Here's some pics of my new toys that will be used to clear some of my newly purchased 24.9 acres.Going to create a little park-like setting 75 to 100 feet behind my barns. The rest, who knows? Cleared a little before it got too cold out. The pic of the property is looking behind my shop.

Traveled to Virginia Beach today and purchased this 1979 C81 from the original owner. She was a wonderful lady who was giving up her yard work. Everything is original to the tractor and the paint is super clean. It came with the rear discharge deck, snowplow and chains. I now have my first project for the new year.

I was on my way to work and saw this cool old girl sitting at a repair shop. After the third day of driving past , I pulled up next to her and asked her to jump in my truck and come home with me. I told her that I’d take care if her and not make her sit out in the rain but she wouldn’t get in. I was surprised that they had her sitting out on the lawn for 3 days and not in the shop. I guess they figured nobody would want to steal that old rusty tractor. I wonder if it belongs to a Red Square member in eastern Pa?

Hello all, new to this forum and was looking for some advice on value. In my area is posted a 1983 C-125 with blade attachment and mower deck. The unit looks pretty clean from the pic and the asking price is $950. Is this in the ballpark, or too high too low? Thanks in advance. So fast forward to New Years Eve and my wife humored me and let me buy the tractor, so this is my first one. I ended up getting everything including plow, wheel weights, tire chains for $680. It had sat for a bit so wouldn’t start at first, add a little starter fluid and she lit off and purred nicely. Just one puff of smoke on initial light off as would be expected for something that had been sitting, nothing else bad at all. All gears shift nicely, engine is smooth etc. So the reason I’m posting is that even though it was advertised as an ‘83, I think it might be a 1981. When I got home and went thru the papers that were included, they looked to be original owners manual and brochures that came with the tractor upon first purchase. (Pretty cool actually.). So one of the included magazines is a Wheel Horse magazine, dated 1981, and has an article about 1981 design features. Who knew that Jackie Stewart was their pitch-man at the time? So looking at the VIN Number I come up with: 01-126803-25028. followed by: 2095. Hoping that someone can give me an idea if the tractor is 1981 or ‘83 or anything else. My my little disclaimer here, still figuring out how to post and read on this forum, so if I have double posted anything I apologize in advance. Thank you all for the help!!

We officially found out today that the bacteria in Scottie’s bladder is resistant to the one antibiotic we started on Monday. So the medical team at St. Marys changed his antibiotic today and we started it tonight. How was Scottie’s day? Well it was very quiet as we were trying to get his pain under control and let him rest. He did have a migraine headache from his traumatic brain injury so we are taking that one day at a time. Lowell and I appreciate y’all and we are very blessed to have our son home for Christmas and the New Year.

After coming across a post on page 118 titled My daughters first tractor it gave me an idea to post My daughters first WH ride in the summer of 1990 at 4 months old on my new 1989 312-8. She seemed to enjoy that very much that I thought I would try to find her a tractor of her own.In 2001 at 11 years old she was able to drive the 1993 520-H alone and had a lot of fun doing it .Enjoy the pics.

Ok- 1982 is just fine with me. Oh, just a little additional info: rear discharge mower looks to be in great condition, but I don’t have a lawn so will stay in great condition. Just plan on mounting and using the snow plow. Also, headlights worked initially, but don’t now. Haven’t troubleshot yet but I’m guessing the fuse is the likely culprit? I posted pics earlier, not sure where they ended up so here we go again:

The spring is Originally bend a bit inwards in the gap, so it is supposed not to catch. Just info And you will want a small gap to allow the spring to flex a little bit, but clearly as little as possible. I may be getting a rear end with a 10 pinion soon. If so, I will take it apart and start experimenting on adapting to 8 pinion too

Projects would be to keep sailing on a 1055 resto build and get a two stage blower whipped in to shape. Then there's getting rear weight on the 520 it's going on. Then there's a 953 refresh, a suburban that needs a little motor work, rubber for the 604, two 1077s and a 1277 that needs some love and a re-ring on the 857 along with a sickle bar that needs to be finished and a 1257 that needs some HY-2 refinements. Forgot about the 753 that needs a ....someone feel free to stop me here when I ain't gettin nothin done.

Quite a few of us have them. The biggest problem we see is how they will hold up to the uv rays of the sun. Mine is less that a year old so time will tell. I used 3/8 driveway gravel under mine but if drainage is a problem you could elevate it a tad and use a larger stone for the base. This one was put up on a foot or better drop in grade in 13 ft so I used landscape timbers I had lying around to level it out. It's a Shelter Logic from Northern Tool ...20 x 13 I believe and holds a dozen + or - tractors given size of tractor.

Congratulations Steve! I can't wait to see where this thread goes once some of your buddies start bustin' on ya. EAGLES!

I know what you mean, a connector that slides down on the threaded stud. These were common on Ford start solenoids at the scrapyard (likely not any more). I just bolt them on myself using crimp on ring terminals as Racinbob said (better connection anyways). Being used to the 520 with lots of gauges, I use lots of them when rebuilding a harness. Cleat

Wow! If I had those my wife would never see me, I’d be out in the yard all day...dig a hole....fill it in...repeat....

I posted the other day in the xmas gifts thread that i got a lift table. I knew it needed modifications to hold a tractor and i couldn't just put a slab of plywood on it because i still need to use it for my motorcycle. I had a plan figured out but was going to need sheet metal bent to make rails for the tires to go onto while leaving the center open for my motorcycle when needed. I went to the scrap metal yard with @Shynon to pick up metal for the rail supports, while digging through the rack i found aluminum bleacher seats! Score! They were 15ft long and 10 in wide this is perfect, best part is the bleachers were already RED! So we took some bleachers home and started cutting, i have been fabricating all day and this is as far as i got today, had to extend the pedals too. I still need to make a steel lip for the ends of the rails so they dont get wrecked when mower decks hit the edge, and make a front tire vise for my motorcycle.

Hey everyone, I finally decided to get back on here and wouldn't you know it I didn't know my screen name since it's been so long. I'm talking years. Anyway I'm back. Some of you I know from the Facebook pages. Some I've actually gotten to meet which is awesome. I have a decent collection that has almost out grown my storage capacity. I have a 57 rj-35 I've been restoring, 2 rj58's 1 is all original with the Clinton and the other is restored with the kohler, 2 model 701's 1 original and one waiting to be restored, a 753, 2 603's 1 restored other waiting, bronco 14, 12 auto, 416h and then my wife has a few and my kids also each have 1. Looking forward to learning more from this site and meeting some more of you. Have a good one Keep saving those Wheel Horses. Matt

The hood on this Ranger had a dent on the nose where the “Wheel Horse” lettering is and I never could get it straightened good enough to be happy with it. Another member here gave me a nice nose piece so I’m attempting to replace the front of my hood with the the one I just got.I ended up using the front mounting tab from my old hood and now I’m ready to tack the new front onto the hood. Tomorrow my son in law is gonna come by and help me get everything lined up so I can tack the two halves back together. So far this has gone better than I thought it might, I think it’ll make a nice hood when it’s done.

Hoping to get my other daughter Lillians 875 running it hasnt ran since the year before my dad died. i think 2015 was the last time it ran. Im also hoping to get my wife dreaded 1969 commando v8 running. atleast with the 875 i did put fresh oil in it when i parked it and gas and stabilizer in the tank. im hoping a good battery and it should start. i have it out of these woods. it is a great machine my late dad gave it to my daughter. The stupid commando just needs spark. it will be the most challenging project. with that electronic ignition.

Can't beat the price and time required! Placing in the shade keeps the UV from wrecking havoc so quickly and reduces snow accumulation but I'm planning on adding metal roofing on purlins. Heck, I might even side them. Could even frame up the ends and add a real door!

Not going to have much time for Wheel Horse projects this year.I recently bought 24.9 arces of wooded land directly behind my shop.Going to start clearing part of it.Some of it is designated wetland.Won't touch that, naturally.Bought a used Caterpillar D3C Series 3 bulldozer and a very used John Deere 490D excavator.Been working on this new to me equipment already.Getting them ready to earn their keep come warm weather.Have done full oil and fluid changes on both.Cat needs some track pads changed.I want to put a mechanical thumb on the excavator, and need to weld new shanks and teeth on the bucket.Need to pressure wash the excavator.Supposedly,it spent it's life digging coal out of railroad cars. It's completely covered with coal dust.Hope we have an early Spring. Can't wait to get going here.

I built a "foundation" out of railroad ties then filled with gravel. The framework is bolted to the ties. It has been up for 6 or 7 years now. The cover is getting thin in places and probably needs replaced. Best storage area for the price.

@bcgold, I like that you took the time to write up the cam compression idiosyncrasies, but I'll will have to say with my current 406 SBC combo with a static CR of 10.3:1 and Dart Iron Eagle Platinum heads I get by quite well with 93 octane pump gas and 34° of timing, each engine build should be an individual blueprint to each intended use with stock, modified, or serious performance components, just my experiences and humble opinion. This screen shot is from a computer dyno simulator for my particular build.

When I had mine,( 12 x 20 ) put down a tarp, then put down used pallets over the tarp and covered the pallets with 8' x 4' pieces of OSB. Made a nice easy, inexpensive floor and kept the moisture out. Added extra black steel pipe to the roof for snow load too. Pros-- keeps your stuff dry, fairly easy to put up Cons-- They're ugly, you need to knock off the heavy loads of snow

Thanks Sarge. I had an extra hood knob that I used for a handle and the lid is heavy enough that I don't think it needs a latch. I think I'm gonna shoot the inside with some bed liner.
