I took a flat bar from the pile o stuff and put a twist and a couple bends in appropriate places using the bench vice and a huge C clamp. No heat needed. 11 gauge x 1-1/2" stock. I was even lucky enough to have 2 of the 3 holes where they needed to be. All exhaust and the bracket will be removed and painted. I'm thinking this'll do for now. @Mows4three @LengerichKA88

The C160 I have didn't come with the 2 piece seat so I purchased one from Northern tool. It does look good and is comfortable BUT I wanted an original looking seat. So after making the seats for the lawn ranger and 1054/953 I've decided to give it a try. I did buy a seat that I could make patterns from and I can get very close to original. But with the c160 seat there's a big problem trying to duplicate them , they have designs in the back and the seat. Lines in the seat and the back and the back also has the wheelhorse emblem. I've been working on it since October 2018 and as the weather get better I can get in my garage to make a heated frame to make the designs in the seat and back. I had a die made for the Wheelhorse emblem. But this is the biggest problem I've run into. The back has a 1/6" steel plate that it's glued to and the seat has a 1/32 galvanized plate that it's glued to. I can't make these because it's not cost effective to try to reproduce it. So I can't charge what it would cost me to make a complete set. There for I may make the replacement seat and back that can be installed by the owner if they have the old steel back and seat. Maybe I'll make a video on how to install the new seat and back. Here is a few pictures to show some of the progress I've made. It will still be some time before I get a set completed and ready to install.but I hope to have them at the Big Show this year. Hopefully they'll look like the last picture when I'm done . Next update Taking a break from tires and went back to the trans. Installed a drive pulley. There's a pulley groove even though it'll be covered by the belt guard but it may be visible if there's ever a fine close up white glove inspection. Just trying to get as much detail as possible since each part is getting shown and displayed here as the piece progresses. (put the details where you can, so where you can't it doesn't matter) Back to the brake band parts. Built the lever which activates the clutch pulley and pulls the brake band. Went through 5 or 6 broken pieces in different stages of drilling the 3 holes in a small piece. Still going to make it move for now but think it's more of the challenge to see if it can be done. Getting things aligned Got it on which was difficult. The biggest obstacle is my poor eyesight. This took a while! BUT, it moves for now. notice the lever position. The rod for the brake band just slides through the hole for now Back Forward Then prep the lever for the belt's idler pulley. This can't be glued until the frame is on and maybe the engine.

Maybe something to do with the drivers.

IT is just a pipe. We made a few baffles and welded them inside to quiet it down some. I love the way it looks and sounds but because this is going to work at least a couple times a week at the lake I think I will remove it and replace with an original shower head for the summer. Better safe than sorry. The stack has been powder coated chrome.

Thanks everyone for the welcoming......I live in a small town called Strathroy up here in Ontario Canada....some of you might know the big wheelhorse collectors R&B wheelhorse stables in Forest Ontario. Roy and Betty have known me since I was a kid(34now),,,,I started with my 1960 suburban I got from a family friend, growing up every time we would visit them I would sit on it in the corner of their old garden and pretend to steer. When they were moving he gave it to me. I was 14 . When I was in grade 10 I took every piece to high school (minus the frame and transmission) in my backpack and sandblasted it in shop class. My dad painted it. Roy was so impressed that a young guy was interested in wheelhorse. since that time I’ve restored that suburban again but up to the standards of Roy’s wheelhorses. heres the list of my collection gentleman.... 1959 Rj, 60 suburban 400(restored), 61 suburban 401 almost restored( just have to paint the hood),,,,702, 753, 953, 854, 1054x2, 1054A, 500 special( middle of restoring it), a commando 8, C-120 that had a little fire under the hood. Was restored 3 years ago by someone else but I bought it cheap for $150 because it was burnt, I’m going to repaint what needs to be done and all new wiring then sell it. It runs like a top, and I also have a 655 parts tractor plus I’ve got a C100 and 875 all in parts for sale. ive also got non wheelhorse tractors too. (2)64 65 66 67 John Deere 110 round fenders and a 67 112 round fender, a 69 Minneapolis moline 108 and a restored 1974 ford lgt 100. My 67 John Deere 110 round fender is completely restored with a restored Johnson model 10 loader. and gentleman when I restored these couple I’ve done every speck of paint comes off and new stainless steel bolts used. My theory is ya restore right the first time. Will post pictures if I can figure how.

It's been a long day for this old timer, but I managed to get everything unloaded and somewhat put away. I'm sure my arthritic joints will complain for a few days. So, now I can declassify details on this short road trip. I learned of this find through a mutual friend. His friend, Mr. Lenny Haines had acquired the collection when his Father recently passed. Lenny's Father, Mr. Richard Haines (86) lived in Beaver Falls, Pa. Lenny lives 3.5 miles from me, so I stopped and looked at the collection and took some initial pictures. A few days later, I called Lenny and made an offer. He was in NC at the time and needed to talk with his brother. Lenny came home yesterday, and today.....well. Like Mr. Paul Harvey would say, " And now you know the rest of the story". A few more pics of what I found in some of the tubs. 8 speed w/ 1 1/8" axles and hubs. Is there anyway to ID this externally? ie. 8 or 10 pinion, limited slip Hydraulic pump equipment etc. Sickle bar stuff motors round hood parts engine bench tester on wheels with fuel tank, and wiring harness for Ks. WH parts No pics, but there was a complete 42" dozer blade and long frame, a 42" Rd deck, a 42" SD deck, and a 48" SD deck.

I put a electric fuel pump on my 520h. I should have done it 20 years ago.

Is there a casting date on the case?? It is possible that the transmission is a #5073, 6 speed, 10 pinion limited slip. The #5073 had the dip stick, and the brake band was mounted on the cluster gear shaft. If you did see the 1" extension with the fill plug, i would feel comfortable saying it is a #5073...how ever, I think that extension was something that was added later and just may not have been added to yours. Try taking out those 2 fender bolts, shine a good flashlight down one hole and look down the other. If you can see the bolts of the differential...the 10 pinion has 5 bolts...the 8 pinion has 4 bolts. You can try turning one of the hubs "slowly" with the transmission in neutral. If both wheels turn forward, it's a 10, but this is by no means a guarantee...a weak spring could fool you into thinking you have an 8 pinion when you really have a 10. The best way to find out is to open it up...which I would think you are planning on doing whether you are going to sell it or not. If it is an 8 pinion, again, what is the casting date? #5091, 103907, 103916, 103918, 110995 and there may be some more that are 8 pinion with 1 1/8" axles.

There has been a standoff going on just across the county line in Tennessee all morning. Two deputies have been shot. One has died. Deputy Steve Hinkle lost his life this morning. He had just submitted his retirement papers recently. A VA State Police officer, Lucas Dowell, lost his life trying to serve a warrant just west of Richmond about 2 weeks ago. Something has got to give folks! It is a shame when the men and women in blue can’t even do their jobs without facing death over minute things. This world is going crazy. I grew up knowing that the police are there to serve and protect us. They need our respect and support now more than ever! Rest In Peace gentlemen and thank you for sacrificing your lives so the rest of us can be safe!!

A few weeks ago I picked up this walk behind for 75 bucks. I have always wanted one and knew that I would never find a WH model that I could afford. Originally this machine had a Briggs model N engine on it but at some point it was swapped out with a Wisconsin BKN 7 horse. I plan on finding an N to go back on it but will play around with it as is. Long story short it sat in the garage for the past few weeks because I don't have heat in it. Went out today and found that the magneto was putting out great spark. Pulled the tank, carb. and settlement bowl and they were all clean. The oil bath air cleaner had water in it so cleaned it up and put clean oil in. It fired up and runs perfect on the third pull. The machine came with a snow blade so I will try to make a plow that will work on it. I did find out that it is a very early 1948.

Here is what I did on my Briggs Vanguard 18. The pipe has nothing in it. It had a high pitch piercing sound. I installed this, got rid of the piercing sound. It's still not quite but it sounds good. The first washer has a 1" hole the other two are 3/4".

As far a bracing goes, I would rather brace the pipe to the engine than the tractor frame. You have a vibrating engine working against the rigid frame. I think it will set things up for premature wear/ breakage

@ebinmaine, To be honest nothing has changed. Still have the pepper pot style on the tractor. Loud as hell. I got a different muffler via Aldon and Lane Ranger from the big show. Too lazy to get my butt in gear to try installing it. I basically wrench on my 50 year old steed only when I have to in order to keep something running. I guess I really haven't been infected yet.

The way I look at it is this, you CAN buy a comparable machine as a Wheel Horse today. It would probably cost in the 20K range... and that would likely equate to the 4K range for my C-175 Hydro in 1980

I have a Charger 9 that originally used a Tecumseh motor. I swapped in a Kohler M10 for the Tecumseh (to avoid the trouble of rebuilding it). It was easy and I am pleased with the conversion .

Hello, all. Saved this little Wizard over the weekend. Had to trek through 4' of snow half way into a field to dig it out. Took a good while haha. Anyway, it's a 50's Wizard 2 cycle with a Power Products engine. Does anyone here have one like it? Seems to be in mostly good shape, but it's missing most of the engine decals, and I am trying to figure what they ought to be, as I plan to restore it as a simple little project. Despite sitting over 20 years out there, I didn't even touch the points, and it lit right off today on a prime.

I always liked that style of seat and would look good on any model tractor. Excellent Bob but I will ask the question the other fellas will surely want to know. Can the the die be used on the other seats and the fine covers you make?

If you have a good chance of hitting tree limbs ect. I'd be concerned. Without hitting stuff I think your ok. I used schedule 80 black iron pipe for my exhaust piping

Thanks for the response Steve. Just curious. I'm going with a stack built by Jim Kemp for now. Same one that was on my 1267 plow horse is going on the cinnamon horse. Sounds great and built extremely well. I'm just kind of thinking it would be nice to have it a more quiet ride for going in and out of the woods. That's kind of a long slow trip. Josh I can't even begin to tell you how many times we've had that thought around here

Often those things that we learn to live with, even though we are annoyed by them, stay that way unless we are forced to make a change. Then when we FINALLY DO make the change, we spend the next several days, weeks, months, or even years saying, “I wish I had done that a LONG TIME AGO!” Been there, done that!

Now, local media is saying that officer Hinkle did not pass, but is in critical condition at this time. I’m praying the first report was wrong and that officer Hinkle is able to pull through this! Please send prayers his way in hopes the latest info is correct. I will say that in the case of Trooper Dowell that I have never seen such an outpouring of love and respect as was shown to him at his funeral. There were officers from almost all 50 states in attendance at his service. We all need to stand strong with our police officers and military members!

I absolutely agree with poor parenting, I will 67 later this year and firmly believe this got started back in the 70's when my wife and I got married. I can say my wife and I did not contribute to the problem, because we were never able to have children. A world without GOD is a troubled world and these things are the example.

Well as much as we will deny it, it all stems back to parenting. There needs to be something put in place with when a man and women get married to put an end to this . You have to start from the beginning! L O V E!! God bless us all and those families of the fallen officers!

I agree my friend my prayers go out for those men and their families. We have a lot of sick people in our world today, if these people new GOD and understood his word I think it would help. When someone does not value their own life they certainly are not going to value someone else's.
