last 2 loads weren't as big/heavy , hopefully it's an uneventful trip in the morning and back home. 2

ebinmaine 63,346 #98 Posted November 10, 2019 Love those truck ramps. Vermont has them. Hoping I never have to use one. 2
WVHillbilly520H 10,369 #99 Posted November 10, 2019 Made back home around 6:15 and other than refueling the trip was mostly uneventful... Besides figuring out the average size of my wood load (roughly 2 full cord) I wanted to see how much weight I possibly had on there as well Google says on average 2 ton per stacked cord or this other site where you can pick species so basically 50/50 load of cherry and black (yellow) locust...https://forestry.usu.edu/forest-products/wood-heating... So about 6900 lbs or 3.5 ton and one part of the wood shed is nearly full now and I still about another full load yet. 4
