10 pointsA couple weeks ago I was given one of these tagged 10 HP Hardware. Yesterday a friend stopped by and gave me three more. Another 10 HP, a GT-14 and a Lawn Ranger. The part numbers are 200061, 200057 and 200065. It really seems like an odd way to sell common hardware but they are cool. Based on the GT-14 I'd guess they were made in the early 70's. In my decades of Wheel Horsing I've never seen these before and all of a sudden I have four. Anybody have a clue as to what they were thinking? If somebody needed a 1/4"-20 nut would the nut in the Lawn Ranger work because there are none in the GT-14 kit.

9 pointsI was cleaning up pics on the PC this morning and came across this. I most likely got it from a Facebook post. I apologize if it's been posted here already.

6 pointsA few days back an acquaintance told me his neighbor had a non-running Wheel Horse he wanted to find a new home for. I took a look and saw quite a bit of parts potential, same trigger ignition system as my GT-14 and the seller said the Sundstrand transmission and hydraulic lift worked. Had to jumper across the solenoid to get it to turn over, but the battery was good and verified it had spark. Had some time today and after replacing the old nasty fuel, installing a new plug, ignition switch and choke cable it came to life. Engine was a bit shaky at first, but Seafoam in the fuel and sprayed in the air intake did the trick within ten minutes. It is a '69 Charger 12 andcame with a rather nice 48" SD deck and it is one of the quietest ones I've ever used. That being said I don't know if I have the heart to part it out, in spite of an ugly black paint job it is too nice a . I don't need it, have plenty; so, what are your thoughts.

5 pointsI recently happened upon a very old planet jr set up brinly. I had found a lid from a 300 with seed gauge calculations , banged it back to shape ,then made a hing & steel rivets.

5 pointsI sanded the rims 10 front and 8 rear and decided that it was time to make a wheel rotating device so i could spin the wheel while painting. All it took was an MTD rear differential with mounted wheels, a Harbor Freight battery powered drill, and piece flexible tubing. The tranny has an 11 to 1 gear reduction, so the drill on slow turns the wheel much slower Use the tubing to join the drill to the transmission drive, Flip the axle to a standing position, and that is it. Redneck Solutions Inc. I have developed a way to paint the entire wheel in one operation. I am gonna owe you guys pictures of that

4 pointsResurrected a couple horses from their winter hibernation... both popped off with just a turn of the key. Then, did a little mowing with the C-160... and, a little posing with the 1056.

3 pointsRichie. Blood sacrifice is not a literal requirement for restoration projects. We all imply it but try not to practice it!!! Bandage and scar or are you gonna need stitches?

3 pointsI'm glad to see so many of you enjoying this thread. Call me weird but I could sit and watch boats for hours. Set me up at a boat launch to a local lake and I can watch boats going in and out all day! Of course Pearl Harbor is a happening place so there are boats going by ALL day long. Couple from today....

3 pointsHopefully this post will help anyone that has a similar problem. Just found out that Onan is made by Cummins. The dealer is downtown Indy. They will have a new seal for me Monday.......$7 bucks.

3 pointsA little twist.......the lower clutch shaft is a separate shaft from the engine one. I was able to hit with a torch and it came off.

3 pointsBob that so many unopened packs (and a variety of models) fell into your lap is remarkable! Congrats. I've seen those packs many times over the years, but most of them have been opened and missing one or more pieces of the hardware. If I were to venture a guess it would be that the company somehow took statistical data from dealer orders/sales records on what the most commonly requested replacements were and decided to make these small packs to expedite service and not tie up the time of the service manager or dealer for such trivial requests. These could be displayed in the showroom on the rack for self-service. The laminated card packaging would make it less enticing to try to steal just one small part than if they were in open bins like at the hardware store. Besides, who among us doesn't packrat away an extra piece of hardware here and there because we might need it sometime?

2 pointsJust picked up a 2002 520xi w/ 52 in deck and 198.7 hours on the clock. Came with a snow blower. Blower has set outside and is faded and ugly but is all there. Original owner passed away and his heirs didn’t want this so they sold it to a Deere dealership about 1 hr 45 mins from me. Needed blades and still needs cleaned up. I have a 72 inch ztr but have been looking for one of the 5xi series for a little bit. Wanted one when they came out but couldn’t afford one. Was mowing 2.5 acres with a 1974 C160 that was bought new by my dad. Story for a different time. Snow blower will be for sale or trade (almost prefer trade)

2 pointsWonder... do they ever do any battle field reenactments there, like Gettysburg does? Now, that would be something to see.

2 pointsThese types of solutions are often found to be the most intelligent and thought-out and successful. Pictures. You know we want pictures. We all love our pictures. I could be positive and say it's because a picture is worth a thousand words but... Let's just face it. I'm a bit simple-minded and I just really like pictures.

2 pointsGreat score! I found these two in a miscellaneous box of parts last year. Unfortunately someone needed parts out of one of the "kits". But they're great wall hangers!
-
2 pointsThanks. I don't ever read the other brands thread. Maybe there are some folks that haven't seen it. I just felt compelled to share it. It is hilarious!

2 pointsI could never part a horse as good as that. They aren't making them anymore and one day they may disappear

2 pointsAfter deciding I had enough Wheel horses (under duress from wife) I just could not resist and acquired this beauty with 147 hours from a member. With it there is a 48" deck and a 44" two stage blower all in the same condition as tractor. Of course all original paper work included. I had already also acquired a snow cab intended for it. As I left he asked me if there was anything else I was looking for. The only thing I could think of was " A nice place to stay?"

2 pointsThe drive belt should not be tight on the pulleys without the engage idler pulley applying tension down on the belt. The belt should've easily fit onto the 2 drive pulleys with plenty of slack to allow it to disengage. The engagement idler pulley rides on TOP of the belt, the flat side and pushes down on the belt for engagement. I don't know what the correct length belt should be but it's either too short or somehow routed wrong or maybe the original pulley was changed or.... Maybe wrong size belt in the package? You'd be surprised how much of a difference an inch can make when it comes to belts so being "roughly" for the size may not work. Cut the old belt and it's much easier to measure the length when it's not in a loop. Just throwing out suggestions but a Pic is worth a thousand words.

2 pointsAfter it stopped snowing Saturday, I took the rear chains and roller chains off the 68 Commando 8, and changed the dozer blade over to the 36" mower deck. Changed the oil and greased the tractor and checked the lube. It's ready for lawn duties.

1 pointHello everyone. I had to sell my C85 a while ago and had not found another Wheelhorse to ad to the fleet till yesterday. I found a fellow giving away a Murray tractor, got it for our flip hobby. While there the guy asked if I'd be interested in a Wheelhorse. Told him lets see it. He moves a tractor to show a D-180! I never saw one in person and it is impressive! He has a ton of attachments for it as well, snowplow, roto tiller a rock rake and guess a rear plow, wheel weights and chains and spare tires! He says make me a offer and I have no idea and don't want to tick him off. I ask him what he would take and he says $500! I told him I can get $450 cash today and he said sure! Going this morning to get it. It doesn't run right now but hoping a fresh battery and fuel will get it to move. Going to be fun loading it as it sure looks heavy. I can't do much anymore with three herniated discs so hoping the fellows skid steer will do it!

1 pointI edited your title to a more specific title to indicate what the thread topic is about. For future reference, and for best results, it's better to make your thread title the topic you want to discuss, and not to use your username as a title. You will find you will get better and more responses to your questions.

1 pointThese motors are notoriously famous for loosing a rear valve seat. The main contributing factor is the engine gets over heated. Some people go with the thought it gets over heated because the drive belt guard blocks air flow over the back cylinder. This could account for some of the problems, but most come from operator error. Most everyday run of the mill home user did or does not pay attention to the grass screen getting blocked off by grass clippings. This motor has a huge air draw from the flywheel. It gets clogged real easy and real quick. So blocking off the air flow cause this engine to get good and hot. Combined with the belt guard blocking the already restricted air flow that’s why you see a high number of rear valve seat failures. Also most everyday home owners do not give the engine proper cool down time. The difference in materials of the valve seat vs the block. Each cool down at a different rate. Just some cool down time can make all the difference in the world. So it comes down to how well that tractor was cared for. If it was not cared for, it most definitely would not have made it to the hours on the meter. So it’s a buyer be ware situation. Go into it with some knowledge of that motor. Myself if you have no way of telling if that motor was cared for or recently been rebuilt, with that kind of hours on a Onan I would be very skeptical unless the price was one you can’t walk away from regardless of the unknown.

1 pointRolled out my Airborne Commando yesterday http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/74626-airborne-commando-wheel-horse/?tab=comments#comment-718379 Started and ran great. Couple minor things to adjust today and put air cleaner on. Used a cheap Chinese carb that ran well but they never tapped the side holes for the air cleaner bracket. Did that then found the front holes which were tapped are tapped for metric. I have lot of nuts and bolts but no 4/10mm. (Another McMaster order) Other frustration the engine I am using came from a C-81 and has the exhaust nipple that is not threaded on the end. Would love to use the C-81 muffler but it won't fit under a Commando hood and will have to use a pepper pot that needs a threaded end nipple. OK I will pull the nipple that is on there...We all know how much fun that can be. Spent 1 whole week squirting it a few times a day with In-Force BG and whacking it with a hammer. Nothing...spent the next week using PB Blaster no joy. Even after running for almost an hour yesterday still nothing. Finally even the candle wax. nothing. OK maybe put threads on the nipple, dragged out my antique pipe threader...way to big. Sooo guess it is time for the sawzall and chisel. Cut it collapse it the redress the threads In the block. Bought a 1" pipe taps a couple years ago for the same issue. Hopefully that will go well. Now I am going to have a refreshing malted beverage!!!! Pic 1 nut an bolt supply with no 4mm Pic 2 Nipple Pic 3 Pipe threader
