I’m happy to say I’m the new proud owner of this fine C-195. Hour meter shows 208, but it’s not working. However, the owner said it probably not far off, as he only used it for about 2 seasons after buying it from original owner and then he retired it. He was nice enough to get running and even put a new battery in it. The tires are in great shape, and as you can see from the pics, wheel weights all around. 3pt hitch and Rear PTO!! No belt on the rear PTO, but i did find a diagram for routing it in the files section. Could use a seat, but boy does it purr like a kitten. I’ve never seen one of these before in NC, so I had to bring it home with me.

Hi All, I just picked up a 312-8 with 42" RD deck, plow and cart. I'm giving it a tune up with plugs, belts, filters and fluids. Going to add some LED lights to replace the old ones - should be nice in fall and winter! I also ordered the smaller drive pulley and belt to pick up the pace if needed. I never used the low range on any of the WH's before so am interested to try this out. We have a big Husqvarna zero turn which is our primary mower, but I grew up running WH's and wanted to get another mower for when my wife and I mow at the same time. The cart and plow will come in handy too! I regret getting a geared tractor over a hydro, but I feel like I got a good deal on the package. Maybe I will keep my eyes out for a hydro model for the future but for now the eight speed will do. The real reason I got it was because my little boy loves tractors and it is extremely difficult to take him for a ride on a zero turn since I need both hands to drive. We've already been on a few rides on the 312 and it was a hit!! Seems to be great information on this site so I figured I'd join. I wouldn't consider myself a real enthusiast but I have at least a few hundred hours on 3xx and 4xx series WHs and really appreciate their quality.

I have a spare tire on my trailer but don’t know if I want a rainbow cover on it 😂

WoW, thanks oliver2-44. I just checked out that section and file. Some good stuff there. I am chomping at the bit to get the tractor home now. Had to go over to my sons house and unload my trailer so I can use it to get the WH home. Alos went ahead and became a supporter. This is a great site. Doug

Morning all, well Project Wheel-Vo has taken a big step forward this week as the new running gear has been found... You might say it's been safely kept in this big metal box A "can't quite get he's head around my thinking" Nigel gives the Volvo 940 2.3 SE Turbo a That's quite a big 4 pot! A Volvo B230FK if your into engine numbers. Here's the important bit... The turbo Size wise a manual gearbox would be smaller, but an auto does make life easier... Also I kinda like the idea of being able to keep both hands on the steering wheel during launch as well I dug out the WH 312-8 bonnet/hood to have a look size wise...... This pic makes me look totally nuts for even thinking of this project! However, lift the bonnet/hood up and plonk the said WH item on and suddenly the engine does not look that big.. A certain amount of errr... "Scaling up" is going to be needed on the WH panels but not as much as I had 1st thought as the actual auto box isn't as long as I had 1st thought. Of course I have to fit a radiator and intercooler under the hood as well. I will be using the Volvo rear axle, they are known to be strong and (quite handy for me) easy to narrow As of yesterday here's where I have got to.. Just need to disconnect the shifter linkage, speedo cable (I think the speedo is driven from the 'box), unplug any electrical bits, unbolt the propshaft, unbolt the 'box crossmember and then the engine and trans can be removed as one.. Glad I have the use of a forklift And of course

Hi just joined...(not going to be a very active member) but wanted to say that I bought a new 420LSE in 1986 and I still have it... I used it yesterday it has done 1000 hours and I still love it one of the best purchases I ever made I live in UK just outside London and when my wife and I went to a big flower show at Hampton Court Palace a few years back the bloke on the Toro/Wheelhorse stand saw me looking at their new models he asked if I might be interested in a Toro I said 'no thanks I have an old Wheelhorse' he asked which model I said '420LSE' ah you are Mr H !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my wife and I were both staggered but it sounds like mine was the only one ever sold in UK not easy now to get it serviced as my old Wheelhorse expert in UK seems to have closed his business that's it for now all the best

Hi to one and all. Just signed on here at 1:20 AM. I know but back was hurting and could not sleep. To much yard work I guess. Any who I got me a horse today. Its a C101 with a mow deck. When I get it home Saturday Ill know more about it. Here is the deal, I will intro myself and post photos along with the story of how I found this diamond and for a week and a half could not get it off my mind but for now I have a question because I need to put this thing to work. What type for sleeve hitch or clevis hitch does the C101 take are they still made by anyone? If not are there some good photos on line that I could use to make one? I have the equipment and skills to do this. All for now I am sure there will be more and thanks in advance. Doug

If I make the show we can hook a couple wagons up behind my trackchair . I’ll pull you guys around...you know the paralyzed guy leading the blind . I know this is serious stuff we’re talking about and can’t imagine not being able to see but from my experience some laughs always helps me get through the day even if it’s at my own expense .

Sweet tractors. Love the speedex with the attachments. I redid a speedex S18 that I found in my in-law's corn crib but I don't have any attachments for it other that a mower deck. I'd love to find a plow and some wheel weights. Mike

to the IMO, the C series were the best Wheel Horse tractors made. Although I am not a fan of the rocker plate engine mount on the C-xx1. You are correct, in addition to the standard drawbar hitch, there is a cast steel sleeve hitch that takes a 3/8" X 3" flat bar and a Brinley style fabricated steel clevis hitch. I have sleeve hitches, but not the clevis hitch. Someone will probably be able to get a pic and dimensions for the clevis hitch. As stated above, new clevis hitches are available from a vendor on this site. My C-101 that I sold yesterday.... reducing the herd.

It’s finally operational. I still need to wrestle some of the hydraulic lines into a more organized fashion but everything works. Since the PF Engineering plans are for a Cub several things needed to be modified. I have put on few notes/comments below that I hope might help others. I will go in to more detail on my notes if someone asks. I will also post some more pics after I tidy things up a bit more. 1. The subframe needs to be built for a WH. The Cub attaches completely differently. I attached at six locations to spread the load. 2. The pump mount mounts on the side for WH instead of in front for the Cub. 3. If I did another I would extend the lift arms about 4”. My bucket was too close to the front tires. I added spacers to my mounting points to get clearance so I didn’t have to modify my subframe. You could also move the towers forward on the subframe but I would rather keep the weight as far back on the tractor as possible. 4. To make my plumbing clear my lift arms and my cylinders I had to reverse my lift cylinders. This makes it a little tricky to fasten the hydraulic lines for the lift cylinders since there is so much movement when extending and retracting. In hind sight I would probably lower my suction/filter line to gain clearance for the cylinder but I like having the filter high and tight like it is now. 5. I don’t like that the design uses all hoses instead of hard lines on the arms. It’s not a very clean look. I may change that some day. 6. Finally, if you can find one it would be much cheaper to buy a used loader and refurbish it and build a subframe if needed. I had a lot of the steel but it was still expensive by the time I bought the pump, lines, fittings, control unit, etc. I’m no expert by any means but I’ve learned a lot. If I can help in any way, let me know.

to the Andy. Should be a lot of WH bargains in your area. And you are close to A to Z tractor sales in Malvern where you can find reasonable used tractors , parts, and implements. Oh here is the grass collector for the RD deck.

@Stigian I love the idea , while you are working on the build , the wagon will provide storage for the various bits and pieces and sheet metal to work with . In case you don't know a redneck / hillbilly is a compliment . Have a great day and start drawing up your plans. Can't wait to see you ideas for the frame. Cheers

Thanks for all the welcomes and thank you 953 nut for the downloads. I will bet they will come in handy. Ed that is a darn good looking C101. I doubt mine will ever look that good but one never knows. I have restored a few cars and trucks in my days so I might just take on this tractor but first have to make sure it is running proper and put it to use. Doug

I just noticed that I passed the 11,000 post mark. I don't usually hold much stock in post count, but I am also pushing 10 years on Red Square. The ten year thing makes me proud to be a part of this great family on this excellent site. I just want to thank you all for making me feel so welcome and a big part of this community. When I think back on things, the "Steve on a Stick" at last years show was the height of all this site has to offer for me. All you guys made me feel like I was there. That was very special.to me. We all do so many special things on this site...the top one is all the selfless help everyone gives so freely, and the other one is how we treat people like how we all want to be treated. I just wanted to say Thank You for letting me be a part of it.

Definitely glad I did this! Here's the next phase of the project, completed. Some point in the next few weeks I will pick up a winch and make it so that it dumps by cable lift power instead of me lift power. I extended the tongue by bolting a piece of thin wall 2in Square stock tubing that is about 25 or 30 inches longer than the existing tongue. I chose that length for three reasons. One is to put a little bit more weight on the trailer where it should be. Another is... based on experience with the log trailer that I built last year, I just happen to like this wheelbase for some reason. It's easier for me to comprehend backing it up. And also, the extra couple feet of square stock tubing between the existing trailer and the coupler will give me plenty of space to work out where I need to mount the winch and vertical support. I guess we're about due for some scraping and painting now.

@Skipper Tom, you were one of the guys that came into Red Square that Racin'Bob and I took a chance on. We were not wrong in taking that chance...Thank You for that. It was a pleasure seeing and meeting your family. I hope we get to do that again if you come over for a 2nd load of horses. We need to spend more time if the opportunity presents itself. We should do at least dinner. Turning you on to members in this community was my pleasure. I know how hard it was to line things up and make dates. You had some good guys like Tom from Janesville that stepped up and helped. Can I mention Smokin'Joe?? Excellent people. And my Dad is looking down seeing one of his Wheel Horses in the Netherlands...how cool is that. Thanks Tom !!

We can lead each other around at the show Howard. I found out I have to have surgery on both eyes a couple weeks ago. The game plan was to have a preliminary visit and then the surgery after that. I made it clear to them that the preliminary could be done in June but the surgery will have to wait until July. I'm happy to hear that you will be making the show. The Mash pole wouldn't be the same without you. You need to take care of yourself and if that means slowing down, taking a nap or whatever you need I'm betting the guys here will back off on the good natured harassment and fully understand. You might want to post what you're bringing. I know I'm hoping a new (to me) tractor comes back to South Bend with me and I'd guess that I'm not the only one.

I decided to go ahead and open up a space under the deck, began the retaining wall and should finish up with gravel. The amount of room for parking is perfect for the 18 auto.......These blocks do a number on one's biceps after a couple of days! Lol.

I was advised to avoid DC at all costs and I wanted to minimize driving time in Maryland so I took 95 to 26 towards Columbia, then 77 to 81 into Chambersburg. There was very little time and distance difference and the scenery was great.

The swisher are great to mow with and very simple engineering, but ONLY like flat and dry grass or you will be spinning that front tire like crazy! This is one I redone last winter.

Little more done today. Finished the seat adjuster bracket and bolted it down. Also made a plate for the front of my belt guard. Had to cut of the front nose of the mounting tab to clear the block. Plug welded the plate to the front of the guard and notched it to slide under the battery tray where it will be held down. Came out ok.

i hope they uploaded properly. I just lucked into a log arch with flat tires for $60. I threw a couple cheapie harbor freight tires on to get it rolling. I need to get better tires for it, but I'll be dragging cedar logs out of my "back 40" to hopefully cut up on the sawmill I still haven't set up. Edited to add- Also, I think with heavier tires, I may be able to use this as a "wrecker" to get my hydro tractors out of the weeds that grew around them when I had my mental freakout and stopped all things fun.

Hey Jim, everyone knows what Chris's head looks like, so I thought I'd show his feet instead I will take a few photo's of the complete Volvo before I pull it apart, expect lot's of videos as well Thanks Richard, I do try and keep my build threads entertaining, though I do admit to being a bit slack of late.. Just not enough hours in the day! It will be I can't wait to get started on this one Ed Hey Ed, I think I must of been dropped on my head too many times as a kid.. All the best nutters blame it on thier parents Updates as something happens JC, it's only the lack of Volvo that's keeping me from doing any more at the mo, though I do have a lead on a complete car, I just need to get it for the right price first.. Hey Pullstart, there will be plenty of video's from start to finish of the build as always Ed asked where I come up with my ideas, well I think this one must of been inspired by a couple of videos that popped up on internet 5 years ago.. Here's the Turbo Terror Tractor as you have seen else where, this is the original video. The other inspirational video is this Volvo 740 turbo seariously smoking some tires/tyres
