13 pointsSorry that my pics aren't so great, but it was getting late. Emory had been asking Dad to ride a horse with him for a long time. Dad finally decided he would take out my worker GT14. He's had both knees replaced, so getting on and off was a little tough for him. They had a ball! Emory was on his Lawn Ranger from @limited12, Dad on the GT14, and I decided to follow on the 701 I bought at the Big Show. All 3 of us enjoyed the night!

10 pointsThere was a recent car auction here in U.K. Which saw a very nice 604 in the catalogue the tractor along with reel mower, cutting deck & 1 furrow plough , fetched a price of £1700 ,,,$2770 .50 The 604 is very rare here in U.K. & are highly desirable , as is any round hood wheel horse

8 pointsI picked these up yesterday. They were all scrap yard bound. Ended up with a good snow blower, 3 good rear ends and some other parts. So it was worth it for me. The guy pulled the motors off all 3 and was gonna junk the rest. I left the decks cause they were beyond repair or anything salvageable. All 3 tractors were used until they had motors ripped off. They look kinda rough. But that's cause they never been stored inside. Atleast not for the last several years. I also got the gas tank and steering wheel and steering shaft for the 552. The C-120 is a 1976. I'm unsure of what exactly the black hood was. The serial number is wore right off.

5 pointsTry the old man's trick. Heat it a little bit and push some wax onto the stud. That will draw the wax onto the threads, giving them just enough lube to let the stud turn out. Have not ever tried this myuself, but told that it works.
-
5 pointsI just got home from the show and saw your post Robbie. Yes, as you know, I was there today and I really enjoyed meeting and talking with you and your family. I will be there tomorrow for a short time to load the rest of the tractors. That is the wildest beast I ever heard Mike. Maybe I can get him to light it up tomorrow for a short video. Saturday, Sept 30,2017 Eric and a Roadapple showed up and we filled the Horse pasture. The OAT eaters had a pull also.

5 pointsMade a plate today to relocate the throttle and choke down where the amp guage used to be. Ran out of machine screws so just riveted them in till I get some more. Have to make the amp guage hole bigger and square, then mount it up. Im replacing the original throttle and choke cables with these from a c-175 and will fill the cable housing holes with push button switches. Knobs will get reworked too. Just trying out some different things.

5 pointsUse a magic marker and put a line on the end of each axle and hub and on the input pulley and shaft. start it up, put it in gear and let the clutch out for a second then check all three to see if one has moved.

5 pointsFriday, Sept. 29, 2017 Still paving this morning. Looks like a small crowd. Eric was hare and off loaded a few Horses. Mixed breeds The Studebaker Turd Hearse With a V-12 Detroit. Check the widened fenders and twin 8" stacks. This thing Looks and sounds like beast. 1909 Pullman made in York, Pa. Steamers MVI_8415.MOV This turned out better than I expected. More old iron.

4 pointsWho’s going? It’s Oct 7-8. Weather permitting I’ll be there Saturday. Prepping the Commando 8 to be my “cruiser”.

4 pointsFirst off thank you all for the kind Birthday greetings. Got myself a B-Day present. Bring on the leaves. I am impressed by the design and quality of the build. The horse is my recent CL find has a Series 2 KT 17 that is gray (service engine) but built to a Wheel horse Spec... She has made a couple of trips with the rake picking up heavy damp grass. Worked well. The screen on top of the rake has to be cleaned rather often with the damp grass. also gets very heavy when full. Mowing uphill in heavy grass with the rake almost full made her hit the governor . Full up the rake will push the C-175 around on turns. may have to look at front weights. Have to do some cosmetic work on the horse. I wanted to make sure she was mechanically reliable first. (Then again none of my horses are show queens)

4 pointsI would be soaking it for a few days myself with tranny fluid and acetone mix before trying. Good luck.

3 pointsI bought my 857 a month ago and it's been a great machine. Came with a deck I'm assuming is a RM-367 that works great and is very quiet, but the front of the shell is rotted out. Two weeks ago I picked up a 36" RD deck for next to nothing, which is great because WH stuff is hard to fine here. The second deck was also rotted out in the same area, but not as bad and someone did a terrible patch job. This week I had a local welding shop do a new patch job and he did a excellent job. So now the plan is a little more sheetmetal work, sandblasting, and then paint. I'm thinking about buying all new bearings and seals when reassembling. If anyone has information or suggestions for rebuilding and parts, please chime in!

3 pointsMy wife had a visitor today so I got a little break from nursing duties. Headlights are welded up and grinding done.
-
3 pointsIf you grind a couple of flats on it a pair of vice grips should do the trick. Put down a couple of layers of duct tape over the block to protect it from the grinder etc.
-
3 pointsAnything is better than the low quality choke and throttle reproduction stuff we have to settle with at this point. Nice work!
-
3 pointsYa there is quite a few good parts And yes i could of got them for free. But I gave the guy a couple bucks because there honestly is a good amount of parts and I would of felt guilty just taking it all.
-
3 pointsCrikey - should I ship the 854 I just got over there ? Sarge

3 points3k would be a decent price. At 5k you can occasionally find a diesel yanmar or Kubota. I love Wheel horse's, but at 5k I would get a Kubota and save up $500 to get a nice c-series Wheel hHorse. I think the kubota would be a more functional with a front loader, and it would retain value better.

3 pointsI hit Terry up with an Idea just asking if he could do it. 45 minutes later he was asking me for my address to send it to me! He is a great guy and I hope to meet him and his wife next year at the show.
-
3 pointsYou better get rid of them all. They're all trying to do you in.I'll come with my trailer and take them all to Pollack Pete's horse training camp.
-
2 pointsYeah, and heat it with a torch until near cherry - start turning it immediately before it cools off...
-
2 pointsAt least it didn't snap off flush, that would have been a little harder to remove.

2 pointsThanks Scott, was just curious on it. Years back I sent you the parking brake adjustment information when I did my 854 over. Sometimes I think maybe I should have left it in its old clothes. Good to see you posting. Glenn

2 pointsThanks Craig! I've been keeping an eye out for an anniversary model for a while, just needs 2 or 3 little things, but now I'm all set for the show already! Haha
-
2 pointsMy new order from Glen came today. I changed out some knobs. They added some details to the hood.

2 pointsI'll take a look at the axle keys and let you guys know. As far as background goes, my dad purchased it for very cheap probably 5-6 years ago. It sat in his shed for a year or two (probably because it would not move) and then he gave it to me for free. I have been meaning to look at it and get it working, but I kept putting it off. With my recent purchase of a 416-8, it really motivated me to get this horse running too. If you want any more info/pics, let me know.
-
2 pointsI do have them - I will try to have them listed by morning.

2 pointsHe is doing great now. In fact, he made the trip to Charlottesville for the auction with us. Hope we can talk him into going to the big show with us next year. Nothing better than spending time with your family, especially on a horse! Great way to finish a busy day. On another note, Becca's Dad passed last Sunday after lung surgery for cancer. Please keep her in your prayers. He was a very nice guy who worked hard all of his life and proudly served his country in the Navy.
-
2 pointsGlad you dad is doing better, bonding for the boys of the family.
-
2 pointsJust another point - I've seen several of that model Crapsman in the scrap yards on the mixed pile pretty much complete . In fact, one looked in a fair bit better shape than yours . Considering the cost of parts - it doesn't matter as stuff for both brands cost about the same - it's about how much more life you can expect from them as said . That's where the stamped frame lawn unit is going to lose the argument . Yeah , I know it's worth less , but that right there should tell you something . I have a JD LA145 w/48" deck and have considered getting rid of it as I don't have a lot of room here - but for now it runs and it's not worth enough money to justify getting rid of it . Won't be too long and the transaxle will give up , same as yours will and then I'll part it out . Point is , I use it to only take some of the load off my Horses for mowing - that duty is rough on anything , especially with a very rough yard . All things considered - they all mow the same quality since the JD has the stupid Edge series deck on it which is crap at best . Biggest reason I keep it is it was my Dad's and was inherited when he passed - otherwise that sucker would be long gone - no where near the quality of any of my Horses . There is no way I'd part with a Horse versus a Crapsman - that just doesn't compute... Sarge

2 pointsThanks lads. No party yet. Out for a meal with the tribe tonight. Daughters have been round with a cake.
-
2 pointsSorry for the confusion Jim. The theft took place at my home not at the show. I loaded my truck and trailer several days before the show started and the loaded rig was parked at home several days before the show. I just didn't notice the missing items until I was unloading at the show. I agree all show members I have encountered are great helpful people.

2 pointsThe blue wire at the oil pressure switch grounds the oil light when the pressure is low or 0. The black wire at the oil pressure switch grounds the hour meter when there is oil pressure. Two totally separate circuits controlled by two circuits in a single pressure switch. Garry
