Got a lead on a couple RJs from a friend of mine that lives a couple towns over. I contacted the owner and come to find out he had two RJs and a Raider 10. The raider 10 was purchased brand new by his brother with a plow and deck. And the RJs he’s owned for about 20 years. So after hearing some background on the machines I hooked up my trailer, grabbed a wad of cash and headed over there. For those that know me, I know I don’t need another machine or 3 like a hole in my head but who says no to a couple horses? Long story short, I purchased everything he had wheel horse! The RJs came with a snow plow, bottom plow and reel mower attachment

Set up at S.CR.A.P. Show in Gibsonburg, Oh. Large show but need to see more garden tractors here. If you’re close and can make it, bring a tractor or two or just stop by to say hi. Show runs Fri, Sat, Sun. And the big auction is a Monday. (Labor Day) All brands/makes welcome. I brought 3 Horses, a Ford, & a Sears. Hope to see you!! That was talked about in the Adios thread. This is a one family tractor. It was bought new in April 1967. It was bought with the mower deck and the front dozer blade. The owner then added a dump cart . . all Wheel Horse accessories. It has not been restored, just kept fairly well ,condition wise. It's missing a few little things and certainly there are lots of scratches, but to find an original paint tractor 51 years later, is pretty cool I think.

Just purchased vintage Wheel Horse from estate sale . Family has no information or paper work , stated it belonged to their 93 year YOUNG Father who had just passed away . By viewing your photo's I would guess it as a #953 { 1963 } or a #1054 {1964 } Serial # tag # 42654 , Kohler 9 h.p. engine { K-Seris -Magnum} Tractor / engine runs good , new hydraulic rebuild , lift cylinder . Three speed transmission will need to be opened up , it locks into two gears { Reverse is problem } Very impressed with all that I have seen and read , any assistance greatly appreciated . The proper seat lift support seems to be getting hard to find and expensive so I found this to work quite well. I use a Strongarm 6915 that uses ball mounts on both ends. The ball mounts can be bought new or do as I did and visit your local scrap yard and pilfer some from old cars. Cleat

Picked this up a couple months ago and was sceptical as I am of most Hydrogear Sunstrands.I have gone through all fluid/filter changes and got to the hydro inspection/tune.No relief spring issues,no broken pawl.This stud will climb a wall.I picked up several cat 0 implements but I just noticed there is no down pressure on this three point.Is there supposed to be?I had a 69 electro that had down pressure.Why wouldn't this beast

That's pretty awesome. I'm 47. Been through ummm... A lot... a few years back . I crashed and burned.. and I lived and learned. I'm more active now than ever before. My honey is the finest person I've ever known. Life is amazing. I feel great !!! Thanks for sharing!

The drain plug on the 953 should be at the front of the oil pan. Please pardon the dirt on this one, it is a barn find worker.

I went to see this Allis Chalmers for $375. I love everything about Wheel Horse, but my grandfather was devoted to Allis Chalmers tractors on his farm. So, I have a soft spot for the name plate. After going to look at this tractor, I passed on it. It just wasn't made quite right. It didn't have the solid simplicity (pun intended) of a Wheel Horse. The seller is a great guy, and he finally offered to deliver it to me for $270 and my nonworking 10hp Kohler motor. So it's in my garage. It has a 1987 16hp cast iron Kohler, and it is the best sounding Kohler I have heard. When did they quit making cast iron Kohlers? it has a makeshift gas tank right now, and he gave me the original gas tank that has a significant split. I can get a picture if necessary. Is there anyway to repair a plastic tank that has more than a hairline crack?

This is pretty cool. Never seen the decal with all this information on the older Onans till I got a D-160. Just thought I'd share.

The unit @HorseWhisperer has here is set up for that type hook up. The cylinder would connect to the two points I have circled in green.

Thank you Sir! Made it there in good shape. Half the battle. Had trailer wiring issues so had to leave it home. Glad it will fit in the truck but now I have to get it in there.

What's not to like about a '67!?!? If that tractor wasn't so far away it would have been in my shed with my 1067,1257,1077, 1277, 857! Glad to see it's went to a good home. The attachments look in really good shape. I got a bunch of extra wheel caps if you need one.

I believe you are a hundred percent accurate with all of your above guesses. Dell and wall fish and you and everybody else. This was taken from the same auction site that I got that baby farm tractor from. He built both. This was also the same place that I dug that green Whatchamacallit out from under the trees. He probably did not build that but who knows? I don't know how old this fella was when he passed away a few months ago but his wife seems like she went by 70 quite a while ago. I don't know if they actually had internet or not but he had been messing around with wheel horses for 30 or 40 years. He had a professional quality machine shop and did a lot of repairs that many people would not get into including rebuilding automatic and manual transmissions and getting into the engines and doing his own machine work. From what I've seen of his work he could paint pretty well but he wasn't real big on making body panels particularly smooth. Seems as though he was clearly going for function, not prettiness. You guys are correct about the hood being patched together. His wife knew about that. She pointed it out to me. As pointed out above it may not be in original but it is clearly a well-built solid drivable show or parade tractor or whatever.

there is a choke lever on the carb behind the fuel line hose clamp your engine has a kohler carter carburetor on it Clinton used carter carbs on many different engine models but they are generally only on the much older ones your engine is a 3 1/2 hp built on the same block as a B1290 someone has changed the carburetor as the one on your engine is not stock give me a call sometime and I can probably answer all your questions about it Brian

'Fish & Dells are spot on. If it was the original motor it would have been a B1290. That motor possibly came off a tiller or a reel mower or some other implement of destruction. Real close to a B1290 Here's a link where you can research Clintons some more. Clintons are a lot like Onans... either you love them or hate them. Charlie @clintonnut forgot more about Clintons than most guys know. He's not on here much anymore but you might be able to reach out to him on FB. http://www.clintonengines.us/Home.html It almost looks like someone took a 'Burb hood and filled in the dash area to mimic a RJ hood. It appears that the hole for the throttle cable passes through in the wrong spot but that's slicing hairs. Look up under the rear of the hood and see if there are patch marks there. My guess is that what is going on here is someone had a RJ59 carcass that he was trying to make somewhat correct with whatever parts he could or had on hand. Hats off to that PO as he most likely didn't have access to the talent and knowledge here on RS! Probably no internet to do any kind of research on.

I will be sure to get more pictures soon guys, going to decide on whether to restore the RJs or just run them as they are as well. The raider is a nice little worker with decent patina overall

That is an amazing survivor, obviously has been loved all it's life. One of our vendors on here makes the little parts you are looking for, unfortunately he suffered a stroke in the spring and is recuperating right now. Be patient and he will be back.

Good to see "The Beast" out at a show, We would love to see some individual pictures of each of tour tractors as well as show pictures.

E=May 4=4 9=1959 I'm with Dells68, looks like the hood was graphed together, Suburban front section with an RJ rear or homemade rear section. RJ-59 with modified hood Replacement engine Not sure what that ring is on the left axle tube Can't quite tell what's up with the pedal linkage but it appears like it was extended so the pedal sits more forward than the normal link would allow. Something's up with the front spindles and steering linkage. Just can't make out exactly what's going on

I think you've got yourself a 59rj with a suburban hood grafted onto the back of the original hood. Belt guard is homemade. Fuel tank is wrong too. Kinda like one I saw at the big show that was a mix of rj and suburban. Still a really nice machine!

Got a little more work done to it. And honestly I may just weld up the hole and just go with the bed it has, and just wait until I need to get a new floor, to replace it. Or if I find some metal that works.

I know I can get yellow tygon but that's about 3 bucks a foot. I've used some blue vinyl stuff in the past. That's almost two bucks a foot. Just wondering what you all do as far as fuel line goes. I don't use black rubber because I like to be able to see the gas move down the line during diagnosis and also for fuel shut-off reasons.

It really depends on the time of day and what I have been working on.Some times it's 40 some times its 80.

There was another option for the GT-14....a 2nd hydraulic cylinder on the 3 pt lift with a 2nd control valve. This allowed you to have mid AND rear hydraulic lifting capabilities at the same time.

Got both of the RJs fired up and cruised around the neighborhood some today! Even messed with the plow in some portions of my yard with one of them

Yeah pretty much what I had planned. He has an enclosed trailer we are going to put it in and then put his ramp on my tailgate and push away.

Don't plug this port. That will dead head the pump. You will need to run a hose from that port over to the filter inlet where the other metal line connects to it. The early models used rubber hoses. I have some used ones, they are also on ebay or you can get one made. The metal lines do come out, just a little tricky. You can use a quality swagelok connector to join the tubing, it runs around 600 PSI max I believe.
