Little more fit, finish and figuring things out in between rain storms. Wanted to get the front on. Lost my battery tray somewhere in the shed, lol. I dont have the correct hole in the block for the belt guard so I have to get something there worked out. No big deal. I have plenty of duct tape. As she sits today......

A friend of mine asked me to come over and plow her rather large garden. I’m really busy right now, BUT not too busy for some seat time on GhostRider with a Brinly in tow! I gave a shout out to my local circle buddies and Dan @Achto decided to bring out his newly restored Raider. We had a great time turning earth! I had added the front wheel weights and decided to plow with the Punisher which may have been a little ambitious given the damp soil and plowing uphill one direction! However, GhostRider handled it fine. spun a little here and there but —MAN—did it feel good to be back in the saddle! So thankful to Dan for coming out and playing in the dirt with me, we finished just ahead of the rain. Can’t wait to do more plowing with all my plowing buddies. More story, pics and video in Dan’s resto thread for his Raider...

Can I just say here once again—“I REALLY ENJOY PLOWING!”? Dan’s creation not only looks amazing—It plows really well. Soil conditions weren’t great and we were up against some rain moving in but we still had a great time. Thanks Dan for the seat time! Dan gave me an opportunity to drive it last fall at Jim’s in its original state. We were having charging issues and I made it about 10 Feet before it ran out of battery! So, I was excited when Dan handed me the reins today and said take it for a couple of laps. The video doesn’t do the exhaust justice. It really has a cool sound and the fit and finish makes it feel like a brand new machine. Dan had the plow preadjusted and I don’t think he even turned the handle after making a round. The hydraulic lift handle is in a very convenient spot and the only thing that was stretch for me was the stirrups. However, Dan has longer legs than mine and it suits him just perfect. This tractor is a 10 and once again proves that ‘s when properly setup make fine plow mules! Even though we didn’t get much time to talk, I always enjoy hanging with my local circle buddies. Great friends—and great times!

Well, I've started going through my truck to see what all I have. Lots of goodies in totes and boxes. A lot of this will come to the Big Show. I do want to keep the H-5 headlights though along with some other items. Even got never mounted rear axle bracket and sleeve hitch made by Lowell. One pic shows Emory's push mower. Rain stopped me for the night.

Dan excellent restoration thread . Don’t know if it’s the end but you couldn’t have a better ending with those shots working in the dirt !

WOW !! Looks Great, you should be very proud of that little tractor.

What do you do after you spend a few months getting a tractor back into shape? You put it to work!! Today was the day to get it's new coveralls dirty!! @PeacemakerJack found some land that needed to be turned & I was more than willing to help. Of course it didn't happen with out pictures. I'm quite happy with the performance of this machine. The soil conditions were not terrible but the very damp clay was not the easiest to pull the plow through. It sure made the exhaust bark a little. Josh was nice enough to get some video while I settled the Raider into it's new life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPKnAJe3axo Josh took a few rounds with my Raider. He thought that it preformed very well also. Two proud 's showing off their work. Had a great time hangin' with Josh & giving my newly restored it's first work out.

@bmsgaffer This is the fan I am hoping to use. I have an oil filter wrench that I am turning down for a hub to fit inside the fan. Going to cut out the center of the fan so the fan slides over the pulley snout and then I will epoxy the “hub” inside the fan to make it all one piece. The bolt will go through the center and rest on the pulley snout like the original. Crossing my fingers

I have a twelve inch I have pulled behind my Raider 12 in the past. It did fine with it

Bring on the double 16 at Jim's I'm game.
  16. 4 points
Front seemed to stick pretty good, no problem steering or climbing out of a furrow. Could use a little more weight on the left rear, but I will soon have that covered. I was thinking that pulling a double 16" trailer plow might be worth paying to see. But if it only takes a 12" plow to impress Tom, that should be easy enough.

I ain't sceerd!! Actually looking forward to trying a 12" behind it.

You got it buddy! Threw in a couple extra pics just for drill. So Jason comes in to the tent and dumps a box full of parts out. I first thought he was giving up the hobby was bored and was gonna play with one of his kids old erector sets.Turns out he threw together a nice little drag harrow. My wife Cindy and one of our Iowa bros had a front row seat! Personally i think it came out so nice cause he put it together in such good company ( that nice 1067 to his back)!

I was waiting for you to weigh in on this discussion since you now have a video to look at! Dan’s Raider is definitely a great plow tractor. @Rp.wh Ryan (another local circle buddy) also has one just about like it ‘Cept with manual lift. It will be fun plowing with both those tractors out in the field! Time to start looking for more 12” Brinly’s

So I have a leg injury that’s keeping me outa work for a few days and out of a tractor seat . Had to get my son to get one of my tractors into mowing mode yesterday and today my 76 year old father is mowing my yard while I watch. He tags along to the WH Show with me but has no interest, just love going on “adventures”. His mower at home is a JD STX38, one of the littlest ride ons JD makes. This is his first time ever driving one of my Wheel Horses.

I took apart the distributor, and it turns out the little ground wire next to the magneto was completely destroyed, as in there was one little copper strand still connected. I'll have to solder the connection back together, clean up the points and verify the gap, and hopefully that fixes it. Hopefully tomorrow I'll take some photos of the tractor for reference.

If your Honey ends up wanting one, make sure you let her pick the one that suits her. Kelli loves her Big D—actually cut lawn with it on Mother’s Day. I told her I would be happy to do it and she said she wanted to enjoy the fresh air. I had built her a tractor years ago with a hand hydro. She never felt comfortable on it and said that she wanted a foot control. Set her up with that and power steering and she actually will tell me periodically that she wants to cut the lawn! Great video—thanks for sharing!

I've spent most of my life working or living in the woods or fields, whether doing general army stuff, hunting or living in the country. Until last week, I'd never thought twice about tick besides to spray myself and check when I came back. Last Tuesday, I found a tick on my upper calf that I didn't think could have been there long. Removed him properly and went on with life. By last Friday, my entire calf looked like I was beat within an inch of my life. That was also the last day I could keep food down. All weekend (I was at my house out of state that we're selling, so almost no furniture) I spent curled up on a couple blankets in front of a fan or turning it off and on depending on what kind of sweat I was having. Yesterday, I felt well enough to drive back home and kept chugging Gatorade and even Pedialyte to keep me going. This morning, I was waiting at the door of the VA clinic when they opened. Doc listened to what I said, looked at my leg and let out an exclamation I shouldn't type here (he's a vet, too. So, he uses army talk with me). I had blood drawn, a B12 shot and a bag of saline right there. I'm now on an antibiotic and I'm supposed to take the max of Tylenol and aspirin allowed for the next week. So, this is my warning to everyone else that if you have a rash, flu symptoms including dizziness. Get yourself checked out! Mine didn't look like the "bullseye" that is usually associated with Lyme disease. For the "too long, didn't read" crowd, I have two things to tell you. 1. When in doubt, go to the doggone doctor!! 2. The VA has really started taking care of folks. I only waited 45 minutes without an appointment to be seen in an overworked clinic where everyone was knowledgeable. Picture from today. On Friday, the whole lower leg was purple. I've never had anything close to that, even after a wreck or when I broke my back. I hope this helps someone.

Use a long extension bar and insert thru one side... make it bottom against the opposite side bearing and tap the bearing out with small hammer. Flip over dnad do the same for other side. To install, just lightly tap in place with a wood mallet of 2x4 blockk.

Reminds me of my wife, once riding the Stallion, it was hers. Rear discharge towing a sweeper, that was the end of my seat time. The boys took over the snow plowing chores. Guess it was nice pulling into the driveway, lawns looking good or snow cleared. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! The guys have their own Horses now-a-days. Finally my turn!

I was bit back in the 60s when no one knew these little blood suckers carried these diseases. I had the perfect red bulls eye ring, but thought it was just a rash from the tick bite. In six months I was suffering from severe migraine headaches, face numbness, depression, joint pain and a stiff painful neck. Years later in the 70s when the group of kids in Lyme Connecticut suffered these same symptoms, their mothers made the common link to a tick bite. But it was later in the 80s while studying Rocky Mt Spotted fever scientist Willy Burgdorfer found the tick also carried the bacterium that causes Lyme disease. After blood tests were developed in the 90s, I was tested for 5 years with 3 positives and 2 negatives. I was one of the lucky ones that survived without the help of early treatment. I really believe I have developed my own immunity as I have probably removed 20 ticks since and have not had another bulls eye ring. Anyway, thank you Posi for the reminder to get early treatment. These little buggers can be more deadly than a rattlesnake.

I had to watch last year when the VA gave me an epidural injection and I wasn't allowed to even sit down in a car. My wife actually enjoys push mowing for some reason. She's a weirdo, though.

Well my restoration has almost come to an end. Only thing left is to find a rear work light that I like. Kinda wanted some green grass for the pictures of the finished product but I settled for the white lawn that mother nature has left us. A thanks to @WHX17 for ideas, setting me up with some parts that helped me finish this project, & for the wet sanding help. First a peak under the hood. The Century Fox hydro pump fits very nicely, almost like it was made for the application. Thanks to @wheelhorseman for making the parts to keep these old Hein Werner pumps working as well as the tranny parts that keep our tractors rolling. Thanks also to @Shynon for hooking me up with a better engine shroud. @Vinylguy Did a fantastic job with the decals as always. The dash decal is always a bit challenging for me to lay down, but the end result looks awesome. My steering wheel turned out OK, might keep my eyes out for a different one though. I like to have an hour meter on my tractors for maintenance purposes but didn't want to cut a hole in any of the factory sheet metal. I decided to make a gauge mount for under the seat. The sides of the mount extend down so that the wires don't get damaged by loose items tossed into the tool box. Now a step back to show the whole package. Now I can start thinking about next winters project. I've done two stock...ish restos in a row. I'm thinkin' that it may be time for a custom next winter.
