Ok Red Square supporters. If your name is in RED (or BLUE if you are an admin ), you are eligible for this “contest”. I have had numerous members on here give me parts, advice, friendship and memories to last me a lifetime. I believe in giving back. I had made myself a cup and a couple had seen it in a picture and wanted one. So I made some. This one here was an experiment to see if I could duplicate “patina”. I think it came out ok. It’s a 20oz stainless Ozark Trail cup. These are handmade so the clear coat is not always smooth as glass but they come out nice. So here is the giveaway. The “Patina Cup”. Post in here and each supporter will be given a number in order of posting and I will compile a list and try to keep it updated daily. I will use a number generator and pick the winner. If you are not in the USA, you will be responsible for shipping. Will be picking a number Sunday afternoon, October 21. Thank you Red Square for letting me hangout and make this place a part of my life. 👊 LET’S TAKE IT UP A NOTCH 👊 I have this 40oz jug I bought but I didn’t notice it had two small dents on the bottom till I got home. Oh well...... let’s add it to the game. First number picked will have a choice of the cup or the jug. Will draw a second number for whatever is left. ***DO NOT PUT THESE IN THE DISHWASHER OR BLEACH THEM***

I can't imagine NOT paying my supporter dues to this site...with all the great people and wonderful knowledge we share here...I went a few months in the black due to budget constraints, I was happier than a kid in a candy store when I could finally be back among the red again

In honor of Richie’s @19richie66 new awesome custom cups, I started this thread. I know that some of you have already purchased and received his new cups. These things are quality pieces and he can personalize them to your tastes. You can honestly say, “I have the ONLY cup like this in existence!” I started this thread to showcase that these aren’t just works of art but also very functional. I used mine with a cold drink last night for leading my TeenGroup at church and then promptly left it. So, stopped by first thing this morning to pick it up before it got legs and disappeared. It still had ice in it 12 hours later. I also like the metal lining as it doesn’t add the plastic taste to the beverage of choice that cheaper cups often do. My cup is a “house divided” cup with Wheel Horse on one side and IH on the other with my Avatar “Peacemaker Jack” around the bottom. I requested the Patina look on mine and am totally happy with how it turned out. He even brushed little rivets in the corners to make it look like two pieces of metal wrapped around the cup and held on by rivets. Top notch work and will certainly be a conversation piece wherever you use it. Please post pictures of your custom mug/cup from Richie and tell us about your specific design...

I had a real good friend ask if I'd like a Wheel Horse to tinker on? Sure. He gave me a B80 that had been setting out in the barn quite a few years. Free is always a good price. Hope to get her back running soon.

WOW!! That looks great Richie. This is so cool of you to do this. Don't add me to the list since you've already given me one but I just wanted to give you a Folks, if you're user name isn't in red it just takes a minute to make it that way and help support the very best Wheel Horse forum with the very best members on the internet.

I blew the motor aut of the trusty Raider 10 . This tractor was advertised as a 12 horsepower 1967 Wheel Horse for $250.00. Runs well and mows well. When I pointed out that the displacement was not enough for a 12 HP at 241CC, he hemmed and hawed and offered me a price of $150.00. I checked 1967 models and it seems to be a 1057. Good compression and does not burn oil if he is telling the truth. Anyway, here it is... I will pick it up later

Well besides picking a up B80 recently, I also had another friend give me a 1962 Cub Cadet Original project. So far it is coming along nicely, even had it started up. Some "Before and After" pictures. Still have a ways to go yet.

Didn't even know these existed. I was searching the web for some parts for my B100 and this popped up. Dude wants 6 Bill's for it. He only lives 100 miles from me, maybe I'll go check it out.

I ordered up a couple of these from Richie and I have to agree with everyone else. The quality is top-notch. The artwork is excellent. And I also do love the fact that you can put something cold or hot in it and it will stay exactly what it was supposed to be. Not. Luke. Warm. Here's a couple of Trina's cup. Mine is identical. The unboxing of... And here is the requested cupholder shot. This was taken on our way home from the last camping trip we did. Maybe two or three weeks ago?

@DaleLicht a member here @JayB had a manufacture built these and sells them in the classified. I have one on my C-160. Go to classified and search for muffler and they will come up. Sorry, I don't know how to link to the add. He and Jimkemp both provide great products.

The problem is almost certainly with the shift rails. The suction issue as Steve said was a problem that Wheel Horse came out with a service bulletin instructing people to use 40wt in hopes to minimize it. Shortly after that they added the flat. Their next step was to make the center neutral detent deeper and use a 3/4" stop pin in lieu of the 11/16". This forced one of the rails to be in the neutral position at all times. The first revised rail was like the one on the left here: Then they made the detents go all the way around like this: That was done for manufacturing purposes as the rails don't rotate at all. You could find a set of newer rails. They all interchange. The spring and balls are the same. Only the stop pin is different. They can be used in any combination with the 11/16" pin but the 3/4" pin requires the newer rails.

A monkey ward that is! This thing has the look and what a beast it is! It is in decent original shape, just all the decals are faded off. I know it's made by gilson and probably a 66 or 67 model. Anyone have a manual for it? Needs a good fuel system cleaning and some electrical work. Anyone else here have one like this? Don't find a whole lot about it on the old interweb. There is a manual on ebay, but i don't really want to pay $45 for a copy. Anyway, i'm looking forward the bringing this thing to life! And as the title states i did trade a horse for this. Am i crazy? lol

Found this Cub Cadet 100 on CL. Ad says it still runs, but needs a "car" battery. It has the 42 inch front blade with it. Ad also says it's a 1960, which we all know is incorrect since IH didn't sell their first L&G until 1961, and it was the Original. The 70 and 100 came out later, in 1963. Anyways, it doesn't run and has at least the starter/generator froze up, if not the engine (let's hope not!!!!). Seller says it needs a coil, but I have to address that when I can access the engine and the S/G situation. It was a brother and sister who had it, it was their dad's who bought it new. They still have the operator's manual for it. Deck worn out long, long ago, and after seeing their yard, I can understand why. I told him the rear tires were on backwards, but he said they were always like that and I wasn't the first one to point that out. I didn't get it home until late last night, so the only pictures I have is from the ad.

Finally got around to updating lights. Cut some lexan for lens, since I seem to break everything else , masked and back painted outline, sandblasted and epoxied buckets and installed LED lamps. A real "bright" spot on otherwise Patina rich 69 Charger 12 tractor. Start Here.exe

I’m not sporting my Richie cup yet, I still need to go pick it up from him! Until then, a cup with my business logo that my wife had made for me... F J is Frank John, my late Grandfather. He had a trucking company in the 60’s with the same logo, I had it digitized for my company.

Just a little history on those shift rails. Wheel Horse's first transmission was the #5003 and then the #5010 (3 piece) uses most of the same parts as the two piece #5007 and #5025. The 3 piece transmissions had side plates, so the suction problem was not there...the shift rails were not sitting in blind holes. When the 2 piece transmissions came along, those rails ended up in a blind hole...on both ends. If you shifted to fast from 2nd or 3rd into 1st or reverse (or vise versa) the suction could suck the vacated shift rail back into gear while the shifter ball was in the other shift rail fork. Thus your trans ended up in 2 gears at the same time. The only fix was to pull the shifter and move both forks back into neutral. The first fix Wheel Horse tried was to use a lighter oil then the 90wt. When that did not solve the problem, they ground a flat on the shift rails and lengthened the stop...plus grinding the neutral groove a little deeper to manage the new stop. With the new stop and new rails, you cannot shift the other rail while in gear. I would feel very comfortable just grinding a flat on the rails as shown in the pictures. This would eliminate the suction. Piece of cake...and no money.

Got another update. Got the tires in this week, the Kenda Terra Tracs. I was able to dismount the 8 inch front tires by hand, wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Bad news is that the side-walls pretty much disintegrated when I broke the bead and they are no good. I need to clean up the front wheels now before I mount the new fronts. Good news on the rears, my dad was able to use his automotive tire machine at work, and got the new tires on super easy. In addition, the old wheel-horse rear tires are still in good shape. Some slight surface cracking as seen in the pictures I posted before, but they still hold air fine and overall are in pretty good shape. I'm sure the rears are re-usable. The terra tracs fit pretty good on the 7" wheels. They do bow a little on the tread, but my dad said he put about 20 psi in the tires. The factory manual says to run about 8 if I recall correctly, so that may help flatten the tread out. I will say that these new tires look incredible. Much more aggressive than the turf savers. We'll see how they do on the grass. My next issue I'm going to have is what color I want to paint the wheels. I want to run the stock chrome hub-caps (pictured below). Part of me was thinking about doing a black-and-red theme on this. Paint the frame black, and some other small pieces black. The 2-piece seat is already black (and in really nice shape considering its age). I was thinking about black wheels with the hub caps, but thought the tire would blend with the wheel. I am actually leaning towards red wheels, and would make the chrome really pop if they had a little ring of bright red around them. Anyways, that's it for today. I posted some pics of the tires below in case anybody is curious.

I think I’m really sold on Star. It fits Josh’s requirements of rolling off the tongue a little better than John Philip Sousa! Rylee is in, Jada wants to come up with something that “nobody knows about.” I have to hand it to her for wanting to be unique, but I’m gonna have to work on her anyways.

Wow! Kevin, you may have opened a “can of worms” by asking “the storyman” to throw his hat into the tractor naming ring. Let me explain to you a couple of instances how I have come up with names and then I’ll make some suggestions for you that I have. Joining the GT hobby with Cub Cadets first back about a decade ago, at first they were nameless. Then as I collected more of them, I decided that names would help for the ones that I was keeping. My cousin named my diesel CubKub for Cub Cadet/Kubota engine. Tractors that I no longer own include Cubbie and Cubber. Judges Cub 100 we call “the Mule” because of its plow capabilities. Claudia named her Case GT “Casey”. When I got into Wheel Horses, the naming options opened up for several reasons. First and foremost, should a person want to do it, many famous horses in history have names. For instance, Caleb chose to name his 854 “Comanche” because that was the unions sole survivor of the battle of the Little Big Horn. He was General Custer famous mount and since Caleb’s tractor is an amazing condition survivor, we thought it a fitting name. Some names work, others don’t. Whatever you decide, you try it and see if it will stick. Two of my Local Circle plow buddies got Raiders in the last couple of years. I tried to get them to name them “Lyle” and “Howie” after to of the most famous NFL Raiders players of the late 1970’s but it was a no go! Maybe because we are in Packer country... However, for a name to work on any machine, it needs to feel natural and not to elaborate. Simple and easy to roll off the tongue. Mrs. Pullstart has a very interesting horse to start with since it has the unique stars theme. I really like the name “Liberty” for the tractor but that got my story brain going. I thought, “What is more patriotic than George Washington?” He rode horses throughout the war for independence and since I’m about 25 years out of high school, it was time to research what their names were—Nelson and Blueskin. Very interesting stories on both horses and worth the read. Nelson would be a fun name but not my first choice for the tractor at hand. Blueskin would be great on @ebinmaine’s blue horse but he has already named it. So then I started to look through the long list of famous American war horses. Here are some that I liked... —Captain —Cincinnati call it “Cinny” for short —Red Eye —Traveller —Red Pepper (only if it is a ‘spicy’ horse like @fast88pu‘s latest concoction!) —Duke (a personal favorite because it’s tie in with one of my favorite actor/patriots-John Wayne) BUT THEN...I stumbled across the name Sybil Ludington. Does that ring a bell with anyone reading this? Probably not. I’m not sure that I ever heard the name either. Apparently she was a feisty 16 year old who grew up in the home of a famous military man from the Colonial period in America. The same night of Paul Revere’s famous ride she was called upon to do the same thing. The man that had come to her families door was too weary to go on rousting the militia. Her father had more important obligations at the moment and so she was called upon to carry the important message on her faithful steed that night. The horses name was “Star”! I thought that would fit well with Mrs. pullstart’s machine for obvious reasons. If you don’t care for the post Kevin, you can ask the mods to make it disappear but don’t say I didn’t warn you! You asked for the storyman to give you a few names. Maybe one of these will spur some thoughts of your own or maybe you like one of them... I’ll continue to follow along.

I am excited to have my own personalized coffee mug from Richie. We felt that the patina look would match the survivor patina of Comanche. We decided to implement an arrowhead on the cup. Richie put my avatar on the backside of the cup in large letters, angled. Today dad picked us up from school in the Goat. That was very cool until I noticed a problem with dad’s GTO however, it doesn’t have any cupholders Guess who get to be the cupholder—for myself and Dad! A small price to pay for riding a vintage car. Thank you Richie for the awesome cup. I plan to use it a lot

Motor oil for the small 4 cycle Honda pumps I service. They hold very little. That bottle will do 4 almost 5 water pumps.

Don't let my first picture confuse you. That's an original style and the first revised style together. Both rails have the deeper neutral detents. The 1st/reverse rail has equally spaced detents and the 2nd/3rd rail has unequally spaced detents. I'm with Eric on not trying to grind them deeper. I'd suggest doing what Steve said and see where you're at. It would be nice to replace the rails with the newer style and longer pin since you will have it apart but if everything is right the old style will be fine.

Since it’s for the misses, you could name it “Rosie” short for “Roosevelt” after Captain James Roosevelt USMC, FDRs son, and Executive Officer of the 2nd Raider Battalion during WWII🤷🏻‍♂️😂 *I was going through catching up on notifications “pre coffee” and got twisted around... another one was talking about a Raider, so disregard, until it’s time to name a new Raider 😂
