My first Automatic in the stable, '76 C-120. Found her on a local CL ad, owner wanted to pretty it up someday but had inherited a JD & didn't have room for it. He said it ran great, needed new battery. Hooked a jumper box to it & she fired right up, no smoke, no ticks, no knocks. Tranny is strong & tight, 48 inch deck in great shape & 42 inch plow that looks like it was used once! $350.00 later she was on the trailer headed home. Here she is home next to the C-81 I got two weeks ago...

So we went to the Florida Flywheeler's show on the last day and I had planned on looking for a tiller to go behind my 418-A to use around the yard. Didn't really have any hope on finding one and really had NO plans on bringing back a tractor as I hadn't taken a trailer. Two rows in and I saw this homely looking thing sitting in front of a vendor's motorhome. Asked about it and the vendor's wife said " he bought it to use to build his small scale JD tractors". So I asked about some parts since he was going to strip it anyways and he said all he really wanted was the 3 point lift upper arm and hyd. cylinder. Said he would sell the rest. Started it up and it ran and moved. Found the nearest atm and gave him a deposit. While he removed his parts we walked around looking at the other stuff till noon and came back to get it. Disengaged the hydro and out to the truck we went. Loaded it up on a ramp they had and to the house we go. I never thought I would ever find a gt14 much less here in Florida. Plans are for a restore when I get my stuff together. Just glad I got it and saved it from what was going to be done to it. It already looked bad enough in it's current paint. Not sure of the year but I think it is a 1972. Tag is painted over but barely readable. I see a " 1 ? 532 7 " up top and then just barely with my eyes see below that "853". I will take it off and see if I can get a better idea from the backside of it. Overall it is all there and in good shape. Still has all the original tires on it yet they are trash. So my bucket list tractor begins.

Picked up # 99 420-lse brand new never started . Also the other one I have is 50 has 145 hours . Nos one is on left hand side .

I get to talking with friends about Wheel Horse tractors and I am surprised how my people are into collecting them. Even chatting with my dentist about my hobby, "Oh yes, my husband has a few of those Wheel Horse tractors. I think he can see them driving by on the road in the weeds" . Now I have friends telling me too, "Hey, did you see that Wheel Horse for sale down the road" ? I really enjoy this hobby.

... There's a "one horse club" ... .... Seriously , I didn't think it was possible ! I thought I read that in the fine print when I joined RS !

Someone told me that if you collect something long enough, that they will find their way to you. Several folks have stopped me and said, I saw a WH over at so and so's place you might want to check out. The upsetting one's are..." I saw a really nice WH the other day for sale, but can't remember where it was"!

When my wife and I bought my first the seller asked how many I owned. The wife asked, do people collect them? Now she knows the answer is YES!

Yesterday I picked up a 1990 312 Hydro. I like everything about it EXCEPT the itty-bitty front rims and tires. So my first task was to do the 8" rim and spindle upgrade. I made a trade with my neighbor....he got the 6" rims/tires and the hubcaps (I also don't like hubcaps) and in return I got the 8" rims/tires that matched the rears and the correct spindles. Definitly looks better! Next will be cast wheel weights and a plow bracket. Pics of course..... Mike...... Mike.....

A D200 followed me home from Missouri. It has a blown engine so I am pulling the 20hp Kohler out of my D180. Is it just the two bolts I can see to seperate the flywheel from the pump? I have everything else off, ready to pull. These bolts:

I was a member of the "One Horse Club" once...for about two weeks LOL I didn't know it was possible to stop at just one

It was unusually warm here if not sunny. Took advantage of almost 70 degree day in February and brought the tractors out to stretch and relax in the outdoors. It was overcast so no tractor saw its shadow. Hopefully that means spring will come sooner.

OH yeah...the story of Richie... and his of many colors. I like it.

Clean it up with some spray carb. cleaner, blow it out and repeat, blow it out again and then use some dry graphite lubricant spray.

Don't forget @oldredrider, @Shynon, @rgrottk, @swisstrac, @Brrly1, @ztnoo, @DTOM, @fast88pu, @scotty, @BigRedGrizzly, @GT14 etc. Just too many other to list off. Our friends across the pond posted some of the most helpful threads which I located along my path. See @meadowfield and @Stigian posts. thats just a quick list off top of my head. I'm sure I have neglected listing or noting someone. Offense is not intended. Otherwise I just happen to be the most chatty and am tinkering with them a lot lately. I really like what your starting with. Those rear fenders look less abused than I often see and the original type knobs all seem to be there. Definitely a strong candidate for refresh or total restore. There is a fella forum member who has not yet become a site vendor on the square to my knowledge that is selling reproduction 3 point assembly parts on the auction site should you decide to go that route. He is selling everything but the cylinder and control valve. Glad to to see another GT14 owner join the fold.

Maybe I need to load up a few of my horses onto my trailer and take some rearview mirror shots since I haven't been rustling any horses for almost 2 months!

You may be able to get some of them out using left handed drill bits

A progress report form this weekend. I'm waiting for some tranny parts so did some chassis work this week end. Below is a pic of the ugly hood hinges that a PO made. At least I have to believe that these were home made, I'd like to think that these are not factory. My new hinges have a little more style. In order to use the existing holes I had to make one a stud on each of my new pieces. I did this by drilling and tapping a hole in my new plate. Then I threaded a bolt in to the hole, cut the head off of it and welded it in place. The two remaining holes i decided to tap so I would not require a nut on the inside. While doing this I busted off a 1/4 x 20 tap. I got lucky and was able to remove it by catching one edge with a chisel and tapped it around with a hammer. For any one that has broke off a tap, this was a victory all it's own. Here's the icing. I didn't have another tap so I ground the end of the broken tap flat and was able to finish tapping the hole with it. Skill / dumb luck? Either way I was extremely happy. Any way a pic of my new hinges. Also took some scrap 1/2" round stock and turned a couple hinge pins. I know the clips are at different locations, I had to do that to compensate for reinforcing the engine mount plate. I also removed all of the unwanted/wrong items from the rear end. I'm not sure they ever made it work but a PO had replaced the original rear axle with a live axle set up, so pretty much every thing had to go. A pic of what I started with. After a lot of cutting and grinding, I got every thing stripped off except for one shaft. That will have to go too. I removed the last shaft and cross bar that was not supposed to be there. A PO had also cut some metal away, so this had to be replaced. The chain had wore into a reinforcement plate for a bearing towards the top of the chassis. Also there was damage to the axle hole from when some one removed the original axle. The bearing plate was my biggest concern, I had to be able to press a 1 3/8" o.d. bearing into this hole. After a couple mistakes, I got it right and had a good fit. Then I made some plates to repair the axle holes. Hope to post more progress next week.

It turned out to be better than expected. I wasn't too concerned about it not running since the old guy said it did, but we sprayed a shot of ether into the carb and it started for a bit. I don't plan on doing anything to this for a long time if even at all. The thing I liked is all the paperwork that came with it. I am very satisfied with this tractor and told the owner as much. You may not know this, but it's a felony for horse rustling in Missouri, and is still punishable by hanging, especially if you crossed state lines. So to avoid the death penalty, you need to bring it back to Missouri and drop it off at my house. I won't charge you anything, and you will avoid the severe hanging penalty. Seriously, that's a nice score.

Starting off with the basic horse I bought from my neighbor for $145. The 37" deck was beyond repair but I have a Deere I mow with so I didn't need that. I just needed a wood/dirt hauler and snow machine. I'd rather have an 8 speed than automatic so I decided to upgrade the 308 rather than buying a bigger 400 or 520. Another reason for the repower. I've always been partial to Briggs motors, so I thought why not drop one of the smoothest running and reliable engines I know of in there. A 42ci 18hp opposed Twin. Finally found one on eBay last fall. After tearing it apart it turned out to be too far gone to restore but it was off a wheel horse, I'm guessing a work horse. So it gave me all the tins, pto, and engine mount I needed. Then a friend of mine found a nearly identical twin off a craftsman that he gave me. So between the two I can make one. And so it began... What I started with Started off repainting the wheels, new rubber, and wheel weights. Carlisle turf II front and tru power lugs in back. I don't have a torch so you'll have to excuse the crude angle grinder cuts. 1" bolt with barbell weights. 55lbs of weight and 15 for the bracket each side.

both my fuel pumps on my k181 and k301 leaking gas decided to rebuild them. found a place here on RS "then and now automotive" great people there. ordered 2 diaphragm kits and had them here in Ohio in 2 days awesome service. on the k181 it has a vacuum pulse pump some old timer told me check for the 2 halves they may be warped .anyone try to use file to true them up? it has been 30 yrs since I had one apart. my grandmas 856 quit running once (back in the 80's) and it was the pump just went over to the WH dealer at that time I think 15 bucks and they had them in stock well that is no longer the case anymore!! I did visit the old local WH dealer and they are now putting plastic pumps on he told me 100 bucks for a new pump . I have 65 with shipping on these 2 kits and it will be original yet

Oh the interest is there! No worries. I know on threads like these, the long term projects, people sit back and watch. Especially since we have never gotten a big picture idea here, all the updates are just little parts and pieces. I think most people are just lying in wait of the reveal... Or a least a bit more of a "zoom out" so to speak. I know I religiously check in, but I have not much to say until i get an idea of what is all going on here! But either way, I am looking forward to what is to come! Just as a last note, replies aren't always what shows the interest level, make sure to check out your view count...
