@19richie66 Rich, on many levels I want to thank you. First, to put together a give away for our supporting members is a very kind and generous thing to do. In doing so, it helps RedSquare members realize that there's more than just forum support that they are giving, but receiving value in non-forum areas as well. For those who aren't aware, many vendors provide discounts to supporters of RedSquare so supporting pays for itself over and over again. Second, the items you've crafted are truly beautiful. Having seen on up close and in person, I can say that I don't own a camera good enough to properly capture the craftsmanship. They are first rate. \ Finally - I'm very grateful that my number was chosen. For the others out here, no this was not rigged, I would not allow that to happen on this forum, I was just lucky that the second number chosen was mine. Personally and on behalf of RedSquare, thank you for putting this together. It was fun, and really showcases the contributions to our community are beyond tractor talk. I have always said that I am not here for the tractors, but for the people and I am always proud when this little place on the web represents the best the world has to offer. Thank you again! Karl

Made a front weight for my work tractor. Noticed when bagging full leaves the front is a little light in the steering. This is even with filled front tires. 42.5# SS filled with lead and can still use the mule drive.

This summer I had the AC 912H over at my son's new pole barn site doing some grader work. Had the job site Boss keeping a close eye on Grandpa's grading skills.

I took this picture on my way home from work. I was quite amused & thought it might make a fun caption this.

Browsing through local craigslist ads and found this in St. Louis Missouri. Looks like somebody had a creative imagination. When was the last time you saw one of these!?

Thanks for tagging me on this @19richie66. It would have been easy for me to miss it as I've been so busy on the house. Gary, I'd love to see how your 654 cleans up. My oldies sport fresh paint but they weren't candidates for the patina look. There's something about an original that warms a lovers heart. I was born and raised in this area and then after 17 years in Florida we decided it was time to come back again. My Dads first new Wheel Horse was a 1960 Suburban 400 he purchased when I was 5 years old and then he bought a new 704 which is basically the same as your 654 but with a Kohler pull start under the hood. I've been hooked on them ever since. I think it's safe to say that I was horsing when horsing wasn't cool (put the music to it....it works ) After selling my large herd in 2000 I've since rebuilt my small herd back up to 5. In Florida most folks look at you like you're from outer space when you mention Wheel Horse but I started my return down there by finding a 2005 Classic GT, then a Suburban 400 like my Dads first one and was given a 657 and 500 Special which I restored the 500 Special using both tractors. Since my return to the Hoosier state I added a 1976 which I actually purchased new (yea, quite a story there) and an 854 I purchased at the last big show. Somewhere in the midst of that I discovered this forum and quickly discovered that there's nothing else like the great folks that make this site what it is. I don't know about the wealth of Wheel Horse information or the all around cool guy but I do know that I LOVE to talk Wheel Horses. We should get together and do just that.

I see that It's plumbing ready...Perfect for a PTO driven jet for a mobile hot tub...could use a waterline that wraps around the muffler for heat...winter WH cab for modesty for the ladies if they wish...the possibilities are endless...

Hi all I just thought that I would share my custom bracket to mount an aftermarket fuse block on my 1990 520. Since I do not like drilling extra holes in my machines I used the two factory holes and went from there. I also eliminated the 9 pin connector and ran the charge wire from the fuse block straight to the starter so that aloud me to use two 4 pin weather pack automotive style connectors. They should used this style of connector at the factory because it sure would of saved some of us the electrical headaches associated with are awesome 520's.

@nylyon I am truly humbled by your kind words. Thank you for all you do here (along with the mods) keeping us a place to go that is fun, entertaining and informative. I have fun making these cups along with my daughter. I get to spend some time with her while doing these. She has been doing the clear coat on them and while they are far from perfect, they turn out nice. I have had the blessing of meeting some fine people on here and getting to know some I have never met. Just my way of giving back a little of what I have received on here. Keep an eye out for a redsquare cup giveaway, hopefully soon.

Bring that bad boy to Wisconsin and we'll fill it full of beer and ice, then throw some bratwurst on the grill and have a good ole time!!!

That's the thing, at one point in time, companies built for quality and brand name. That was most important! Since that time, profit and investors took main stage. Who could build good enough and turn a good profit. Yet not so good that you wouldn't need another. Built in obsolescence. Since the advent of cheaper made products we've become a throw away society. That's why in my mind old iron has stood the test of time, no matter what brand.

Picked up a charger 12 at auction yesterday. Put a battery, new fuel lines and a new spark pug in and it fired right up. Hydro seems to work pretty well, lever needs some adjustments but other wise it seems okay. I would like to put fresh transmission fluid in and a new filter on yet and then it should be good to go. I'm gonna start using this for plowing instead of my 753, i tried it out today and it seemed to work pretty well. The paint on the fenders and hood is a little off but it wont be hard to fix that.

Moved them both into their new stable the other day, lighting was better today though haha. Also learned not to leave the keys in the tractors, because toddlers will kill your batteries 😂

Speaking of lazy, I hope any football fans are enjoying their game today! As for me, I’m a fan of Wheelhorse and shop time is my couch time Did some belt guard trimmin’, this looks to be as close as I want to get to the tensioner. Time to attempt to make two guards become one. I’ll be using @19richie66‘s suggestion by tacking, peening, grinding, repeat.

Hey all, Been here for a while don't post much but read a lot. Currently have a few horses in the stable and found a new one to add. I am having a hard time finding much out about it. I know that you guys can tell me what I have. This little tractor was being put to the road for trash. It still has the lot number tags on the snow plow. The muffler is not even rusty. The old man said that his father in law had it and didn't use it. Pic is worth a thousand words so... Pic it apart, bust the bubble so to speak. But I am happy to have it lol

Looks like something the Garden Tractor Mafia's odd ball @WHX21 needs in his collection. I could just imagine him and @Achto riding around at Portage next year.

I would add something to the rear of the running board to prevent a heel from being jammed by the tire. That would hurt. Garry

One more vote for a good ol' elbow grease cleanup and not a repaint. I have a repainted/restored 854 and a "patina" Commando 8 and I prefer the patina!

to the coolest forum on the planet. Have fun searching around and getting to know the members here. I think it is especially great that you live in the birthplace of these beloved little tractors. Be forewarned—these tractors are like potato chips, you can’t just have one! Concerning your 654, I highly recommend cleaning and buffing it well, finding a techy and dealing with any mechanical gremlins. That patina is soooo cool and it is a family heirloom tractor to boot. Do you have any pictures of it through the years? Those would be super cool to post here on the forum, I love those vintage pictures. Can’t wait to hear stories that you or your dad may have about this tractor. Glad and you found us

Kevin—that is a great practical item to have in your tractor shop! Saves the back BIG TIMES! I need to develop something like that in the near future. Unfortunately mine won’t be built in, but it will be nice to have something that would lift at least up to chest height or so. A HUGE thanks to my Local Circle buddy @WHX21 Jim for coming over and sacrificing part of his Saturday to begin the installation of heat in my shed. I built this platform to place the furnace on yesterday and Jim brought over the new equipment figured I’d include a pic of his “best side”! Next up is installation of the tin work and plumbing. He is a veteran in the HVAC business and it shows. Great to have friends with awesome skills willing to share...

Today, I got the Horses ready for winter. Bring on the snow! Of course, seeing how I did this the first weekend of November, we probably won't get snow for 3 months.

Fun with the kiddos horsing around today! Claudia got to drive Big Red around with the yard cart while her and the little boys cleaned up the remaining nasty old apples... They had fun making “making baskets” with the old apples it was about 45 degrees out but the sun made it feel like a comfortable late fall Wisconsin day. Won’t be long and we will probably be seeing at least traces of the white stuff on the ground. Meanwhile... Caleb and I plowed under the old strawberry garden. It was the first time plowing with Caleb’s Comanche and he had a blast. I was afraid that he was going to start plowing under the lawn when I had my back turned... I wouldn’t trade these days with my favorite little people for anything!
