Terry @Vinylguy knocked it out of the park yet again (not that anyone should be surprised by that!)!!! As some of you know, I acquired a relatively rare PP-10HD plow designed for the 953/1054 tractors (thank you @953 nut for suppling the info and original sales brochure) for Dad a couple years back. We intended to use it on his 875 until we realized that it was too heavy to handle with the strong arm lift and sonit went on the shelf until we got Dad “Clyde” for his birthday. Then this plow was perfect for the tractor is was designed to be used on. Anyway, after Dad refurbished it and added his own custom land wheel, we knew it needed a custom Terry graphic. We bounced some different ideas back and forth and settled on this one... Definitely a nice finishing touch to an awesome and functional attachment! Terry for another outstanding job!

Picked up this beautiful old vintage iron this week.

I also have a partial rotator cuff issue...Dr of course wanted to operate but 8 weeks in a sling (right arm) not for me. Two years ago I ruptured an Achilles tendon and spent 3 months in a boot no driving not going to do that again. My shoulder and i have come to an understanding. i limit what I make it do and it leaves me alone.. Hope you recovery goes well...and quickly.

Here's my first shot at a rig that uses both the transaxle and the lower hitch point. Not pretty, but for my use, form follows function. To overcome the slight taper of the transaxle I used a couple lengths of conveyor belting cut to fit under the 2" angle. It might also possibly help to dissipate sudden shocks on the hitch with heavy loads over rough terrain. Cheers! Dave

Little late, but finally got the land wheels done for the plows. Hope to make it out again plowing.

Covered her in sawdust today. After the nice rain and now the wind is blowing, I figured I would do some overdue tree trimming. Hopefully tomorrow I can get her 3 point hitch parts painted. Suppose to be low humidity and no chance of rain. I primed them last week and they have been hanging in the shed since.

Took it out for a spin! Then I dug the broken bulbs out of the headlights and pulled the old wiring in the Charger 10, and taught the son the finer points of the game “Chicken” 😂

Well besides picking a up B80 recently, I also had another friend give me a 1962 Cub Cadet Original project. So far it is coming along nicely, even had it started up. Some "Before and After" pictures. Still have a ways to go yet.

Well I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself because all I can do is look at my tractors. Just had surgery on my shoulder to fix my rotator cuff ! Now it's time for therapy !!!! Therapy is going real well although very expensive! Going back to work on Monday Yeeee. Haaaaa!

Well thanks to @PeacemakerJack for confirming my thoughts, the seat looks pretty “at home” with the spring reversed. The hydro transmissions have a four bolt pattern unlike the gear jammers, so the tool box/fender support will need to incorporate an adapter of some type.

Definitely good times if you start them off young. My son is still in the custom truck phase and my daughter doesn’t care anything about them. So I kinda do this by myself but its relaxing when I’m not smashing a finger or tripping over an airhose.

Thanks fellas! They both love to sit on the tractors, and my son is always “fixing” his lol. Have a feeling there will be some father/ son and father/ daughter bonding done over these machines.

Hi I've been tasked by a good friend to fix his childhood tractor, He doesn't know one end of a screwdriver from another so he has asked me to help. I'm no mechanic but more mechanically inclined than him. So what I have is a started project from his father who has passed away and he would like to get it going for himself and kids , I said I'll get it done. I believe its a late 50's tractor. I'll get some picks up soon. I'm going to start with the motor, I'll start a new thread on that.

Tried that once with an oak door on the front of an 85 Toyota H-5. Snapped the board.

Like Jay said, it looks like the short frame was extended. But it is probably still too short to use on a long frame tractor. My guess is it was still used on a short frame, but extended so the newer style axle bracket could be used. You did good to get two complete snow/dozer plows , a draw bar hitch, and wheel weights for $150. The only thing I see missing is a pair of blade trip springs.

I was thinking that same thing when you talked about needing to raise the steering wheel to make up for the seat height. If the hood stand is tilted forward it will also bring the steering shaft closer to vertical so it won't impinge on the seat too badly. May need a small universal joint and pillow block to keep the steering gear in proper alignment. If you need a bit more room for the spark plug you could always use a gear drive mower gear cover like @Ed Kennell did on the low rider.

Believe me I know your pain . Just do what your therapist tells you and you’ll be back in the saddle in no time .

Following this post with excitement and enthusiasm. Going over today to pick up a Brinly plow, if all goes well, that was listed on CL for $35. Never count my chickens until they hatch but have already went to Brinly's site to get the manual. I will use this post to get up and running. Thanks for all the great information. Got back with the plow and it is in great condition.

Dell, try some 303 marine protectant. Soak it down and lay it in the sun for a little bit. I use the stuff and love it. Not greasy and really works great. Ain’t cheap though.

@Tractorhead have you posted pictures of your loader? It sounds interesting especially as it’s aluminium! I think i misunderstood your question, did you mean how much will mine lift? If so I haven’t actually tested it with weights. I have picked up this lawn roller full of water without sitting in the seat, so I’ll guess with a driver 200/250kg?

I bought a wheel horse trailer,blade motor parts and box's of stuff so maybe it goes with the trailer that I fix it up

Just a little farther along. The engine I have has the two 1/4” studs to hold the muffler on instead of internal threads. I considered tapping it, but decided to make a bolt on flange instead to hopefully ease any future exhaust work. My 2 1/2” pulley came and my homemade belt guard is going to work out ok. It’s just resting in place in the pics. I got the oil bath I got from @Aldon mounted as well and it looks great! Also, I picked up an almost perfect original seat pan from eBay with a matching patina cover. I think I’ll back the tears with new vinyl and possibly stitch around them to make sure they don’t tear further. Anyone have any tips for softening old, stiff vinyl?

@ebinmaine the ones on this tractor are 16x7.50-8 and they have a little more of a wide and flatter surface to them. But they do steer well and seem to grip good. But on my regular b80 I got Deestone 16x6.50-8 ags and there a little narrower and not as flat of surface area. But I did a lot of work with the b80 at camp at around the house and I love the way that one steers and handles. Not sure if you can see the difference in pics but heres some to compare.

I reckon I need to get at it a refinish dad's in resto-mod style, @TIGman, looks darn good to me, I basically grew up on ours when dad bought it used in '77/78, thanks for sharing, Jeff. Here's a pic right after dad and I "restored" it when I was 12 or 13 now 47 and one just a couple years ago.

There's just a special feeling of plowing the ground. I really enjoy it. It is very relaxing to me.

Well got the engine running today. Sounds pretty good. Now that I know it runs, over the next few days I will remove the stock key switch box from side of engine and rewire it to use the stock key switch/controls in the dash. Nice Cub Originals Guys. I too let one slip through my fingers about 6 years ago. They pop up on a regular basis in our area and I’d really like to pick up a nice example at some point. Excellent work as always @Jim Demery on that restore. @pullstart Kevin—I’ve had the u spring boTh ways on various tractors and it doesn’t seem to make a whole lot of difference other than which way the seat tips while “springing” up and down...my .02 cents anyway

Hard to tell on my phone but it looks like an extension has been added to the old style frame so it will work on newer tractors...
