Tack hammer for upholstery. Ends should be magnetic. One puts tacks in mouth, (I am serious) stretch fabric with left hand , puts narrow tip of hammer in mouth. Tack head attracts to tip of hammer in correct position and then one drives tack.Finish driving with wider end. A professional does all of that with incredible speed. It is something else to watch.

Hi Thanks for admitting me to the forum. I've just bought the beastie in the pictures attached. It's complete, all the linkages, brake etc seem to work. Will try and fire it up at the weekend. It seems to be 3 speed plus reverse, the gear shift feels like it's selecting, maybe a bit loose. I was told it's a 1972 commando 800. One question, there's no clutch control, how does the transmission work? I think I read that you only select gears when stationary, is that right? Hope to hear from you soon. Pete (Perth, Scotland)

Hand impact driver with the slotted head. With your track record better get some gloves on or a box of band-aids near by.

Every year I try to do a little something for the support members that through their support fees help preserve and grow this amazing forum. However this has been a rather trying year for Lola and I. With all that has been going on I have not been able to allocate the time to do something for you all this year. I am sorry to say that this year will be the first year since we have been attending the show that I do not have something for you. The good news is we will be there and Buddy is staying home so if we get there early enough Wed we can attend the evening gathering at our favorite Italian Restaurant. Looking forward to seeing you all in June.

Had another load on the mule and decided to drag one of the ash trees out of the hedge row so I can cut it up easier. Try that with your Honda Quad Notice no wheel spin

Summerizing the snow horse. Finished up the hydro work. Works great no drips...yet. Held the blade up for over an hour. Added weight. Now carries 250 lbs. Didn't want too much on the rear hitch so i got one of Lowells...very nice!!! Somewhere I have another 60 lb tractor front wheel weight which I may add to the rear hitch.

Ya know Oliie I just thought of that this morning, I should do an instructional. May throw one back together and have the missus take disassembly pictures. Your hands get pretty grimy and phone cams and parts washers do not mix! Here's a primer He's got a lot of good videos for newbies and veterans alike. He does cheat abit in the fact I usually remove the field coils and blast and clean the parts better. He also doesn't do any armature work which I always do. This just involves undercutting the mica and polish the poles up. Not very hard and adds a whopping half hour to the job. He is also either smart or a sally to get his hands dirty... he wears gloves!

As most of you know, I spent my youth in the Appalachian Mountains of Western Pa. and had no knowledge of seafood or Dutch cuisine until I met my wife in SC Pa in 1961. It did not take me long to develop a love of my wife's Grandmothers Dutch shoo fly pie, hog maw, hard shell crabs, oyster stuffing, and oyster pie. Grandma Smith's Oyster pie she used cast ion skillets and home made crusts....we cheat and use 9" pyrex dishes and Pillsbury rolled pie crusts all ingredients are layered in......not mixed 1. bottom crust 2. 1/4" thick layer of crushed saltines 3. 2 cups pre cooked thinly sliced potatoes 4. 1 1/2 pints of select oysters and juice if you shuck your own, this = about 25 select or 35 standard size oysters select size is prefered 5. 4 hard boiled chopped eggs 6. 1/2 stick of thinly sliced butter 7. sprinkle with celery salt 8. top crust crimp edge and vent 9. bake for 10 minutes at 400 then lower heat to 375 and bake till crust is golden brown.....about 30 minutes. 10. let stand for 10 minutes, then slice and serve add sea salt and pepper to taste. caution ….taste first as some oysters are naturally salty three pies serves 10 of us, but we luv oyster pie and everyone comes hungry We normally serve with steamed green beans and a sugar/vinegar cole slaw. And Chris, no crab meat that's crushed saltines you see... crab awww now.that's another day and meal. I luv shell oysters and can usually buy them for $50 a 1/2 bushel. I like to micro wave a 1/2 doz for 15 seconds to make them release for easier shucking, then slurp them down To make the pies, I like to buy shucked sorted select size oysters. These are currently selling for $55-$60 a half gallon. ENJOY

Hey all, picked up this little guy yesterday just for a change of pace.. it was cheap enough. Little 70's AMF Dynamark 11/36 with an unusual type RD deck on it. Haven't done so much as wheel it off the truck yet. Anybody here have one like this? Needed a small mower for a tight yard I mow, and old Lawn-Rangers are getting harder to come by up this way. Atleast it has more class then the old Sears LT-4000 it's replacing

Kevin I can't tell you what that tractor is or really anything about it but the way I would base a price of something that doesn't run is purely on scrap value minus Transportation cost. If they're asking anything more than that, unless it's a rare model, it's just not worth it.

I would suggest you move the ground wire from the frame and secure it directly to the engine block at one of the starter bolts.
  18. 4 points
Simply go through all the electrical connections and make sure they are clean and tight. If your tractor has the wobble mount engine there should be a jumper from the block to the frame. That could be the issue why the pto spring is trying to act as the ground.

Um...Are you going to make a toothpick scale model of the tire, foam and bolts??? With spray dots all over of course...?!!

Thank you Terry for all you do for this great hobby. And for the beautiful cards and the work involved in creating them. You gave your time and money to show how much you care about us. Now sit back and enjoy the show THANK YOU

So I ordered new rims and tires for the push blower since one was leaking air and both are cracked heavy. In the mean time I remembered seeing tires filled with foam so thought, "Ah what the heck, let's give it a try". Got noth'n to loose since it's going to be replaced anyway! Drilled 2 1/2 inch holes, filled with a can of foam and plugged the holes. Everything went well until I got impatient again. Pulled the first bolt out of the hole and it was good. Pulled the second and all hell broke loose. That crap flew everywhere! Kind of funny even at the time but luckily the tire was tilted away from my face by having it sit on top of the blower. If you have ever had this stuff get on you, you know how hard it is to clean off. Even carb cleaner is completely useless against this stuff. Anyway, here's the aftermath. Pics don't really show it either as I'll probably be finding foam spots all over for a year.

When I first saw the picture I thought it might be a 300 industrial. With further picture comparison it might be a 1010.If it is keep in mind that gas or diesel it will have a sleeve deck engine. This is a sleeve design that has all the sleeves brazed to a deck plate. The only place for engine parts for this engine is JD itself. The sleeve deck is over $1100. No one and I mean no one makes it but Deere. This back hoe probably uses the rotary swing hydraulics instead of normal cylinders. This type of rotater is similar to a hydraulic motor.I have been told that this a very expensive unit to repair. If I were interested I would find out what model this is and talk to a JD dealer about support for it.My guess is that the cost to repair it is why it has been parked so long.

Well done Paul. Meaning no offense to those who have ATVs or UTV's but I just don't have any use for them here. I bought a garden tractor very much on purpose because I like to be able to hook up with something that is very heavy and has a fair pile of traction and go slowly and it just seems to work the best for the way I operate.

Most guys make ther own. Extend the frame and use barbell weights or Pilates. Nose around in the pulling section and you will find plenty of examples
  32. 3 points
For all models - you're best choice is a heavy gauge wire directly to the engine block at the starter mount or starter-gen mount, as well as a decent (12ga.) ground wire to the frame from the battery negative. If you have a model that uses a solenoid for the starter - use one of the solenoid mounting bolts as a grounding point, this will prevent future issues for both the charging system as well as the starting system. Internal tooth lock washers under the bolt head and another one between the wire and metal you want to ground also helps, along with some dielectric grease. This setup will last for many years and the whole electrical system will perform as it should. Sarge

Thanks everyone Everything seems to be in place, I'll see if it fires up at the weekend then see what needs replacing. I like the patina! Pete

I would give that used on a try. I know this one was tough but I have seen them when I thought they would not come off, they slide right off. Used in good condition is good too. I would take that old one and drive a nail through it into the shop walk............kind of like a trophy!

Looks about a mess I made a couple Saturdays ago at work, only with LiquiTube tire sealant instead of foam (which by the way I recommend looking into this stuff, best tire sealant you can buy). We have a trucking company who uses this stuff in all their tires, an 11R24.5 truck tire takes about 7-8 pumps of sealant out of our tank. Whoever did the last set of tires on this particular truck put WAY too much in one of them. I let all the air out, broke the outside bead, then flipped over the tire and rim to break the inside bead. When the rim hit the ground the inside bead broke on its own, and that nasty sealant came out of there like Old Faithful. I had that crap all over me, the wall, the ceiling, the front of the wrecker, even found some on the windshield of the service truck that was parked two bays down from where I was working. Its funny now but it wasn't when I was out there for three hrs cleaning up my mess. That's been almost three weeks ago and we are still finding little blobs of that crap on things around that end of the shop.

Maybe I should take it to a tire shop and video the guys response when I give it to him! LoL

Terry, you have made this tractor forum into a family! You have stimulated the interaction of our members and helped us get to know one-another. The banners and trading cards were over the top and we have all benefited by knowing you. Looking forward to seeing you and Lola and we will miss seeing Buddy.

Added a couple more things to my trailer today - gravel guards on the fenders, chrome wheel trim, and stained/waterproofed the deck. I also got my Gorilla Lifts installed the other night. Few more small mods to come.

I have camped each time I have been at the Big Show. I camp on the eastern part of the fairgrounds under the big trees. They have two very good hot showers and clean bathroom in the building next to the fairground kitchen. A truck with a topper can easily park in the camping area. No eletric in the back area but if you have the camping equipment (stove, coffee pot, lanterns, etc ) you will be fine!

Yesterday they spread the fertilizer and no, it was not roadapples. They had a modern spreader with granular fertilizer. It was pulled via the horses. Sorry I didn't get a picture. Today he is working the fertilizer in with the cultimulcher. This is his second pass. Anyone notice anything different in the hitch?

Yup, bolts right in and you'll have the benefit of the upgraded shifter rails. As Richard said, the shifter may be angled wrong. Since yours is rusted off I'm sure it will be easy to find one or simply reshape the newer lever.
