Yesterday I was at Lowe’s checking out what’s new for Spring around the Great Lakes. I was looking at the specs on some lawn equipment when a sales person approached me to promote the top of the line Husqvarna. After a minute I stopped him and told him I already have two horses that work on my lawn. He laughed as if I was making a joke of his pitch. So, I pulled out the iPhone and showed him a picture. His reaction ... “what is that!”. Hard to even explain the difference to a young person.

Lost, but it did find it's way home this dreary morning. Let's hope the HH100 fires and runs as good as my HH120.

Brought this home tonight. I didn’t title this post “New Horse Hauler” cause I’m BROKE now! Won’t be buying any Wheel Horses for awhile 🙄 . But I will ride in comfort to the WH Show.

I'm only 27 and I have had the exact same experiences. Now don't everyone go hating on me, but I mow my grass every week with a Cub 102 that belonged to my wife's grandfather. Great tractor, runs like a champ, cuts nice. My neighbor has a brand new Cub Cadet he got last spring and makes fun of what he calls "my old jaloppy"...........what does he know about tractors lol

I am only 32 but I was raised a bit different then most people my age. So I get a laugh from this because I get people stopping me all the time when they see me working on my old tractors or hauling a new horse home. If its the older generation there usually excited to see them and are always up to chat about them. But if it's the younger generation it's always what are you gonna do with that junk. So I tell them I'm gonna restore it or I'm gonna use it for work. Then you get the the normal oh why not just buy a new one. Then I get my laughs and say this is a new one to me and it will out last your plastic $5000 investment by many years.

Let ' em keep buying the new grass cutters and leave the tractors for us.....

Salesman was probably 20 years younger than your horses... The problem of course is that all us "old" guys just don't understand... It's all about the eye candy design now...Gotta look "cool" and "zoomy"...It isn't about the work it can do or how durable it is, since it will be at the scrapper in 3-5 years...and besides, they will change the color scheme so you gotta get a new one anyways...right? I mean, when you post your selfies on snapchat the tractor's gotta look cool after all. Cuz like...that's what its all about, ya know? Low monthly payments for the rest of your life...new one every 2-3 years... UUHHGG...

Maybe I should try that at my local Lowe's...silly boy orange is for carrots and toys if ain't red leave in the shed...

Very nice truck, but I am disappointed. I swear the title of this post was" New Fish Truck". I expected to see the trout stocking truck.

I've been switching all of the bulbs on my tractor to LED, in the interests of reducing the current draws in the loom (it's a 520... ) I got around to doing the instrument bulbs and have been impressed with the difference. I searched for the bulb type (233 T4W) which turned up quite a few bayonet-fitting types. I opted for whatever was reasonably quick and cheap and ended up with these: 233 T4W on ebay Swapping them over was a cinch and the LEDs are not only brighter but because they cast a much whiter light than the originals, the gauges are easier to see in all conditions. Well worth the £1.60!

The Allison on my 2001 GMC senses to automatically downshift on a downgrade if I touch the brakes. There is also the Tow/Haul switch to activate as well. It, along with the remaining tractors, is another piece that will will be on the block once we finish moving. 57K in 17 years!

I'm surprised he didn't point out the fact that your's doesn't have a drink holder!

Before we moved to Florida in 2000 just about everybody knew Wheel Horse. For the 17 years down there just about nobody did. Now back home just outside of South Bend and a mile from the old plant I'm amazed at the number of people that haven't heard of them. Times sure are changing. It would be an interesting poll to sit your beautiful SK next to that Husky and see who would pick what. Actually, it might be a sad poll.

Finished putting a mower deck under my 857 last night. The lights are some I had. Someone had punched holes in the hood long before I bought it, so no harm, no foul mounting them. Got a pic of Emory's cart after I got it Rhino lined and painted. I needed to mow the yard, so I got out the 68 Lawn Ranger. Had to pull start it because the battery is dead, but after several pulls the Ole Tecumseh roared to life. Drove around in circles for a while and now I feel much better!

JUST IN FROM DAD... The Iron Horse is getting a little workout today! Dad tried pulling this last year with his Scott’s “throw away” tractor—I don’t think so! It pulled it for about 10 minutes then the trans stopped pulling so it was time to use something up to the task at hand! The 875 has earned its relaxation mode after better than 50 years of work. However, it’s cool to see that it can still pull its weight when called upon!

Nice Haul Ed! Someplace in PA a suspension bridge is about to fail due to a missing trunnion! But, the will steer well with the tiller attached.

Your really gonna enjoy that truck Mike ! 355HP and 385#’s of torque at your disposal and like Hillbilly said great mileage too ( the best was 27mpg highway in my 2015 4x4 suburban ) . I really love my Suburban ! But I better because I don’t plan on buying another vehicle anytime soon. Have fun with your newish truck. My son can’t leave anything stock . His 2015 Silverado has aftermarket intake, catback dual exhaust and tuner. He also did a 1 1/2” body lift , 2 1/2” level kit , GMC 20” wheels w/ 295- 60 Nitto’s tires (34” tall) and traded the chrome for painted pieces. The latest project is a costume front bumper he built from scratch using cardboard templates. It’s going to be LinedX , color matched of course .

I am still running my 2002 Silverado 4x4 with the Duramax and Allison tranny. Just hit 108K and is just getting broken in.

Always here to help!! In truth, I have an RJ58 project in the shed that the muffler will be used for, but if someone offered my $240 that would fall under the "offer I couldn't refuse" category.

Mike- That is my kind of truck! Be sure to bring a tow chain as there will be a few Ford guys heading down that will need a tow for sure

There's a new 2018 here too... motors nice & smooth down the road. Just cracked the 500 mile mark, and It's already completed it's first hauling chores with flying colors.

I'm not sure how you quoted me but I read that three times and laughed so hard!!! I went back and looked at the post you quoted and was relieved it didn't actually say that lol BUT I can tell you with 100% certainty that if I would sell it I would buy more horse stuff! If someone has $240 they want to give me for it, I will sell it without hesitation and I will even include shipping in that price!!

The GMs have the tow haul mode as well, then the back up camera for hitching trailers, didn't know if I would like the "slushamatic" trans after only owning manuals since getting my license, but I really like this one especially the fuel mileage with the V8, @Sparky I think you'll like it as well, Jeff.

We all know that Wheel Horse had a tenancy to use the parts on hand and wouldn't shut down the assembly line because a bin full of steering wheels was delivered that didn't match the ones they had been using yesterday. As the US Postal Service said,"If It Fits; It Ships!"

Mines a used truck (2015) there are loads of trucks coming off 3 year lease plans all the time. Much much less expensive if you don’t mind a few miles on em. I only put 6000 or so miles a year on my trucks so a few miles from a previous owner didn’t bother me.

How'd you get a picture of my yard before the last snow? This year I'm renting a "BIG" spiked roller and using the Mahindra to tug it up and down my hilly pasture , going mole hunting...

got my 414-8 ready for mowing season, oil changed, chassis and front end greased, deck blades sharpened, deck spindles greased, air filter cleaned, points adjusted, spark plug cleaned and re-gapped and it cranked right up like it has for the last 32 years.

Overkill for small utility trailer but it will work and I don’t have to upgrade now as I increase capacity over next 10-15 years. The average time I keep a truck:-)

You can pull the clutch off and take it to a machine shop, they can generally figure out how to press the bearings out so you can get numbers for replacements. Sarge

The interchangeability of Wheel Horse attachments amazes most non folks. Especially now that I got my 76 back and I put the 48" deck that I used on it for many years on my 2005 Classic. I put the 42" that was on the Classic on the 76. I'm one to say that 12hp is fine with a 48" My Dad ran one on a Raider 12 for over 3 decades. I purchased a GT1100 (Briggs 11hp) with no attachments new and had a spare 48" deck that I put on it. No issues.

While I was out in the magic shed these beauts wanted to bust out of their stalls....weather finally in the 50's!
