11 pointsBeen a bit slow with some of my projects as of late, we have a lot of general maintenance to do around our property. Also the garden needs some tlc too after the previous owner in her 90's gave up. Here's some good old fashioned 'yorkshire' dry stone walling, done as part of the work to hold up the lane where the water is starting to wash it away. When it rains in the North of England it rains! Hopefully back onto wheel horse projects for the rest of summer what it looked like as we started to shore it up another dry day and the arch going in another reminder of why it gets washed away (this is the entrance) making top stones from other corner stones - wonder how long the new stone will take to get that 200 year old patina finished!

8 pointsPicked this not so pretty up today it was a last min decision it claimed to have a froze up steering wheel and the odvious wrong motor but went and looked because it was a good price i got it home streeing wheel was unfroze in mins. The tie rod is broke and the steering shalf was pinched on the bottom alittle love and a new k90 and it should be back going
-
8 pointsOk.... not a mirror shot but best I can do. This will be my wife’s 953! Believe it or not, 98% of it is there.👍
-
7 pointsTheres the genny score i got also yesterday k90 with intentions of putting the motor on the rj anyone notice what muffler is on that genny
-
7 pointsExactly Tom ...he had a nother score of a old genny with a 91 on it that he wants to use on this RJ but I ain't gonna let him butcher up the nice genny for the motor so he gets the 91 I got. Unless I get them mixed up and he gets yours??? Good info on the RJ, get a pic of the casting numbers if any Ryan. that might just narrow it down. His 30 clam genny score!! Note the muff... Is that your wife looking in wondering what you dragged home now??
-
7 pointsEARly 1958's did not have casting numbers on the three piece transmissions. I always thought some of those without casting numbers were taken by Mr. Pond to feedstores, motor shops and other places to establish new dealerships! Pond would give an RJ to establish a new dealership. He would drive it himself often in a pickup truck.

7 pointsToday, my mom found found an old photo of my dad's brand new 1962 Wheel Horse. I was six years old and my sister was five. My dad sold it to a neighbor sometime in the 1980's. My uncle found it in 2011 and returned it to me. It was in really bad shape when I got it back... Took me over three years to completely restore. I am so proud to own this tractor again and have the opportunity to ride it again at tractor shows.

6 pointsThe RJ used a sediment bowl assembly, part #1786. This is a common item and is still available under various manufacturers part numbers. I used the Briggs & Stratton 690612 on my 701. Unless you are trying to keep the RJ totally original, for $12.00 it's a lot simpler to replace the whole bowl assembly than find the correct cork gasket.

6 pointsRode the Bremerton to Seattle ferry today in my brand new WHCC shirt. It was windy and cold!! You should be able to see the space needle in the background

5 points(EDIT : Found out it’s a 1054 )I had seen an ad on facebook for a 953 project about 3 hours south of me the week before the big show. Didn’t have the extra cash. Well this weekend I messaged him and he gave me a reduced price I couldn’t pass up. Started digging through the shed to find things to sell. A couple hours later and I had some extra cash. Made arrangements and went and picked up my wife’s “new tractor” She took a liking to them at the show. Only thing is..... she wants a hydro. The gears are turning. It has no hydraulic pump, hood,seat/frame, missing some linkage. I have another eaton 1100 and the axles to widen it as I did with my gt14 and a ton of spare gt14 control linkage parts. We’ll see where this goes but I cannot promise it will not get butchered.
-
5 pointsThis evening I spent an hour or two trying to clean the fins out on the engine and scrape down the block a bit. Trina spent about the same amount of time or even a little more finishing up wire brushing both rear wheels. Then we put a coat of primer on them.
-
5 pointsYou can be a wheel horse fanboy all you want, but the answer to mow 10 acres will never be a Wheel Horse. Unless you're retired and that's all you want to do.
-
5 points10 acres! Neither. Sounds like you need a good quality zero-turn. A 520H no matter the deck size is only going to be able to go 4ish miles per hour, you’ll be mowing foooorevvvver!
-
5 pointsRichie—looks like you picked up a new wrangling technique from Kevin @pullstart

5 pointsI’m imagineering a way to haul more next year. Option one: power tools and more time dedicated to mafia style stripping. Option two: cargo rack. Picture those automaker’s vehicle haulers but for wheel horse exclusively... Option three: break down and look into a trailer (BORING)
-
4 pointsIf's ya' install a hydro ........ DON'T THROW THAT 953'S OLD TRANSMISSION OUT !!!. The 1963 Wheel Horse Model 953 used the UNDRIVE that has "spider type" (automotive) differential gears and are very hard to come by. (Notice I do not use the word "RARE" but in this case yup those gears are RARE) Wild Bill in Richmond VA

4 pointsSome father/son time in the corral this afternoon... This first picture would be a great “caption this” shot! Hoping to get these two tractors ready for the 4th of July parade... The Super C needed some Hydro linkage cleaning and adjustment and a good waxing. I honestly wish it looked this good in person but at least it photographs well Caleb’s hubs are a little worn and the keys are shot. Trying to at least get it functional for Wednesday. We will need to order new axle seals and probably get a set of hubs. However, Caleb will post pics in his thread and gather opinions there...I love working with this guy!
-
4 pointsWhile it was entertaining, I'm glad nothing came off on the trip back. Could have been dangerous for someone traveling behind. The fact nothing did come of is a testament to how you secured everything.
-
4 pointsActually @PeacemakerJack it was already apart. But I did watch him work and know his technique well

4 pointsKeep that generator as is and it will be worth more than on an RJ! My old 4 HP Kohler generator I have since sold.
-
4 pointsYou guys got it all wrong. It doesn’t matter what you drive as long as it has a hitch. That way you can pull that trailer full of wheel horse goodness around and show everyone what a real tractor looks like. Unless you are @pullstart kevin....... then you just tear them apart and get as many as you can in the back (which is awesomeness on it’s own).

3 pointsDon’t hold your breath guys. Got another bathroom to do, rebuild the well pump shed, crown moulding in 3 rooms and a hallway. Thats just what I can remember. But I will slip out to the shed when she ain’t looking. 😎
-
3 pointsI wish I could help you Tom, but I have not had the opportunity to mess with any of the Eaton transmissions. Maybe do a video of a tear down and re-build.

3 pointsHowie, I don't know you personally, but you are a part of the Wheel Horse family, so your loss is shared by many. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
-
3 pointsWell they are pretty much the same exact tractor and 1959s even used a RJ-58 ID tag. The last number in the casting on the trans casing should give you the year it was cast. the number should be on top near the shifter hole. Early 58s did not have any casting numbers. For informational purposes only, not tractor bashing Belt guard isn't original which is the big ticket item on those and the most common missing piece. Looks like the heat shield was cut shorter too but...Heat shields weren't original to the early 58 anyway. The fenders and toolbox also became options later on. Highly doubt those front rims are original but they don't have holes for weights and could've been repaired.(most are rotted away by the calcium) If they don't use spacers to fit the spindles then that's as close as you can get and a sought after item.
-
3 pointsWell being close to a hundred degrees the last couple days I spent that time in the barn with the a/C on working on the tractors. I started putting on things I got at the Big Show . Took the tall chute blower apart and ordered bearings and the idler sprockets it needs. Put new deck wheels on the 42 inch RD deck I bought. I'd like to find the double D blades it needs at some time too. Started cleaning up the rims on the Commandos they're looking kinda rusty. I know I can find lots to do out in barn in order to beat the heat. My job building houses has me outside year round so any opportunity to be this heat, I'm all over it.

2 pointsI would go with the 520 and a 60 incher although a 60 is a beast and have been known to rip 520 frames. I was going to suggest that too @Sparky but I'm tryin to keep the guy in Red! You could always get a Toro Z and put decals on it!
-
2 points@WHX20 yeah my wife was looking at the stuff i brought home i dont know how she felt about it. i never knew generators were or are going to be worth anything it is really neat piece thats for sure
-
2 pointsThat is one of the legendary Cubs of all time! Looks like an interesting “race” though. Seems more like they were drafting you rather than following!
-
2 pointsThat was actually one of the highlights of the show for me. I’m easily entertained.
-
2 pointsYa I got lucky on this one. I have been looking at them for awhile. But when they pop up for sale they were usually more then what I was willing to spend myself. Then I kinda just stumbled upon this one and believe it or not I only paid $60 for it. I figures for that price I can't go wrong, even if I got to do some work to it.

2 pointsA set of AG’s, some weights, an 8” Brinly, and you are ready for some night plowing!
-
2 pointsI always look forward to your show coverage, so much cool stuff that we don't see on this side of the pond.
