I picked this one up late last fall so I never was able to try the mower deck. Today I did. Mowed really well.

Well I just added a new seat to my collection. I wanted to try something new just to see how it would look . Not bad but I don't know if i really like it or not. A lot of work trying to sew pleats And letters. I really like the diamond design and may do one something like my first experiment As In The Last Picture but use a 1/2 sew foam to make them stand out.. But what do you guys think ???

I worked on some RJ three piece transmission parts today. Two drive pulley side panels. I removed old bearings and brass bushing on one plate that had a really bad axle tube brass bushing. I also painted some hubs off of an RJ tractor.

This is my 70' Commando V8 (VH-80 cast iron block Tecumseh 8 h.p.) This is the old girl that introduced me to the Wheel Horse family over 25 years ago. I know she's probably the less desired tractors of Horse collectors (her crankshaft runs in the wrong direction....... Vertical) she's still used to mow grass, mom nicknamed her "ole Bessy" some years ago before she passed away in 2011, mom mowed a lot with her also, I guess Bessy introduced mom to the Wheel Horse family also.

Mixing Oil Brands, You're real rebel Sparky!

Love the answers and so true. I'd flush that tranny and add fresh of whatever brand(s), run it for a few mowings and change it again and then as long at it's stored inside you'll be good for years.

Are these Wheel Horse Cultivators ? The top one looks like a mid mount unit and bottom looks like a sleeve hitch . Any idea on the value ? Thanks in advance

Cleaned up my new 312-8 some and mowed the yard for the first time with it. I still need to do more detailing and decided not to use the bagger this time. I'm not a big bagger guy anyway. I also had to mow a little with the lawn ranger - can't let her get jealous😁.

If you are closing the choke at all you are reducing the air flow and an internal combustion engine is essentially an air pump. Reduced air flow results in reduced power. There is fuel starvation and a good soaking and blowing out all passages should do the trick.

Yes they are the wheel Horse cultivators that fit C series style tractors. Marv

Update #2 today: So, I did a little more Googling and happened to read this thread: I took a chance and said "WTH..." and tried the old gas cap from my flawless running 416H. Do you know this 520H ran almost flawlessly this time around? I mowed the front with it, which takes an hour or so to do. It stayed right at 3500RPM, right under it actually. At one point, it did surge ever so slightly. So I throttled down, took off the gas cap, then put back on, not as tight. Ran great still. Now keep in mind, this is just a cap, that even has a small crack in it, no fuel level gauge like the fancier ones. Unless you guys think there's something else wrong, I'm pretty satisfied with how it did.

I just changed the throttle cable and need to tinker a little more to get the rpm I need. The engine does not seem to rev like it should on the top end. Seems to labor a bit. Any suggestions? I need to check the governor and get the throttle adjusted to wot and then go from there. I mowed at about 2500 rpm

First mow of the season - the C-125 ran flawlessly and faithfully, the front turf tires picked up every package the neighborhood dogs have left. Some people use scoops. I don't have the need. 42" RD working fine but, wow, the noise! TIme to break-out the range headgear.

Holy, engine must sound like a jet at that RPM. I have never seen mine go that fast.

I too have used the old KT series 1 on my C-175 and love it. My property is not flat at all and she keeps doing the job. Although I do wish I had the series 2 with oil filter and pump but oh well. I would wonder now and be scared that treating your tractor correctly and new oil the old girl wont know how to act. Lol

My tub cart lives in my shed too. Last job it had was picking up lunch at the steam pageant 3 yrs. ago. May have to break it back out again this year.

That looks like a model 1614. 16" rear wheels, 14 HP engine with 12" fronts. Jim Dandy models have 8" fronts.

Also check if you input drive pulley shaft has any in/ out play it should not have any. It will eat up gears if it had movement

Late check in due to just getting power/internet/phones back. We are in the Hudson Valley region. We had a few reportly tornados or microbursts. Thank God no real damage but nearby had a lot of down trees. Very thankful to turn generator off and enjoy the quiet.

Bob, I have an ammeter that came out of my 1974 c-160. I have no idea if my ammeter works because the wiring harness was basically a butchered up bag of shaken spaghetti inside the tractor. I didn't put it back in because I am a fan of a voltmeter instead. If you can tell me how to bench test this thing I'll do it. Throw me a few bucks for postage and you can have the gauge. I'll never use it and there's no sense just letting it sit on my shelf.

My wife drove the 502 and was pulling something heavy in our washed out gravel drive at the old house, she was spinning tires so I hopped onto the hitch to give her some traction... and it reared right up in the air. I reacted by jumping back, pushing the tractor back down and all was well. She hasn't had any urge to drive my tractors since! I guess that's why she owns that AC WD45 now, and I still play [work] with the .

Maybe it was Northern Tool or something, but I know I've seen some seat bases that bolt onto existing seats/springs and allow quite a lot of adjustment front/rear. Due to injuries, I need my legs pretty much straight out when sitting on the tractor - all of mine have been modified to offset the seats further back and my wife can't get to the pedals easily. The last, and one time she drove the old 1277 to the gas station resulted in her punching the '68 Charger I rebuilt with the 1277's hood - she let go of the direction control handle at 3/4 throttle, not a good idea on the older Sundstrand without holding down the clutch/brake pedal. Glad I wasn't between the two machines, lol.... Sarge

Thanks to A&Z Tractor for having the correct steering wheel for my 73 16 Automatic. Installed it tonight after getting home from work. Went splendidly the one that was on the tractor came off without problem. And after a bit of cleaning everything went together easily. Even had the center cap and that was in great condition.

a C series long stick hydro, C120 or even dare I say a C160 auto. My kids learned to drive tractor on a C120 AUTO. They don't need to reach the pedals and can control it pretty good eric j
