I didn't get real good shots of our lineups maybe Dan got better ones. I think this is a corn sheller?? Help me out guys. cool working spark plug display below this was on the steam engine Josh showed above...pretty cool for the day Putting an edge on the shingle mill blade. Peacemaker Jack & kids having a good time... did I mention the weather was really nice?!?!? This is what that Case mentioned above did all weekend. Idle hands are the devil's workshop as they say so I put'em to work! I gotta have one these someday being a Lennox dealer & all Lennox Kitty track 600, Only made in '62 & '63 ...or is it 63 & 64?!?!? Regardless very cool! This one looked to be in good shape The owner wasn't around all weekend but I left a card on it if he was willing to sell! There was a D-200 for sale there that was in very nice shape. Nice FEL, 3 pt, turning brakes... We drooled over it all weekend but we couldn't come up with enough money between all of us to buy penny candy! This was the only pic I got stupid me. May be @Achto got one. I did determine from the motor SN that it was a '74. in no way am I trying to sell this for the guy.

Some small shows are destined for greatness, and I think that this one is. Being only about 15 miles from my house, it is a no brainer that o would attend. I'm not exactly sure to what level but I know that @Achto has input into the organization and planning of this thing! It has a very nice location along the waterfront and includes many shade trees, ample bathroom and food facilities, even a couple of nice playgrounds for kids if you have them. They annually have a feature tractor and a feature Garden Tractor which is really cool for us GT fans. This year the feature GT was anything Wheel Horse. It was really cool to see the GT's there. @WHX12 and @Rp.wh brought multiple examples plus Dans collection along with others. There was a nice representation of on the grounds. Dad and I got to show Clyde And Blackbeard for the first time--that was fun. Two of my boys attended with me and we all had a good time. It was neat seeing the threshing machine in operation as well as several saw mills. Here Zach is posing for a pic on Jim's newly restored horse! This was a beautiful JD 630 Watching this old Case steamer run the sawmill was a thing of beauty. I'll have to post some of my videos later... Jim and Dan took far better pics than me, keep an eye out for those. It was was a great show and I'm looking forward to it growing in he upcoming years. I felt it was a great turnout for year number 2!

Get a few up then when I get some time then. A week off of work for bear hunting followed by a tractor show has go me behind the 8 ball at work! I have got to tell the story about Dan's phone...... I really snickered when his brother made the comment about putting it in front of the truck tire! Nice little load of round hoods ready to go with four more in the big box. Nice thing about a show this close (and two trucks/trailers) is making a double trip. Cindy actually handled the Dodge pretty good!

Dad sent me a few pics he took of the line up on Saturday morning. The shade was nice but not good for clean, sharp pictures... Lots of cool stuff!

Painted up the back blade and washed the old man. October 7th can't come fast enough, I'm excited! I failed to mention that the horses new stall is almost complete!

Good call Jim! Our "in house" AC man!!!! Why didn't I think of that? There were some very nice AC tractors there for sure! Lots of old time machines in operation all around the grounds. I really appreciate seeing people maintain them and share them with the rest of us. My family had/have a bunch of vintage Case tractors but they were busy taking off soybeans and so they weren't in attendance but they would've enjoyed this lineup. This old rat rod International truck had this interesting "swan" hood ornament. Does anyone on here know if this is a factory thing or an aftermarket item put on it? I wish I had a better pic of this 1969 IH pickup because it had a great back story. Dad and I were looking at it carefully when an older lady came up to us and asked us what we thought of her mostly original truck! It was in very good shape for being a 48 year old truck in Wisconsin. It took an 18 year hiatus in a barn which ended when the roof collapsed on the barn! The truck had a ladder rack with two old mattresses on it which saved the truck. They used it as a catalyst to get it back on the road! Cool!

I personally would not reuse the head gasket. I decarbon, sand head flat torque to specs run up to temp then let cool and then retorque head.

Here are a few more pics from a few days ago the last week of September...I recently put a first coat of Rust-o-leum metallic speck red paint on the sheet metal parts. These pictures do not do justice to metallic red paint. The sparkle in the red is pretty cool in the sunlight. I also mounted the Predator motor. This hot rod tractor build is still a work in progress, but now that I am finally back on it, I like where this is going.

Thursday, Sept 28,2017 Pretty much a set up day. Locally made tractors were featured. Quite a collection of Sheppard Diesels .... Made in Hanover, Pa. The Druck Family sets up their new TOY. Chain saw collection. This is what happens when you have a tractor that needs an engine and hit n miss that needs wheels.....Built by this 83 year old youngster. A couple wicked fords. First youngster to ride the Crazy Horse. I had a few red ones there and saved plenty of room for Erics herd of 30 coming tonight. Oops, gotta go, Mrs K just pulled in with her "stretch" to take me out for for dinner.

How about using one or two steel pipe couples welded together and cut to length . Weld a cap on end , drill a bunch of holes in pipe . Grind the threads back on the muffler until the couple slides in so that the couplers threads are just sticking out . Weld the coupler and muffler together . Grind down weld and make it look pretty . Hope this makes sense .

Nice shots of the pickups , and all the fun . Wish we had shows like that around here.

WOW! I thought I had something to add to this thread, but you guys have much better stories than I do. Carry on!

In addition to what Craig posted, I have always hot torqued the head bolts after the engine has been operated and is at operating temperature.

DISCLAIMER: YOU CANNOT SWAP THE AXLES OUT OF A GT14 TRANSAXLE INTO AN EATON 1100 TRANSAXLE. BUT...... you can if you use a D160 axle and an Eaton 1100 axle. So I finally got all my transmission gaskets and seals in so I thought I would tackle that today. Split it back apart and tacked up my gaskets and replaced the brake shaft seal. Put a little grease on the seals and slid it together. Got to looking at it and seemed like one axle was sticking out farther than the other. So back to measuring and found a 5 inch difference. Now this is with the gt14 axles in the eaton 8 pinion differential. A 520 has the same end caps on the diff whereas the gt14's are different and offset to one side. So back out and flipped it around to test it the other way.Better but still stuck out farther on one side. Measured the 520 axles and there was a 3" difference in length. Measuring the gt14's axles and there was only one inch difference in length. So I started lining up axles on the bench to try and get the 3" like the original 520 axles since that was the case they were going in. Remembered I had a D160 axle laying on the floor. Grabbed it and measured some combinations and got what I needed. The D160 axle was 3-3/8" longer than the long axle out of the eaton. Other than the keyway being different, it's the same diameter and would work. Put them in and it was just a hair too long. Consulted Aldon, the Swami of GT14 's and he said it should be good to go. I am already too far in it to quit. So I cut 3/8" off of the D axle and got my needed width the same on both sides. I knew i saved that axle for a reason. Dont have a lot of photos because my hands were covered in gasket tack and oil. But I got some. What a day. New seals #6449 and #7443 520 axle this side...............................D160 this side 👍 Cut 3/8" off the D axle ✔️ Polished smooth and chamfered ✔️ Was going to do the black trans and chassis but decided it needed to be red. I have several ideas for paint.

My 1st father in law was a farmer....a very rough farmer. He used railroad ties chained to the wheels when he got hung up in mud. Never turned a tractor over, but he did rip the fender off of a CASE 730 tractor with the RR tie.

If you can post a picture of your recoil I can tell you which one you have.
  29. 2 points
Sounds like I need to find the correct cup for my recoil or visa versa?
  30. 2 points
At that time Kohler did not make their own recoil, so the K91 could have 1 of three different recoils. You could have a Schnacke, Tecumseh, or a Fairbanks recoil. Each company used their own style of cup.

Best thing to do! Brian fixed one for Emory and it turned out awesome! You'd never know anything had been done to it unless you put an original next to it to compare the hole pattern!
  32. 2 points
Sorry that my pics aren't so great, but it was getting late. Emory had been asking Dad to ride a horse with him for a long time. Dad finally decided he would take out my worker GT14. He's had both knees replaced, so getting on and off was a little tough for him. They had a ball! Emory was on his Lawn Ranger from @limited12, Dad on the GT14, and I decided to follow on the 701 I bought at the Big Show. All 3 of us enjoyed the night!

Steering tower cut and plate mounted. Knobs trimmed and switches test fitted where cables used to be. Need to move the ignition switch to the right and the lighter will go where the switch is now.

The oil lights all flash to get your attention. The test switch is there so you can make sure the lights are working. Once the engine oil pressure comes up the oil light should go out. If the oil light is on with the engine running shut it down and find out why it is on. Garry

I would clean up the junction points on the rotten deck and then spray paint it [one side of the baffles] so you have an accurate pattern to reference. Once you remove the baffles, it is too late to do that. It would not be that hard to cut some better material out of the old deck to make new baffles or get sound metal to patch the old ones. If you are afrid that you might blow holes through the deck while welding on the baffles, you could weld mounting tabs to them and bolt them to your deck. If you use tab mounts, the entire deck could be rustproofed before the install of the baffles. I really like this stuff to paint on the bottom of your surviving deck. Does a great job of sealing the deck against corrosion. http://www.agriguardcoatings.com/home.html I have two seasons on a deck [Huskee 54' by MTD} that was solid but had cheap steel with heavy, flaking rust After really pecking all the loose stuff off and wirebrushing, the Agri-Guard dried like glass and is holding up well.

Thanks everyone. I found the YouTube video that showed the overhaul procedure and he identified the 2 shift forks and how they need to be aligned. It all made sense from there. I made sure it was rolling back and forth in gear Blocked the wheels stuck my finger down the hole and confirmed it was in neutral. I didn't have time to find a set screw. I found a screw that already had a tip on it. It took about 10 minutes and a file to get it to the correct size. Worked perfect. I will locate the correct screw over the next week or so. I'm sure it's a better grade of steel. I will check out the previous threads for "loose Shifter" as well. I don't know why I didn't think of that at the time. Thanks for that reminder, so I do that first next time. I guess I was in a panic. Had a trailer full of dirt and that tractor is the only thing I have that will pull it up the hill. I love low range. Good news is, I was only down for about an hour and got "Edward" back to work pushing dirt and pulling my loaded trailer.

The fuel tank, non working, was bent up around a scrap wood former. The measurements were again supplied by my man with the tape, Iain, along with good side view photo's which showed the radius of each corner ! Although the base of the tank was wider than the top, all corners were the same radius. The original idea was to bend the alloy around the former then remove it which left the question, how to fix it all together. The obvious solution, apart from alloy welding, was to screw the panels to the wood which would be left in place hidden from sight. Odd bits of wood were dug out, cut to size, and screwed together after first using the ends to mark out and cut the alloy outer plates. These were bolted to the wood with countersunk BA bolts, the heads blended in with filler. The main panel was cut to size and after carefully lining up, was screwed to the underside of the former. Then it was bent around one face at a time, securing with screws before moving on to the next, and finishing on the underside. Where else. All the screw holes were countersunk, the screws again being blended in with filler. The filler neck was a short piece of alloy bar, screwed into place, and finished off with a cap from an oil can. Rubber edge trim was fitted after painting.

Considering the condition it is in and the scarcity of parts it probably would not be a great candidate for restoration. But the good parts could help others out.

I just got home from the show and saw your post Robbie. Yes, as you know, I was there today and I really enjoyed meeting and talking with you and your family. I will be there tomorrow for a short time to load the rest of the tractors. That is the wildest beast I ever heard Mike. Maybe I can get him to light it up tomorrow for a short video. Saturday, Sept 30,2017 Eric and a Roadapple showed up and we filled the Horse pasture. The OAT eaters had a pull also.

Norman does a good job on videos. I always enjoy watching them. I have a M12 and a K341 at the machinist now being worked. Both had balancing gears, but I am not replacing them in either of the engines. We will see how long they last!

http://www.agriguardcoatings.com/ I used this two seasons ago. It dries like glass and does not chip off. I took off all the flaking rust and got the surface wire brushed down to very tight rust, but not bare metal and washed it with soap and let it dry. It paints on nicely with a cheap natural fiber brush. If you do two coats, you should only wait 4 to 6 hours between coats. $30 for black color and $40 for Aluminum color. Avoid high humidity days for applying the stuff as it cures by humidity and excessive humidity can make it form small bubbles in the finish

I know that it is perfect original patina but send it to buckrancher have him put a new face and internals in it. As far as the one thread i could only recommend an electrical conduit locking nut for 3/4 metal conduit? Hope it works out for you

We had the same problem with people walking their dogs and letting them crap in our yard. My grandchildren and the neighborhood kids play out there! Now I keep a close eye whenever I see people with their dogs. So far I took MY dogs 3 different times in the car right to their house and walked them in their front yard. When they came out asking what was going on, I explained that this is where I'm letting my dogs crap just like you do to me. That's 3 less people who walk their dogs anywhere near our front yard!

I didn't know this. Very valuable info for us truck addicted peoples. I'm originally from Athol and still have family there so maybe this'll be a roadtrip next year. Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing. We go up to the Owl's Head Transportation Museum show annually and my Father had the honor of meeting and talking with Mike Trotto last year. He was quite a guy. Love the fact that you are introducing your boy to the big trucks!

I remember as a kid when my family had the excavation business we had a single axle Brockway (gas job) and a non-detachable lowboy that would haul a cable operated Caterpillar D-7. I wonder what would happen if you tried that with a single axle tractor from today? Boy would I love to have that set up restored now! I remember parts of the cab were made out of wood. Anyway here is the truck I may have to drive at any given moment, for free!! She's not an antique(1995) but I refer to her as the pride of the fleet.
