So I ordered new rims and tires for the push blower since one was leaking air and both are cracked heavy. In the mean time I remembered seeing tires filled with foam so thought, "Ah what the heck, let's give it a try". Got noth'n to loose since it's going to be replaced anyway! Drilled 2 1/2 inch holes, filled with a can of foam and plugged the holes. Everything went well until I got impatient again. Pulled the first bolt out of the hole and it was good. Pulled the second and all hell broke loose. That crap flew everywhere! Kind of funny even at the time but luckily the tire was tilted away from my face by having it sit on top of the blower. If you have ever had this stuff get on you, you know how hard it is to clean off. Even carb cleaner is completely useless against this stuff. Anyway, here's the aftermath. Pics don't really show it either as I'll probably be finding foam spots all over for a year.

Ah, I say write and do jokes all the time so laughing at yourself is almost just as good. A laugh is a laugh in my book. You have no idea how spread it really is. Bet that crap shot up in the air about 10 ft. Got all over my hands while I panicked trying to shove that bolt back in.

Not much to it, really. Old 113 is a 1935 Ford with the 'hydrostatic' non electric gas gauge. I've been restoring it for our town. The gauge worked by way of pressure as the tank level rose and fell, the gauge looks like an old mercury thermometer. The mercury was up to the top, so away we went. Cut out in the middle of a parade. This is an old truck with the gas tank under the seat. Why I didn't check before leaving is beyond me, because this has happened 3 times now haha. Prom night was another one.. I suppose there is a reason they only used this gauge in 34-35.. some day I'll find a electric '36 setup.

A neighbor gave me her old GMC, truck sat in her yard for several years and she used to start it every so often then the battery went dead and no further attempts were made to periodically start the truck. Told me the truck had a new fuel pump installed just before it was parked, I put a battery into the truck no go, poured a bit of fuel down the intake and it fired right up and would run until the fuel was gone. Fuel gauge says the tank is full, cleaned the filter and checked the fuel relay which checked out ok. Sitting here having a coffee and yapping about this darn truck to my other half when she chimes in, Is there any gas in the truck. Duh, giving it some thought maybe not. Just because the fuel gauge says it's full don't necessarily mean its full. Regardless o what the fuel gauge says tomorrow I'm going to put some fuel in the tank, then perhaps eat a bit of crow if that darn truck decides to run.

Tied into a pair of jugs today...starter generator jugs that is! These are actually enjoyable to rebuild once one gets past the grime. Getting the field coil screws out is the worse. Figured gonna get dirty might as well do one for the shelf. Got two more to do tho. This is what I get for having a dozen tractors with these on them!p

Left the job site today and saw this... ‘Nuff Said!

I have 7/16" fine bolts and Camaro wheel lugs on all of my tractors. I torque them to 50 Ft. Lbs. We aint runnin the Indy 500 or making high speed sharp turns and high wheel speeds. I don't think the value is a big deal as long as the lugs are seated on the rims and evenly.

I called about a Clist ad that showed some decks, a dozer blade and tiller for sale. Turns out a member, who's not very active here anymore was cleaning up/down sizing. The tiller, dozer blade and 3 blade 36 or 37" deck interested me. There far from pristine, but about what I see WH wise in Texas....rebuildable ! . After an email or 2 he offered them for a very very reasonable price if I would keep them out of the scrap yard. I then also purchased a Brinly moldboard plow and Brinly rear box blade for a very reasonable sum. So on a road trip I went Someday this 42" snow dozer blade could end up on a tractor for my Texas son stranded in NJ with his bride! While rough looking, this deck was not rotted out anywhere, spindle turn nice, had a few previous cracks welded. Interesting aluminum front wheel! I'll be looking for a belt guard for this at the Big Show There were 2 decks like this one in the below pic. Is this for a newer Toro mower or what non-attach-a-matic hitch tractor? The ID labels are faded out. If anyone can use these decks, or parts off them, I'll list them for gas money in the Classified Section once there identified. I haven't tested the electric clutches yet, good parts if they work! anyone recognize these red brackets in the pic below?

Every year I try to do a little something for the support members that through their support fees help preserve and grow this amazing forum. However this has been a rather trying year for Lola and I. With all that has been going on I have not been able to allocate the time to do something for you all this year. I am sorry to say that this year will be the first year since we have been attending the show that I do not have something for you. The good news is we will be there and Buddy is staying home so if we get there early enough Wed we can attend the evening gathering at our favorite Italian Restaurant. Looking forward to seeing you all in June.

There should be a set screw holding the pulley on. Spray it down good with penetrating fluid and use a puller to remove the pulley. Here is some very important info. Do not hit the shaft with a hammer unless you have the whole pump taken apart. You will chance damaging one of the gears inside the pump. Don't ask me how I know this.

Last year I had one of these made up and sold it Thursday morning @$50 Can not remember who it was that got it though? At least 5 people asked if I had more. So I will have 5 of them this year 18" high x 24" wide on .063 aluminum

As a note, when you get around to rebuilding that pump. All of the parts are removed from the inside of the pump. There is a snap ring on the out side of the valve drum, remove this and push the drum in. The reason for this note is that there is a slight taper to the valve drum and it will not push out from the inside very easily or without minor damage.

You said that the truck has been sitting for some time. Has the gas that is in the tank gone bad?

Tack hammer for upholstery. Ends should be magnetic. One puts tacks in mouth, (I am serious) stretch fabric with left hand , puts narrow tip of hammer in mouth. Tack head attracts to tip of hammer in correct position and then one drives tack.Finish driving with wider end. A professional does all of that with incredible speed. It is something else to watch.

I have always found that once the set screw is removed the pulley comes right off because the pump seal has leaked enough to prelubricate the shaft.

My bedroom window for the night. My buddy’s family has the flu, so I’m dying solo. I get up every hour or so to add sap and wood.

Update on Scottie Last week was a super busy week for Scottie, as Tuesday, we went to Rochester for our appointment with his orthopedic surgeon and to get x-rays and scans of his pelvis, clavicle and shoulder, and his right elbow. We were told that his pelvis is healing and has a lot of calcification and that they are not too worried about his pelvis fractures. His clavicle and shoulder still need more time to heal and his elbow will require another surgery in June. This surgery is too remove the hardware in his right elbow as it is impairing him from extending his elbow fully. He has his follow up appointment with the orthopedic surgeon on May 20th to see how well, his clavicle and elbow are healing. He is to see therapy and get a home exercise plan to help him regain the muscle strength in his lower and upper body. Scottie has no restrictions from the orthopedic stand point but urology has some therapy restrictions. Thursday, Scottie went to his therapy appointment to get fitted for a wheeled walker and to get a home exercise plan to help regain his strength in his lower body and upper body. Scottie got fitted for a wheeled walker and he got a home exercise plan for his lower body, and he was referred to occupational therapy for his upper body and elbow therapy. Scottie got sent home with 8 different exercises to do at home and he was told that he could only walk during his therapy visits because if he would happen to fall while walking he could break his pelvis again and may require surgery. So walking at home is out of the question for now but will be in the near future. Friday, Scottie met with the occupational therapist and he got a home exercise plan for his upper body. Once we got home from therapy, Scottie was walking into the house and his right ankle decided to give out and he required some assistance getting into the house. Once we got into the house he started to have some bladder spasms and catheter pain which is continuing on today. He is taking his medications around the clock which kindda help with his pain at times. Scottie did some of his home exercise plan over the weekend but was limited on his lower body because of his bladder pain and spasms. Yesterday, Scottie was experiencing bladder pressure and catheter site pain, that he asked me to flush out his two catheters for him. As I was flushing out his suprapubic catheter, I was met with resistance and we had to drain his bladder through the penial catheter. We go in on April 18 for another surgery to replace and exchange his catheters and to see where we are in terms of his reconstructive surgery on his bladder and urethra. Today, Scottie had his second therapy appointment with both occupational and physical therapy. Scottie was able to do more upper body exercises that his lower body today due to his pelvis fractures causing him some pain and discomfort. Once Scottie started his lower body exercises he felt pain in his pelvis fracture site and so the therapist had to alter his therapy program for him. He did some walking and some standing but all in all he had a very tiring day in therapy. Scottie has been working very hard on his school assignments so he can turn them in before the end of the quarter on Friday. With the end of the quarter wrapping up for him, he has been working on his Social Studies, Science, English, Small Gas Engines, Health, and Choir. This young man has everything done to his best ability except for two classes. Bryan is slowly winding down his senior year at school and he slowly counting the days until school is out for him. Pop it off the engine and take the gear off. You'll want an impact wrench handy to buzz that nut off the end of the shaft. There is a spring behind that gear so be very careful about flying parts. very carefully clean all of the things that you remove and also the shaft itself. That spring may be broken or weak. If the spring appears okay, get some dry graphite Lube in there. Do not use any liquid Lube of any kind as it will hold us very quickly. Put it all back together and see what happens. If symptoms persist, get a replacement spring.

Bah hahahahaha Okay. Good. I was hoping there was not some kind of horrific news you were trying to deal with at 3 in the morning or whatever. I hadn't heard yet that the LA Times or NPR was reporting about the production of maple syrup the being nearly instantly fatal but you never know. Awesome job on that evaporator!
