7 pointsThis is a bit better than some 25% off offers. Usually the offers are one day only, but this one is for today until saturday https://www.harborfreight.com/online_coupon.html?ccdenc=OTg5Mjc4OTA=&sdt=MjAxOC0xMi0xMw==&edt=MjAxOC0xMi0xNg== Just copy down the code and tell the cashier--you do not really need to print the coupon. Gonna use my HFT settlement gift card and this coupon to buy a 20 volt hammer drill and saw and save $31.00 on a 125.00 purchase.[ Christmas gift for my daughter] https://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?dir=asc&order=EAScore%2Cf%2CEAFeatured+Weight%2Cf%2CSale+Rank%2Cf&q=high+position+motorcycle You could get this sweet lift for $135.00 using the coupon.. I use mine for lifting Horses. Motorcycles. Welding table to lift stuff to comfortable heights. installing kitchen cabinets. You name it. I actually just bought a second one to use with the other one I already have...

7 pointsDick I agree with you 100%. After selling my commando and purchasing a 1990 312-H I quickly discovered how much easier it is to mow in and around trees, fire pits and other obstacles with the commando than the 312-H. Love the hydro and the extra power but it feels clumsy in comparison. The 37 inch deck on the 312 is certainly not a plus. The little 32 rear on my commando cut beautifully. I was fortunate to find a really nice 657 this fall with a K181 upgrade (867 now) for an affordable price and will bring my 312-H to the show this summer to sell. For my money the little square hoods are the Bomb. If I had a large open area to mow then I would find a 42 side for the 312-H. Much better suited for that assignment.

6 pointsMy first was a 1055 (two more HP and a year older) and it has pushed a lot of snow for me. I have the rear tires loaded with RV Antifreeze, wheel weights, tire chains and a weight box on the back (we have a very steep drive way). The short frame tractors are very maneuverable and when it comes to working they don't take a back seat to anything.

5 pointsFather in Heaven, you are the giver of life and the great physician. You know our needs and wants. Please heal Scotty and comfort the Scholliegerdes family. We know that his body has been damaged by an automobile crash, we know that with your healing hand on him Scotty will heal completely and live a long healthy life. We also know that you can make him whole again, you can repair damaged tissue, you can enable him to continue to serve you on this Earth. Lord, hear my petition. Be with his father and mother and all family as they experience this storm in their lives. I don’t always understand your plan for us, but I do trust that you work all things for the good. I only ask that it be your will to give Scotty good health. I ask these things in the name of your Son and my Savior, Jesus Christ. All glory and honor belong to you. Amen.

5 pointsGot the bonnet/hood masked up ready for doing the black. Got one coat on but it's been a bit to cold for painting. -2c with the east wind we're getting. So I got the engine onto the bench and stripped off what's necessary prior to removing the piston and rod. The bore looks good, so when I get those out, I'll give it a bit of a clean and get the bore deglazed. Valves should be ok as I had them re-cut and I ground them in, when I did the head gasket a couple of years ago.

5 pointsThe 1965, 1966, and 1967s are basically the same horse. Most like the K-181 Kohler 8 hsp engines, and some came with the Tecumseh 6 hsp engines. Here is my 857...8 hsp electric start 1967 This is my 876 8hsp automatic trans 1966

5 pointsBeen a while since we talked. He was about to start a series of shots.... yes.... in the eye. He said they told him it was painless. Just the thought hurts me. Results are not guaranteed. Been thinking about checking in. I'll let you know. Prayers and fingers crossed can't hurt....

4 pointsIf the imperfection is deep and can't be hammered out I will use a fiber glass reinforced filler then I will do my final finishing with Bondo. Most important thing when using fillers is make sure the surface is free of rust and has a good mechanical scratch in it.
-
4 pointsThe 854 was the first 8 hp Wheel Horse. A round hood but I have owned three 856’s and although they have the square hood and some other differences the vim and vigor of this tractor is noticeably different from say a 1970’s B-80. The 856 is a great all-around garden tractor.

4 pointsThanks guys. Looks like this one will be finding it's way to my storage building from Indiana. After viewing the videos from the seller - it sounds good, new battery and new head gasket. Tires are original - but will be replaced at some point in the near future due to evidence of dry rot. Should get to see it in person next week.

4 pointsReceived a call from a friend and went and picked up a few more pieces of barn art. The first two I have seen before but the clear one that has the cutaway of the electric tractor is a new one to me. These will go nicely with the rest of the collection.

3 pointsLowell and I would like to say to each one of you thank you for the continued support and prayers. Just knowing that you all care so much means the world to us and it means so much to Scottie Scott is realizing now how special he is to each and everyone of you who send us their thoughts and prayers. Please continue to pray for Scottie and our family! Thanks again and God bless you all!
-
3 pointsI am just heart broken to hear this. Lowell and his wonderful family have been my WHCC Show pals for the last couple of years. My sales area is right across from theirs. Scott was always there to get me something from the food stands when I was too busy to leave or to watch my stuff when I had to make a nature call. He is a great kid. I wish that I were closer to you guys to be be able to help you out in some way. All I can do is wish you the best, and hope for Scott's speedy recovery.
-
3 pointsone tip I would offer whatever filler you do use take it to down to bare metal, don't go over rust or paint. bondo has a reputation there are good plastic fillers out there, I generally use the napa brand filler with good results, then apply glaze putty then prime and paint.

3 pointsMay not be necessary, if they don't hold air one can always tube them. Especially if they have the molded into them. The originals are the best tires unless they rotted that bad that they are falling off the rims, That tractor has got some serious character and looks to be original and unmolested ....would be welcome in my herd any day! Ok you got me scratching my head now Terry but it don't take much to confuse me. Dino's 876 should have the metal dash ... the plastic ones didn't come out till the 70's and the B/C series? Where's out resident historian @Racinbob when you need him?
-
3 pointsShort frame square hood with the 8hp kohler is my favorite type of horse. Can't beat em in my opinion. I have an 855 that is a trailer queen and putters around at shows and an 857 that gets extensive use. Love them both!
-
3 pointsThe tractor looks great, the trailer is very well constructed, just the wrong color

3 pointsFor those of you newer members who don't know who we are talking about. Howard https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/profile/9841-857-horse/ is a all around good fella who's a real plus to our community and anybody else's. Not to mention a real hoot. Great sense of humor and willing to do anything for anybody. I had the honor of meeting him several times. Not to mention he has a really really cool Suburban I called Fat Betty! https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/75121-wheres-howard/

3 points8 horse Kohler, 3 speed trans, bulletproof for anything pretty much... within reason👍
-
3 pointsDozer blade, disc, wagon, snow blower, rotor tiller, harrow. Just about any attachments Wheel Horse made you can use on that tractor.
-
3 pointsWhat a great bunch of guys here!!! With all the bad news I read every day, this is a needed break to hear HAPPY people. I'm 70 years old, kinda late to be thinking about a soul mate.

2 pointsI remember the first time these appeared on red square and I had the volume way up on my computer. Let's just say when I broke my first bulb it nearly sent me flying out the window. Scared the crap out of me lol
-
2 pointsWell I would agree with everything previously stated. If Imy full blown redoing and not preserving. Then I will try my hardest to straighten everything I can with whatever tool I think will do the trick. But for final touch up I like stripping to bare metal and use a fiberglass body fill. Then I will sand and the use a good etching/fill primer. Then sand and do final touch ups with bondo. Then continue with sanding and again and painting and so on. But I have learned and has been previously mentioned, do whatever works for you and is feasible for your wants and needs.
-
2 pointsThat style of is my favorite along with my 854. Even the 854 is the same, the only difference is the sheet metal.
-
2 pointsI got to thinking about Howard (857 Horse) and I noticed I haven’t heard from him in a while. I checked his profile and he hasn’t been on since the middle of October. I was wondering how his eyesight is doing. Gotta love Howard - great guy!
-
2 pointsWhat I did was grease the top of the deck and the bottom of the support plate then bolted everything up (I used a cheap paint brush for this). Then just wipe away any grease that gets squished out. Don't know if this will help but I figure it can't hurt. Cleat
-
2 pointsI have a 857, same tractor year later, only difference is the belt guard does not have the badge indent. She currently sports a later year mid mount blade and is a go to tractor for anything I can throw at it. Grading, pulling big loads of firewood, moving trailers around.... you name it. Runs out of traction long before power. Other than turf tires and with weights would help out but she is all original as sets and would like to keep it that way. Like Kev said those 8's are about bullet proof. Some guys think a bit under powered for blowing or pushing snow but there are fellas here that beg to differ and have pics to prove it. Any attachments in the mid sixties years for a short frame will fit. Front blade is a very usable attachment and easy to find. Tiller might be a little harder to find but another very usable one.

-
2 pointsWow, our Wheel Horses are "Kissing Cousins". Please post how the tracks are attached and where one can get their hands on a set. On my test ride, I was surprised at how true my skis track but I was much happier with how loose and wild the rear is. I once thought clearing snow from a driveway was fun, but it can't compare with doing figure 8s, drifting and spinning out in the snow.
-
2 pointsSitting here at therapy with Emory. Before we left, I put 3 coats of paint on his hood, fender pan, and belt guard. He insisted on the darker shade of gray. I have to admit it looks pretty good and is much lighter sprayed over a whole panel than I expected. I used Krylon paint and it sprayed out much better than I expected. Lots more to go.
-
2 pointsI appreciate that. My sole intent was to spread a little bit of knowledge, because as we learned on Saturday mornings...
