...was actually just a small get together over at Stevebo's mancave today. Shootin' the BS, wrenching on some tractors, and scoping out his collection of NOS 420 LSE parts... guaranteed, you'll always have a good time when sitting around the fire, and visiting at the ol' Ponderosa.

It really was a great year, when you go back and look at all the pictures. Unbelievable!! I think I can find quite a few moments from this year...and as always the good times I had with all my old and new friends through the year. One high light that really stands out...staying up half the night (after the drive that day to the Penn Show) with Aldon shooting the breeze and finishing off a bottle of Jack. Excellent start to a great show. Some of the group at the Mentone spring Swap... The day Lane dropped off 4 transmissions and the next 3 months repuilding those, plus 2 more and doing the "so you want to save that 3 piece transmission" thread with RacinBob and others. Jim's plow day was a great day this last year. Golfing with the guys at LaSueur is always one of the top days of the year. And a special plus on this hole for me...I chipped into the hole from about 150'. Thanks to everyone for the Great Year.

2016 was a good year. Started out with 1 and ended the year with a stable of 7. After 3 restorations and many miles, this one has to be my favorite. Giving the 1056 and C-160 to my son and son-in-law at Thanksgiving. Grandson picked his out already.... Wonder what 2017 will bring?

Welcome to the Forum! So glad you found us! I was excited to see that you are located only about three hours south of me. You look to be quite close in proximity to a good friend of mine from the forum @stevasaurus he is located in Elgin. I really enjoyed reading your post and how excited you are to work on your 856 and put it into service. Be careful though, these things are highly addictive in the best way possible.

I went to bed but slept with one eye open waiting for the wail of the sirens to drift in over the hills. and then the flashing lights in my windows.

And he briefly tried to get out of it at the last minute. Glad he did it! Steve is such a great guy and always makes one my top ten memory's of the show. From his first year winning of the raffle tractor to last year's "ride" and every year in between.

1-1-1975 "Popular Electronics" announced the invention of a person computer. Popular Electronics, January 1975, Volume 7 Number 1. Ziff Davis Publishing Company. Publisher: Edgar W. I have these John Deere weights that were originally for the 108, 111, 112L and 116 John Deere lawn tractors. They were bolted to the back hitch plate on those lawn tractors. They're 42 lbs each. I bought them as they can also be used as front slab weights for the JD round fender tractors as they have the same bolt pattern. I ended up mounting them on the front of my John Deere GX345 when I take it to a plow day. Anyways, I decided they would be good for front weights of a Wheel Horse. So I bought a scrap front tach-a-matic hitch off of ebay and welded a couple of unistruts that I had laying around and mounted it on the front of my 416-8. I have to see if the hitch can hold the 84 lbs, but I think it will. Excuse the green paint, I haven't had time to repaint the weights, and they're probably get painted black anyways to be more universal as they still will be mounted from time to time on the GX.

Thought it would be a neat idea to see some of the best picture or moments of your tractors in 2016. Let's see them. I have a couple 2016 was a big year for me got my first wheel horse was a raider 12, also my other big score was a rj35 and last but not least this one's is alittle hard for me to do but I went to indaina to get my first suburban from malvin and his daughter Kimberly talked to the gentleman for a hour or so shared great stories. But 2 days before xmas I got a email stating he has passed away from Kimberly. I reinsured her it is in great hands and will be going to shows and I will be sending picture to her regular. Glad to meet the man. Now let's see all of your awesome tractor pictures, moments, and story's of 2016!

Most of the guys started out the night with us out there Mike. I think that had a lot to do with us not wanting to call it a night. We were too wound up to sleep. What a nice time and what a nice way to start the Big Show.

We picked up our first Wheel Horse this week - Hooray! I haven't driven one since the mid 70's. We've been working to make it ours, removing later add-ons and modifications, heading to a more stock configuration. We just got the stock drive pulley and belt on and drove up and down the drive and court, smiling all the way. I was all set to install the blower, until the brains (Sally) reminded me it would not fit the shed until we get rid of the old mower. We are digging our new 856 and looking forward to a WH 2017!

Great topic Ryan--I would say that meeting you, @achto, @stevasaurus, and @WHX9, has been a highlight of my year. Pictorially speaking though... Started the year with Snow removal on "reD"! Here Judge is enjoying some seat time. A highlight of the year was purchasing Blackbeard from Todd for my youngest child Zac. Time spent wrenching with Caleb was awesome! Here he torques the head bolts on Blackbeard. Zach on Dad's Iron Horse! Met Dan and his awesome WH's at Symco this year. Zach and I on GhostRider at Symco before his new clothes. Hopefully Dan will post his classic pic of Zac and I plowing! GhostRider at My Uncle Bob's farm day with the new clothes! Berlin tractor show with Dan and Jim and some of their collection. The plow day at Jims was a blast as was time spent with our very own Stevasaurus (here on GhostRider) My sons loved driving some of Jims herd while there... Caleb tooling around! Judge plowing with GhostRider for the first time! @dtallon 's family was awesome to meet at Bluniers Plow day! These are are just a sampling of the great wheel horse times had by me and my family this year!

My friend Buzz, who has over 20 something Cub Cadets, most of them of the narrow frame era, and has 4 Power Kings, plus a Super A Farmall, told me about a Wheel Horse locally. He said it was under a tarp behind this guy's house. Buzz wasn't interested, as he was there to pick up yet another CC 104. But he told me about it, but I just wasn't interested enough to go look at it. But, as time goes on, I decided, why not. So Buzz went and got the guy's number for me and I call. Yesterday I went and look at it. I didn't take any money with me, nor my trailer so I wouldn't be tempted to make a hasty, on the spot, decision. It turned out to be a 1975 B-100 Automatic. It was in rough shape, missing the seat, which the guy claims he has. He said his dad bought it new in 1975 and he has all the manuals, which for me, is the turning point of me wanting it. He said he rebuilt it about 10 years ago, and put a 12 hp Kohler on it at that time. He said it last ran about 5 years ago, but he said it will start now (we'll see). Did I mentioned it was in rough shape? Surface rust, missing the headlight panel, rivets and screws where they shouldn't be, and a tool box bolted to the back of the fender deck. Tires are flat and look to be shot. I'm wondering if it will even roll and move. Many, many things wrong with it. I am not impressed at all. Did I mentioned it was in rough shape? But, price is good, at $50. To me, the real jewel are the manuals, all nicely tucked away in a binder, including a Kohler manual. Wife says buy it, but I'm just not impressed with the tractor itself. I probably will go get it, but except for the manuals, and maybe the engine (if it's good), there isn't much there for me to really get excited. Maybe more to follow later on this find. Or maybe I may talked myself out of it. It ain't going nowhere...If I don't buy it, it will probably rust away in the guy's back yard. Did I mentioned it was in rough shape?

Wow......nice pond !!!!!!!,,,,,,you guys could of been working on your 2017 mash pole sign,,,,,,,but this looks fun too!!!! today was very nice in Va,,,,60ish.........

Ok. I've got it all together now. Of course it's rained for two days so I can't test the plow. The rear cylinder has plenty of power on the lift stroke. With me standing (200lbs) on the plow it lifts easily. On down stroke it does not have enough power to lift the machine. Although without the plow, I can put a jack under the hitch and it will lift the machine. This is working as I had hoped. I intentionally used a small cylinder as to not have enough power to start finding weak links in the rest of the framework. I wasn't trying to build a tow truck. Thanks for your input fellas. When it dries up here, I'll get some video of it tearing up the yard. Mark.

Probably just the opposite - that you guys tell me, go for it. I don't know if I mentioned what shape it's in, though.........
  41. 3 points
You mention it's in rough shape a few times...are ya hopin the guys on this site would talk you out of it? No chance!! There has to be $50 in parts there. If the K301 isn't locked up, there's your money back and then some. Mike.....

Good to hear from others who live along the Great-Lakes snowbelt . Most folks don't know just how much snow these winds combined with warm lake waters can produce . Just south of me ( snowmobile heaven ) there's roughly two feet on the ground right now . Here's a pic or two from the storm in '14 ( Snowvember ) that dropped around seven feet in 4 days . That's my (lifted) Silverado in the 2nd pic .

Many of us collect all kinds of stuff and even spend all kinds of money for "signed" items. But how many of us have things in our lives that we not only collect but also love and admire and have the opportunity of having the person responsible for them sign that item? And no certificate of authenticity needed since we were there in person witnessing it, photographing it, and shaking the man's hand. Perhaps not priceless but certainly treasured.

    Use 16 x 7.50 x 8's on my '90 520-8. Turfs from Miller Tire.
  48. 2 points
I like my newer style turfs on the front of my 520(16x7.50-8) they have wider rims, and dad's 1450 CC also on FIL's 782(16x6.50-8) which seem to ride/steer better than the smooth ribs that was on the Cubs, (last pic should show the size difference) ,Jeff.

A B-100 Automatic is on my top list. It has enough h.p. and I like the location of the hydraulic lever. I moved the seat back on mine about 1 1/2". I took this picture last week. Sounds like a good deal too!
