After coming across a post on page 118 titled My daughters first tractor it gave me an idea to post My daughters first WH ride in the summer of 1990 at 4 months old on my new 1989 312-8. She seemed to enjoy that very much that I thought I would try to find her a tractor of her own.In 2001 at 11 years old she was able to drive the 1993 520-H alone and had a lot of fun doing it .Enjoy the pics.

Traveled to Virginia Beach today and purchased this 1979 C81 from the original owner. She was a wonderful lady who was giving up her yard work. Everything is original to the tractor and the paint is super clean. It came with the rear discharge deck, snowplow and chains. I now have my first project for the new year.

I posted the other day in the xmas gifts thread that i got a lift table. I knew it needed modifications to hold a tractor and i couldn't just put a slab of plywood on it because i still need to use it for my motorcycle. I had a plan figured out but was going to need sheet metal bent to make rails for the tires to go onto while leaving the center open for my motorcycle when needed. I went to the scrap metal yard with @Shynon to pick up metal for the rail supports, while digging through the rack i found aluminum bleacher seats! Score! They were 15ft long and 10 in wide this is perfect, best part is the bleachers were already RED! So we took some bleachers home and started cutting, i have been fabricating all day and this is as far as i got today, had to extend the pedals too. I still need to make a steel lip for the ends of the rails so they dont get wrecked when mower decks hit the edge, and make a front tire vise for my motorcycle.

@prondzy Very nice/clean modification. I have the same lift and have been thinking how I wanted to widened it. I wonder if any of the 4 county school districts would miss 15' of football stadium bleacher seat?

I could tell you what "I" plan to do this year, but SWMBO hasn't told me yet!

Keep working on Mrs. Pullstart’s “Frank” project, hopefully finish it before the big show without the paint drying on the way! Also build a rack for Norman, to hold 4 complete tractors in/on the bed.

Tractor is on mine. Sure is nice not to have to lay on the floor. I'm getting too old for that.

Thanks to @Retierd WrencherWrencher We put rear chains on Trina's 657. Of course she had to go driving around in the yard to make sure they were tight and secure.

Way more than a forum about ‘s . is a place that somehow brings people from around the world together. Be it help with a problem or needing a prayer . Just seems someone is always there when you need it.

I agree with all of the above. This is the only social media site I now belong to. I used to be into VWs pretty heavy and belonged to another site that was very similar to this one in respect to the people you encounter and sense of community. Sadly in our world FB and other social sites seem to be more about competition and end up getting people in trouble in other aspects of their lives. I will stay here just as long as you other guys stay that make this such a great place to talk with friends and even interact about the occasional little red tractor! Great place! Great tractors! Wonderful friends!

We’ve all been newbies, and we can all learn something new here too. We can all have a laugh, and when we’re really tight have a hug or share a tear. I’ve visited the sight from the hospital this year, from MI to Miami, dirty and stumped, or Putting around and on top of the world with my family. What I know, is that for some reason, all you chaps are there with me. I’d be there for you. And, we like old stuff, like cool tractors! Happy new year, and see ya somewhere soon!

Happy Birthday to fellow Hoosier @Jerry77!!! Have a super day!!! Interestingly for me, I have a first cousin by marriage who lives in Tipton, IN, whose 79th birthday is today also. 1/1/1940 must have been a primo day for good guys to have been born! Regards, Steve

Happy new year fellas! I hope the new year finds everyone in good health. Just wanted to put it out there and see what kind of projects people have planned for the new year.. I myself have to get my d-200 and 314-8 back together, just a matter of getting the tins back on when they come back from paint. But my big project is the c-160. Leaving the original patina, but going to do some clean up work and get it running. But I want to start playing around at plow days so I’ll be doing a lot with playing with weights, traction, etc.

I belong to several online forums, and I've always said that RedSquare is and will always be the best. We have hands down the friendliest and most helpful member base of any site on the web. I just happened to look and realize this is post #1,000 for me. I know I've got a long way to go to catch up with some of you fellas, but 1,000 posts on an internet forum is quite the accomplishment for me, some of these other forums I've belonged to for years and lucky to have posted 100 times, much less 1,000. Most places are pretty topic specific, here we share the common Wheel Horse thread, but we also seem to share more than that, like one big extended family. This is the only forum I belong to where we all pull together for each other through the ups and downs life throws at us, and one I am very proud to be a member of. Thanks to each and every one of you who contribute in your own special way to make this the great place that it is

Get this old girl cutting grass again. She sat for 10 years with a broken governor shaft that I recently replaced. Got it from my Uncle in 2015 and it’s been waiting on me to have time for it. And yes at some point the poor thing took a 9mm to the hood.

I just wanted to take a moment without derailing anything technical to say that I appreciate all of those who have been of help to me. @ebinmaine @clueless @stevasaurus @953 nut @Sarge @KC9KASand many others. Weve only had our Horses a few months, and I’ve had no experience with small engines up until then. Most things that you seasoned wrenchers run into and think “That’s an inconvenience, but do able” are “Did I kill the tractor?” moments for me. I’ve been able to get guidance here for everything I’ve run into so far, and picked up additional knowledge along the way. No one is rude, or snobbish, or condescending with their responses, and explanations. Almost everything that’s been explained to me was done so in a way that I could understand it , and without making me feel dumb. It makes it really easy to stay involved in the hobby knowing you can get quality information from good folks who’re genuinely helpful. As I’ve tackled each problem as it’s popped up, it’s made me a little more confident going into working on the next. It also makes it a little less nerve wracking when the next problem presents itself each time. All that to say: Thanks!

This place is TOP NOTCH, without a doubt, and King of the Hill as far as WH forums go. The technical advice, expertise, knowledge, and mechanical skill sets assembled here are second to none. I marvel at the content available here, and the brotherly help and advice one can tap into. If you have a specific problem with literally anything, there is someone here who has "seen the movie before", and can assist you with experienced guidance. If you really want to know, Red Square is the place to go!!! I belong to several WH FB sites and some tend to be a little more local or regional in nature which are a bit more relevant to my location, and they also alert me quickly as to what is currently available in the way of tractors, implements, and other parts within a reasonable driving distance. Several of them have very impressive membership numbers .........but far less actually participate. They seem to be more of the haunt of lurkers. The biggest problem with most of these FB sites is about 90% of the posters on them, present a current problem they are having (with minimal diagnostic cues), and expect an end all problems answer composed of three sentences within five minutes of making a post. Most of these guys are young in age, impulsive, impatient, have limited keyboard or keypad skills, not to mention horrible language skills, and often want to communicate in the curious, clipped, and convoluted world of texting by abbreviations.......making it more difficult to interpret their intent and their problem. It can definitely try your patience attempting to assist these guys, some of whom must have slept through not only English class, but most of whatever time they were in public education...... I like staying in touch with these sites for local happenings, but often I quickly get burned out or turned off by the "I want the world, and I want it NOW" (phrase from a Doors song of 50+ years ago) circus atmosphere that seems to surround them. C'est la vie......

@jebbear I used the picture you sent me of the harness that you built to make my own for the 867 tonight. @953 nut and @WHX21 I used the schematic that you folks posted a few months back to wire this thing up tonight. Mother Nature decided to give us some heavy wet nasty snow overnight so we had to spend some time today snow blowing and plowing which I guess I can't be too about in consideration that that was also Wheelhorse time....but because of that I wasn't able to get as much done on this tractor is I had desired. No worries.

When I had mine,( 12 x 20 ) put down a tarp, then put down used pallets over the tarp and covered the pallets with 8' x 4' pieces of OSB. Made a nice easy, inexpensive floor and kept the moisture out. Added extra black steel pipe to the roof for snow load too. Pros-- keeps your stuff dry, fairly easy to put up Cons-- They're ugly, you need to knock off the heavy loads of snow

Quite a few of us have them. The biggest problem we see is how they will hold up to the uv rays of the sun. Mine is less that a year old so time will tell. I used 3/8 driveway gravel under mine but if drainage is a problem you could elevate it a tad and use a larger stone for the base. This one was put up on a foot or better drop in grade in 13 ft so I used landscape timbers I had lying around to level it out. It's a Shelter Logic from Northern Tool ...20 x 13 I believe and holds a dozen + or - tractors given size of tractor.

Not much Wheelhorse time for a while. I have to paint the house, finish crown molding on two bedrooms, many touchups, get the yard up to par and hide a bunch of stuff so I can put the house on the market. Then I have to figure out how to get all my crap to North Carolina and come up with a place to keep it. Somewhere in there I have to find a place here to live while I finish out the year at work while momma lives in North Carolina. I have a lot on my plate. A busy 2019 for sure.

@dells68, Believe it or not, I saw this "creation" at the May 2017 Portland, IN tractor meet! Interesting, but without a fan and a cooling shroud, you'd probably lunch that engine in about a hour as slow as a tractor moves. People have gotten away with that trick on motorcycles, but they move enough air over the cylinder fins at 60 mph to get away with that stunt.

Thanks! Made more progress in last couple weeks. Made a cut-out and cover (from cut-out) for battery, Trans cover out of Craftsman louvered hood, re-did steering bell crank and pitman arm for THE 3RD TIME - and I have determined that the 3rd time really is the charm. I also got the clutch assembly mounted and a nice working linkage to a clutch pedal. Have belt installed with keepers on both drive / driven pulleys. This past Sunday I got brake caliper mounted, and now need to make a brake pedal and mech. linkage to master cyl. The list is getting shorter week by week. Hoping to transfer wire harness today and get brake working.

I would like to thank RS for the positive experience in selling my kw loader that I posted for sale on October 11 and sold within 1 week. Was nice not to have to post an add on CL and to have met another member who was knowledgeable on WH tractors.I have also mentioned to my significant other (Patti} that if anything should happen to me that all my tractors , parts and accessories is to be first offered to RS members.Happy new year to all and be safe Thank You.

Happy New Year! My resolution is to try to ask for more help... I am quite often the first to offer a hand, but hardly ever ask for one. It will be hard to do, but much needed.... I think. Be safe, love much, laugh often!

@Ed KennellKennell @KyleLengerich Well Ed. That is not a moose but Trina and I just looked at the original picture again and we believe that to be a decent sized buck. Having been out in that area of the yard multiple times while snow blowing and plowing we did notice a set of buck tracks out there. We have nearly enough deer in our Woods to have our own petting zoo right now. There was a logging project done just a couple months ago across the street and at least half a dozen animals have moved into our yard even though we have a dog. We do have a small resident moose population in the area and a few years back have had them in our backyard. There hasn't been one around here for quite a while. Trina says.... Nice catch Ed !!!

Late again... I did have another idea that was even easier to implement. Not a true locker, but more resistance than the limited slip 10 pinion.... fits under the seat pan and uses rubber wheels to engage on the tyre walls transferring rotation from one side to the other. Early Dixon ZTR mowers used this technology for the handbrake! Can be be left in place all the time but will wear the tyre walls eventually.
