Yesterday I filled the Rear wheels with RV Antifreeze, Got the wheel Weights on and mounted the plow. Today Grading the 1500 ft Driveway. I'm impressed the new Eaton 1100 pushed like a bear. The Hydro lift is great. For the last 12 years I've been doing all the work here with the 310-8. Huge difference, When I bought this Tractor it was in tough shape all rusty and no maintenance. After some sandblasting ,Paint and a new Hydro I love it

Any owner of a 953/1054 has had, or will have, that empty feeling in the pit of their stomach as they look in the rear view mirror and see their seat fly away as they drive off, or discover it missing later. There always seems to be a tendency to be preoccupied and just forget to stow the seat cushion in the cab of the truck. Last evening a simple solution came to me, an uncomplicated passive method of securing the seat. I made up a short piece of spring steel wire which attaches to the bottom of the seat and passes through the gas cap opening of the seat base, the seat cushion is then pushed back securing the seat tightly. I installed one today and it took both hands to get the seat cushion to budge. I won't tempt fate, I will continue to remove the cushion, but if it slips my mind I am confident that it will be there when I arrive at my destination! I'm going to make up a bunch of them and give them out at the Big Show.

Got my garden plowed last weekend with my very nice original new to me plow. Did a great job!

Very cool idea and nice of you! Now, for the non-RS Big Show folks you should post them on Ebay, add a part number (something like NOS WH-953 st-cushn*fastn-1) and sell them for $19.99 each. Probably make more than a few bucks!!!

So it started my son has an 1969 electro 12 that he calls his tractor. It is as time for my daughter to have this 653. I have never restored anything thought it would be something good to start with. Here are pics of the hood before and after wire wheeling and primer and paint

That looks like a Red Green fix to me...just minus the duct tape!

True, but at this point I’m very happy with tractor as well. After a carb and pump cleaning and points change it came to life without any blue cloud or unwanted sounds. I also have the deck from this horse, bought it last year when the tractor wasn’t for sale. Ive been hoping he’d list it and made my move the moment I saw it.

A good strap wrench is my tool of choice for removing a shift knob. A small pipe wrench headed in the oposit direction attached to the shift lever is a good way to improve leverage.

Although not an original setup I bought a New Old Stock chrome light to go on my Wheel Horse light bar. I am posting becasue the light was new in a partial box, with all the original parts, and the parts list from the original box. This is something I have never seen before. Too bad Peterson Manufacturing does not make these lights any longer!

Been working on putting my NOS front deck carrier put together. It's coming along nicely. I think I'm going to like it! Pretty much just have to mount pulleys and run belts. Also install center spindle

You can try a non-invasive approach first -- add Sea Foam to a fresh tank of gas and run it; might take a few tanks to clean it all out. That was all it took to get rid of a mild surge with my 520H when I first got it. (It had sat too much the year before I bought it, so stale fuel had left some deposits.) The traditional quick cleaning method with Sea Foam is to mix some with the fuel, and also start up the engine, open up the air filter housing and slowly pour Sea Foam into the carb -- slowly at first so it keeps running for 15-30 seconds, then let it flood with the Sea Foam. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes, then start it. It will be really smoky for a few seconds as the gunk blows out -- do it outside or have the garage door open. For "normal" dirty carb problems, this usually gets rid of the crud fairly well -- it will break down deposits and flush them out to be burned in the engine. Better than spray cleaner which tends to just drive gunk deeper into the carb. For a carb that's been left to sit for a long time with some seriously stale fuel, you'll want to have the engine manual on hand to follow for disassembly and then give it a proper dip in carb cleaner. Ethanol-blended fuels can leave some nasty deposits if they're left to sit too long -- especially in an engine and fuel system that was never run much after the fuel chemistry switch. The ethanol partially dissolves all the old gunk and varnish in the fuel system -- but if you don't keep running fuel through it -- multiple tanks worth -- you don't get all the old gunk burned out. Then when it's parked, the ethanol evaporates and all the nasty stuff drops back out of suspension and makes a worse mess. And sometimes it eats into old rubber fuel lines and the like and makes more sludge.

Bought this tractor from it’s second owner last August. His dad actual owned a wheel horse deal in western PA. Said that his dad brought this home new from the dealer and had been in family ever since. Engine isn’t original it was replaced in 1968 with another Tecumseh 6hp. Got the tractor, mower deck and dozer blade for $300. Wanted a round nose and just had to have it.

Hello All, Had a real good weekend... picked up a 416-8 (Kohler Mag) with a completly trashed 42 sd deck and a C165-8 with a minty 48 sd deck. On way home I received a text message from Tom @stratostar250 Asking if I still had my 50th anniversary up for trade... Long story short I got the 416 cleaned up and running / changed the oil. Made a trade with him for his 1277... both tractors in similar condition. I wanted a 50 yr old weathered hydro and him a "big Kohler". Then I got the 165 running and changed the oil... stood back and said to myself "I know who needs this more than me..." sent pics to Mike @Sparky and he said he would look at in the morning. Long story short again he bought it and parked in his garage to work on when he gets back from his business trip. Heres some pics... and heres where I scratch my head. 1) check out how the exhaust is setup on the 1277.... I mean really? Next to the plow angle arm and close enough to repeatedly touch? 2) ummmm whats this add on welded / bolt on rake contraption on the bottom of the plow with all that welded on angle iron on top suppose to do besides act as a parking brake? Just screws off Jerry....rightzy tightzy. .. lefty loosey. Get it soaking for a bit first in your favorite penetrant. May have to use a channel locks on it to get it started but use a piece rubber on the jaws so as not to mar it.

Inspired by the thread by thehoz with regard to mower deck blades, I thought it was time to clean up my mower deck. I should explain that I use my cub cadet for mowing, with my wheel horse being used as backup, in case anything happens to the CC. As a consequence, in the last 11 or 12 years, the wheel horse mower deck has only been used a few times. It has always performed as it should, when required, but it was badly in need of cleaning. With what people said about keeping it clean in thehoz's thread, I suddenly felt guilty for letting mine sit there covered in grass, from seasons long gone by. I know you guys already know such things, but I have to once again give a big shout out to wheel horse. More or less twelve years of sitting there covered in grass, and maybe 25 years of mowing prior to that, and in my opinion it came apart and cleaned up astonishingly well. Only one bolt gave me trouble, went very stiff after a couple of turns, but I just squirted some WD40 on it, and kept winding it in and out, getting it to come out a little further each time, until finally it just wound all the way out, and still looked fine when I got it out. It's not going to win any competitions for its appearance, but after so long, still working freely, and cleaning up so well has amazed me. Unlike my cub cadet that already has areas of rust through, and weld failure, which I've had to repair, this deck is still solid, and I think it's as old as the wheel horse, which is around 40 years old. I could be wrong on the age, maybe it was a second deck, but it's still old. Even the belts all looked good, lol. I took the opportunity to pop some grease in with the grease gun, where appropriate, and have now put it away again, to rest in relative cleanliness, until the cub cadet needs some maintenance or repair, when it will step into the breach once more. I've attached three shots. One without guards, then one from the bottom, and one from the top when reassembled. Okay, the bottom doesn't look great, but it isn't terrible.

Put a new ignition switch on the 876 (I converted it to a relay system a few years ago after having problems with the original switch). Removed the snow thrower from the 520-HC and put the deck on. My neighbor welded a section from a scrap deck on the left side where it was rusted out. I think it turned out good!

Here is what you are looking for... If you google ”Valspar 5339-01” you will find all kinds of it still available on line ranging from $6-$15. I have found it to be a really decent paint for spray bombs. I believe they also have this available in qts and pints if you prefer to “roll your own”. Other pro painters on here may disagree with me and I would respect their opinions more than mine. However, for the DIY guy, this is a really good product. Lowe’s was my go to for this product but I just got off the line with an idiot there who wasn’t willing to help me. He said, “We Don’t Have that on the shelf.” I said, “you ordered it for me in the past from your Valspar supplier by number.” He said, “Sorry sir, I can’t help you!” THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS! So—hopefully this helps you in your search for some paint! I’m fairly confident that if you have a Lowe’s near you and a willing person at the paint counter that they can order you a case 6 cans from Valspar direct...

@T-Mo, way cool, I remember plowing our garden as a young lady with either a Cub Cadet or an Allis Chalmers C narrow front, one year I was about 13 and dad had been in a car accident and broken his right wrist so it was left to me to hitch up that big plow to the AC (looked quite a bit like the one the Cub you were on) and where we stored the plow wasn't exactly an easy back up bolt on a go but long story short I got it hitched up and got the garden turned over all myself good times, Jeff.

So I spent some time today getting the RJ torn down. I then cleaned all the parts to remove oil etc in prep for sand blasting. I am going to need to tear into the rear end. I have a rebuilt 58' sitting on the shelf but I cannot put that in as this is a 59' and the date code the rear shows 59'. I was able to pull carb and soak it, flush the fuel tank and the usual other stuff to get the economy running. It runs great and looks to have new valves. No smoke nor noise. I messed around with the D series rims and they fit but i needed to pull the fenders.

Swapped out the seat for a shorter seat and spring. I put the original on my 1965 Economy. Needs front tires and more paint clean up and buff. I am going to try and do some pulling with it as well. Will need to make a hitch point and add some wheels off the back as a wheelie bar
