12 pointsI heard the northbound lane of I-83 was jammed up. Some little red tow truck stayed in the hammer lane the entire 50 miles from Baltimore to York.
-
10 pointsI brought a car up with my 876 from Baltimore to repair a leaking fuel line. I'm really amazed at the potential that these little tractors have! Seriously I just used it to move it around. The worst problem I had with moving it was getting traction that little 8hp Kohler is amazing!
-
7 pointsTerry is so great, he even makes decals for things other than horses! I have a rare locally made walk behind called a wiseacre tractor that he made decals for and they turned out great!
-
6 pointsThe little lady and the boys bought one of Mike Castagno's seats for my birthday and I put that on the 68 Commando 8, nice touch!

6 pointsBe very cautious if there is any gradient involved...once the car starts rolling the horse will have a hard time stopping it
-
5 pointsSomething to consider before selling it. If you ever sell the tractor, most buyers will be looking for a deck (or an attachment/s) to go with it.
-
4 pointsI actually did it Sunday and northbound 83 was backed up outside of Baltimore so I came back on York Road through MD until I got to PA then it was open. Let me see 5 mph for about 50 miles? About 10 hours each way!
-
4 pointsGround was a little soggy but I had a break in the weather so I figured I would give it a try. Wifey helped with the video. Using my wheel horse tractor as a capstan winch. First try on the prototype. for a proof-of-concept I believe it works. Have to work out the stability aspects a little bit more. It lurched when the log got snagged so I shut it down. You can't see it down the hill, but there is a thousand pound log attached to that rope. Also down the hill is a block and tackle reduction and s-natch block. I'll get the bugs worked out and repost some progress next week.

4 pointsNot too far of a stretch.... the next gen of Toro/Wheel Horse models (260 series and XI series) had a lot of twins painted blue and black and sold as New Holland. It would have gone to one of those originally. Look familiar?
-
4 pointsRain rain go away........ want to unload the 18 today. From a quick look and see. The drive belt may be too short. That shouldn't make it POP out of gear as the PO said. Didn't happen when I picked it up.... but for sure the idler pully kept a fair bit of tension when clutched. Find em don't grind em is an understatement. The blower is a Newholland???? Modified to fit right up tight. Has a lift bar and flag Made to order. Even the hub caps are in fair shape. This is definitely a sweet deal.

3 pointsAdding workshop to back of garage. Moving dirt from digging footers for stem walls. Also putting carport(corral) for horse parking. Retiring from Fire dept. in about 6 months and need some space to "create". Working around daily thunderstorms and It's only 1000 degrees with 400% humidity here so going slow!

3 pointsMy friend Rodney Burger just bought two pair of Carlisle 6/12 Farm Specialist rear tires for his Wheel Horses. First time I ever saw these. Sold on Ebay!
-
3 pointsOK it's been a couple of days since I brought this ole beast Home and I've been biting fingernails that it would start. Got home today new parts in the mail put them on. Points condenser and plug . Turn the key and Pa Pow! Started right up and sounds awesome! I got it to idle and rev and not a bit of white smoke out of the exhaust! Now to put the tires on it and check out the trans. Hopefully it is OK. I have heard someone say here on red square by using diesel fuel and running through the gears will help clean it out. Any ideas ?
-
3 pointsStill waiting on word back on the charger 12....... Then this popped up. Just couldn't pass it by sooooooo. I pick it up tonite. Comes with a snow blower. Tranny pops out of gear. That's fine with me. I've rebuilt two 8 speeds an a 3 speed. Think I'm getting the hang of them. And yes my wife still loves me. She's even coming for the ride

3 points953 nails it --- will be well worth your time to toodle off to HF and get their set of splitters. They are just plain handy around the shop anyway -- and honestly, I would think you wont be able to get the wheel off without this. That wheel can really get stuck! Put the flat sides of the splitter under the wheel and get it as close to the shaft as you can. Protect your threads on the shaft, I run the nut up on the threads rill it is just even with the top. Put a good bit of pressure on it puller and occasionally 'whap' the top of the big screw with a hammer, this will give a 'jar' to the splines and help it break loose.
-
3 pointsDo not use a two or three jaw puller on the steering wheel. A bearing splitter should do the trick, run the nut to the top of the shaft and use a scrap piece of steal to spread the load.. If it is hard to pull you may want to warm the shaft up with a torch and apply some pariffin wax then let it cool. The heat will break up the rust and the wax will help lubricate it.

3 points@ebinmaine pointed me to these sold by Wally World. They are Carlisle Tru Power and look almost exactly like the Farm Specialist and a GREAT price to boot!

2 pointsTaking a “bathroom break” for a couple days, on account of good behavior I suppose. My German kid Jil is in town for 3 weeks and she hasn’t been on the buggy for a couple years, since the suspension and Subaru upgrades. Well, I thought I had a couple cracks to take care of, ends up after I took the side panels off and started looking around, I don’t know how the front end hasn’t broken off the car! Doing a bunch of repairs this week, along with reinforcement to transfer power and suspension shock through the chassis a little better. After all, the car was built for about 40 horsepower, now there’s about 165 ponies out back. Everywhere that has green tape, along with some other prepped areas, need repairs. We are also prepping for the replacement front seats, going from fiberglass molded seats to suspension seats and 5 point harnesses. It’s good to have help in the shop this week!

2 pointsSome where in my garage is a set of those extinct Firestone 23 degree 23 x 8.50 - 12 tires that have never been mounted and one Carlisle 6 x 12 AG tire marked WHEEL HORSE that is N.O.S. , these were made in the mid to late 60's . Any body have another one that they might want to sell ? Carlisle has made many of the tires for Wheel Horse but it is interesting to note that you could get a tractor from Wheel Horse with rims made by Firestone that had Goodyear tires mounted on them ! Wild Bill in Richmond, VA

2 pointsEngine installed today. Intake torqued down and muffler installed. PTO all hooked up. New vacuum line installed. Cables hooked up. Governor linkage hooked up. Belt installed. Fuel line to pump installed. 9 pin connected (all new and sealed). Battery cables installed (might install new ends at battery side). New condenser installed. Oil has been drained and new filter installed, no oil yet. New 'O' ring on dipstick as original was deformed and I could hear it hiss when engine was rolled over by hand.

2 pointsYeah, we bought the place a year ago from my in laws. He builds race cars, so the shop is wired for machines and welders, heated, cooled nd a lift!
-
2 pointsThanks Josh. 👍 I have an image of the finished tractor in my mind. Wishing for some nice weather. Rained every day last week. Little bit of housework, little bit of tractor work

2 pointsI lost my dad on May 16th of this year. He came every year and rode one of my tractors in our local parade. He is greatly missed. I did this 149 Cub Cadet as a tribute to him. Rest in peace dad.

2 pointsRight?! Found my first crack over by the edge while doing the floor coating.I just don't know if it was there before the diamond grinding or after. I'm glad I added them too... although it is making it more challenging to arrange the wall shelving to keep good access to them. I'll post up a couple pictures after I get some shelving redone and moved around. I'm a firm believer in teaching my girls life skills like this... (painting, landscaping, etc...), and my wife is totally supportive as well. Sadly... yes, that's pretty close. Thanks Steve, I like to think so. Lots of time and thought is going into making it "just right"

2 pointsI have a set of those Farm Specialists to put on a Panzer. They were priced right and I love the aggressive tread!

2 pointsLiving in the Midwest until 9 years ago, I preferred shopping at Menards over the other two High Rack stores. Their tandem pups making store deliveries were always visible on the road. I got all excited on this past Sunday when I spotted a Menards semi rolling Northbound on I-81 in Winchester, VA. Just checked the store locator and my nearest store is still Lancaster, OH - a short 231 miles away! Oh well. I will give Lowes huge kudos for their Military discount! Saved a ton of money this past year with the old and new house.

2 pointsOredered 2 sticks each of dom tubing yesterday through my father in law’s work, 1-1/2 .080 wall and 1-1/4 .065 wall. That should help get this thing a little more rigid!
-
2 pointsI know Richie says pics or it didn’t happen, but he’s gonna hafta take my word... that I peed in my urinal the other day! Takes a scoop of water from a bucket to flush, but that’ll change when the buggy is out of the shop
-
2 pointsPullstart is correct. I fitted narrow tyres to my C-121. There is a thread on how I did it. Wheel Mod. Febuary 17th. 2017.
-
2 pointsThat's because they're front tires for 4x4 subcompact tractors. You can get them anywhere that sells farm tires.
-
2 pointsIf you need to remove the steering wheel then you will have to remove the roll pin as Cleat stated,Keep in mind that the steering shaft is located by thin metal and any heavy hammering can cause serious damage.I have had more than one that in order to get the roll pin out I had to take the upper hood stand off and remove the steering shaft.Take the assembly to a solid surface, support the shaft and use a BFH to get the pin out.If you are doing a full resto then it may be worth the effort but if you want to use the machine then you may want to think about opening up a can of worms for things you really don't need.A tach on a governed engine tells you what? I honesty believe the gauges WH mounted on the 520 were to add to curb appeal.
-
2 pointsI put a pair of those on Skonk. Bought them down the street at my tire store.

2 pointsOn some reproductions, sunlight can soften and you get occasional twist. I would Fab an aluminum plate and contact cement the reproduction plate to it, making a laminate prior to install. It will hold up and stay more pristine looking. the llink Ztnoo copies does work well. But the white paint will wear easily in my experience...as such, either baby it once done or be prepared to touch up occasionally. Of of course that’s my feedback. Others may have different feedback and your mileage may vary.
