Mowed a little with the 857 today and got Emory's 754 running. He went on his first ride and had a blast!

Spent the morning visiting a local show. Didn't take any because of obligations this afternoon. After three weeks of rain every day we finally had some great weather and had a fairly good turnout. The only Wheel Horse on the grounds was a modifies 400 Suburban with Predator Power. There was no admission fee charged, just donations. This nice Oliver Garden Tractor was on the move most of the day giving kids rides, There was also a wagon train for the kids. Also had some tractor pulling, but no garden tractor pulls. A Ford V8 in a Ford tractor is not too unusual. But an International V8 in an IH is not something you see every day. Enjoy the show.

Actually, two. New at this , but these make 10. PO said first one is a 1963 654 and the second one is a 1966 1056. How should I list them in my will? Thanks.

Loaded up my 1056... for a short road trip to the CT meet&greet today.

Still checking things off the list. Got almost all my wiring done, lights working and starting to button up all the sheet metal. Big difference color wise with the LED vs the halogens. Too bright to get a good picture but they work!

The kids had great time at the Yorkanna Gun Club's annual fishing derby. Hard to believe I had my two sons here 50 years ago. My four Grandsons are even too old to attend. I need some Great Grandsons.

Finished doing the flush on the transmission on the b80 4 Speed. Two flushes of diesel at two quarts a piece and I ran out of diesel. Second one looks pretty good anyway. Also changed out the fluid charcoal that was trying to pass for oil that was in this engine.

Changed gear oil in transmission for the 702 Wheel Horse yesterday which I will be taking as one of three tractors to the Big Wheel Horse Collector's Show in Pennsylvania. Also taking my 854 and my RJ that I redid two years ago. Got the RJ all ready to go yesterday. Used the 701 Wheel Horse with my 9 tine cultivator (mix of Danish and Wheel Horse shovel tines) on the garden this am . Worded fantastic and the half inch rain we had last night made the work pretty easy. Video of the tractor working one of the last rows! 053.MOV

This one has been on now for a good while and I use it a good bit - its my yard trailer puller - and havent noticed any hint of discoloring.

I sorted out the wiring, put air in the tires and took the plunge... the c111 bravely battled the yard and won(mostly) I will be finishing it tomorrow. I am learning the quirks such as it likes to pop out of high range, it doesn't charge, the clutch spring is week(I have a new one), and a few others but I am happy with it. I am fond of my 655 but there is a different feel to the c111. With the 655 you do(work) and marvel that it does, and with the c111 it just does.

If it is the bolt between the head and the neck...it is a head bolt and requires the biggest torque wrench in the tool box. The one with foot pounds.

No snowblower but it has the 48 inch snow blade which has not been mounted, I think I'm missing a rear mounting bracket for the blade.. I did everything that everyone suggested above except Changing the fuel lines, filled it up with Regular gas with a Touch of seafoam and after 20 seconds of turning over it Fired Right up!! SUCCESS! I had about 10 seconds of smoke but I think that was just dust in the exhaust burning out?? It's running like a 20hp Sewing Machine.. Wow, This runs like no other tractor I've owned.. It has a different feel and sound.. Thanks everyone!!

Met up with Vinnie @VinsRJ today...came home with a sweet pair of WH wheel weights and a pair of brand new never mounted ag’s. Now to decide which of my undeserving tractors gets em! Right now my Commando 8 is in the lead .

I'm as bad as the next guy for typos, but the image this one conjured up made me chuckle 🦀

Smart money buys snow blowers in the spring and mowers in the winter.

I picked up this trailer last fall from the side of the road. Didn't pay much for it and that was a good thing. Solid as a rock but it needed two tires and did not have a tailgate and the paint on it is disgusting brushed on garbage. During the modification the poor painting will be removed and the entire cart will end up orange at some point. The biggest thing that I don't like about most yard and garden type dumping trailers is that to make it so it will dump with ease, the axle is centered. That's perfectly fine if you live on flat ground. We. Do. Not. Multiple times we have put several hundred pounds in this trailer. Maybe even over a thousand pounds a few times. When going up anything but the most shallow of hills it actually pulls UP on the tractor hitch. So I decided to move the axle to the back of the box which puts far far more weight on the tongue of the tractor hitch. I'm going to be extending the length of the tongue with 2 inch square stock so I can get my turning radius back. I'm also going to make a vertical 2 inch square tube that pivots at the bottom and has a wheel at the top and attaches to The Dumping cart via a cable and a winch. When that part is done I'll take more pics. I don't have the winch yet. Here's the beginnings of the project. Before: As it sits now with the axle moved back but without the 2 inch square extension beam. This picture shows the bottom of the cart and a previous owners nasty paint job but also how far back I moved the axle assembly. Approximately 12 or 13 in.

Just wanted to share this with the crowd here. I know there's a lot of you out there that prefer these for removing light rust and paint from metal or even other surfaces. This is a 5 pack and they work out to $6 each. Free freight. Lots of reviews online say they are the cat's meow of these strip discs. I'll share my findings with you.

Saw an ad for a cheap very rough commando 8, I guess a 1968 model, after getting the pics I saw it was complete and sitting for 25 years but not at all a resto candidate. was on my home from work stopped and it was rough, I did sorta buy it, I paid him the 50 bucks and just grabbed whatever I could pull that was worth saving, got a complete k181s, turns over! 36" mower deck, good front rims, belt guard and hood. the rest sadly he will send to the crusher but at least some of it got saved.

Ol' Case de ElCamino is going to have to find his tool box to see if he has the "Proper Tool(s) to torque my "head bolts" And here they are: You will need the tamper proof bit on the left and this left handed Metric torque wrench! No substitutes allowed as they will void all warranties!

@stevasaurus Don't over torque the nuts , may bust the aluminum side plates that holds Skonky's ears.

I use my oweners book as a pillow and use the tractor for every task known to mankind.

Me and my wife will most likely be there. Not sure what time we will arrive at the hotel.

Once you get hooked, you my find yourself having to lay next to one all night sometimes, and not voluntarily.

answer , what is your snow like? if its dry and fluffy, tall chute is the way to go, if its wet snow , stay with the short chute. I also have a mid length chute, that I picked up , home made, that works quite well, about " 6 longer. whenever you use it , pay attention to what works / doesn't work. that will get you spot on .Pete

Well, if you have an RJ or Suburban that needs a Clinton 1200 series motor, this is your final chance to reserve a beautifully rebuilt motor! I'll be going to college in mid-August so I will not have a chance to do any more for a while. Most rebuilds consist of: Sandblasted block/sheetmetal New crankshaft New valves New piston/rings New Connecting rod New Crank bearings New Gaskets Rebuilt ignition Rebuilt carburetor New Air cleaner New Starter Resurfaced tappets Mildly Ported Block bored Valve guides reamed oversize and new seats cut Kill Switch wire installed New spark plug wire It takes me on average 20-25 hours of my time to redo one of these motors and $100 worth of machine work to bring the block back to specs. They run like new, look better than new and will be a great addition to any vintage Wheel-Horse! Cost of a rebuild is $475-$550 and I will buy an old engine core for $50-$75. I have done over a dozen of these engines to this quality of work and you will not find a better rebuild anywhere! I own an RJ58 with one of my rebuilt engines and it has been in use since 2005 (2 of those years mowing a half acre every week) and it runs just like it did on day 1. I ONLY HAVE THREE ENGINES AVAILABLE!!!!! I can ship anywhere in the USA on your dime. There are flat needle bearings under the spindle gear. There are a cylindrical style needle bearings on the lower spindle shaft. There are roller bearings on the cross shaft. Have you taken it apart yet? The gears may be shot along with excessive spindle shaft wear. Also when the cross shaft bearings start to go the can wear down the bearing supports along with the shaft. I would get it apart before the show to see how bad everything is or maybe look for another deck.

Well, I had a little more time to play with the Techumseh on my Lawn Ranger today Paul. I had put a new Chinese carb on it when I first got it. I decided to see what it would do to adjust the fuel just a little. I turned out the low idle a little bit and adjusted the high idle out just a hair and now she purrs like a kitten - no surging at all! Always started easy, even more so now!! Couldn't find a tag, but I think she's a HH60.

Just when I thought I was down to a workable number of three (should really be two!) Wheel Horses, along comes a really nice '94 314-8 from another RS member. Finally had a chance today with no rain to drive down and pick it up. The first tractor I have bought in Virginia - that is staying in Virginia!
