While packing for my annual Pa deer hunting trip to western Pa, I got a call about a part off the C-105 that I listed on CL. He asked If I would ship, and when I asked for his address, I realized it was on my route to western Pa. on Sat., so we made the delivery arrangements. Much to my surprise when I arrived, the buyer was Red Square member Ken @kdeatrick. Ken is the owner and restorer of the GT -1142 that is the cover tractor on the 2017 WH calendar. Ken has indicated the GT will be at the Big Show, and I encourage everyone to see this amazing restoration. Thank you Ken, for this picture and the story of the GT. It was a pleasure meeting you on Sat. BTW, on my return trip on this rainy Tue. I took route 234 and took these pictures. And sadly, but a reminder to be safe out there........ we came upon this a few miles East of the Fair rounds.

Well my my new tires all showed up . The fronts are Rubbermaster brand 16x7.5-8 from Miller Tire $65 delivered, and the rears are ( Hi-Run 23x10.5-12 Grass Master 4PR SUO5 ) $85 Walmart to my door . All are 4 ply tires . The treads are identical , even to my OTR brand on my Kubota . The Rubbermaster look like they be a little larger than the original Dico's . So if that's the case I probably end up buying ( Hi-Run 16x6.5-8's Grass Master 4PR SUO5 ) which are $44 delivered free to Walmart store or free with any order over $50 . So as of right now $150 for tires but if you go with the smaller fronts $129 (pretty cheap either way) . Still thinking tubes "loaded" is my best bet . I typed the tire size and brand just as they're listed on Walmart's site because there is other Hi-Run tires listed but at a higher price . Also received my new key switch . Now to get all together ! Oh yeah I still need to pick out a seat .

By the serial and model number on the original engine it's real close to my 1200 1184 which this model number isn't too often seen and was used in the 55 to 56 crossover time from my research and collecting these serial numbers. Your serial number is 3729308 and my serial number is 3729339. Only difference I see is mine is a toggle kill switch like most all 56 and up RJ's but yours appear to have the larger hole for the brass push kill switch seen on all 55 models. Mine has the same frame, front wheels and tires, etc etc....hope this info is helpful to you! Clay

Ed, No confusion from what I read. It was good meeting you as well Saturday. The part is in on that Work Horse and it's ready to work at our cabin next season. Though I'll likely do some more work throughout the winter on that worker as well. I took the tractor back over to my mom's basement garage for the winter. I have just a little more deck work to do as it's just a hanging shell until I get acceptable caliber of parts installed on it for the shafts. It looks as good or better than it did when dad bought it back in May 1983.

With the exception of a two cylinder engine I have here every conceivable ignition type engine. It is my intention to try it in all of them. Only then will we know if and what it works on. Hopefully we will put to rest the search for the "holy tach". Stay tuned, it will be here by Friday.

11-30-2004 Jeopardy! contestant’s record winning streak ends On this day in 2004, after winning 74 straight games and more than $2.5 million–a record for U.S. game shows–Jeopardy! contestant Ken Jennings loses. Jennings’ extended winning streak gave the game show a huge ratings boost and turned the software engineer from Salt Lake City, Utah into a TV hero and household name, at least temporarily. Barbara Walters named him one of the 10 most fascinating people of the year (along with Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Republican operative Karl Rove and hotel heiress-socialite Paris Hilton, among others) and Jennings appeared on such shows as Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and even Sesame Street. Jennings, who was born in 1974, outside of Seattle, Washington, graduated from Brigham Young University in 2000, where he headed the school’s national quiz bowl team. Having grown up watching Jeopardy!, he made his first appearance on the show in June 2004. After a record-setting six-month run, Jennings lost on a show that aired November 30, 2004, when he was stumped by the answer: “Most of this firm’s 70,000 seasonal white-collar employees work only four months a year.” The correct response was the tax preparation company H&R Block. Propelled by his Jeopardy fame, Jennings went on to become a pitchman for various products and write several books.

The drive belt has been added to this page Drive belt 116332 (HB x 64.50" or 5/8" x 64.5") If you have the 79361 model get the correct parts lists determined by serial number as there subtle differences in them. The belt used is the same for all of them. Garry

Not saying they don't exist originally white but to this day I haven't seen an original 57 RJ35 with any color but black wheels and red seat.....I like the black wheels personally...

...well I've thought about it! It's a about three years since I created C4 and two since Bendy was nearly finished. It's about time I did my third conversion, so here's the build thread. This one is going to be a slow burner, so don't get too excited Here's the main bit... there's quite a bit of work in order to get to a rolling chassis on this one, here's a few more pics 1/2 thick plate steel - laser cut and $10 each. Much easier than using a cutting disc and my template for a wheel adapter. a quick spin in the lathe including wheel! Got another three to make and it's slow work on the lathe

Got to love those deals on Craigslist. I have bought and sold my share of stuff on their site and usually have had pretty good luck. Today I got a pair of Goodyear 26 x12-12 rawhide ags for 20.00. No plugs,no sidewall cracks and excellent beads. I have an extra set of 12 inch wheels I will mount them on then they will go on my 265. If i take possession of my dads workhorse , they could end up on there .

So my old floor-jack is getting tired. Doesn't like heavy weights and doesn't lift like it used to. Looking for any input on a good quality jack to replace it with. Would like to avoid the cheapie Harbor Freight stuff. Harbor Freight jacks look great but I doubt they will last. Is Craftsman stuff still quality or have their jacks all have "Made In China" stamped on the bottom? As well as lifting a few Wheel Horses I have a full size Dodge Ram pickup (heavy and tall) and my son has a new Subaru WRX (not as heavy but somewhat low). I would like a jack that would work with either vehicle. Thanks in advance! Mike....

Hey everyone, I just wanted to see if anyone knew what a 1056 would be worth? I'm looking at one with 100% of its original work clothes. Original paint, original motor, original tires. With a deck and a snow plow, running and driving real nice. What would this be worth? Thanks

Maybe a member near you will chime in a be willing to pick one up for you. Glenn also mentioned he would be attending a show in Indiana that's much closer to you and members from your area.

Well guys it in and I'm done. All the work I did has payed off. I haven't gotten the new Tach that is being sent but I did text the manufacturer and they said a new one was on the way and for me to keep the first tach with a ground bad inside. As soon as he said to keep it I started trying to take it apart. Well I got it opened up and it was the potentiometer shorted to the case as he said it was. I did try to force it in but ended up filing it to work . I reassembled it and it works great. The pictures will tell it better. First pic is the little pot giving all the problems. It was touching the inside of the case and shorting out the tach .

Don't be a stranger. You never know when someone here will have the perfect Horse for sale for you. And, you don't have to own one to visit and comment or offer you assistance to others. Good luck with your JD and I hope you find that they are as friendly and helpful as you found Redsquare to be.

Ryan, I think I would hang onto that bracket and leave it on the horse for now. If you are going to let young people ride that horse, you could stick a bolt in one of those holes and put some bar bell weights on there to help keep the front end down. I happen to have an old set you could have that would look like they belong there. I'm liking what Clay had to say about the stop buttons. I would look for another set of front rims, paint one set black and the other silver and switch them once in a while. Then you have two rj-35s in one. Think of it as a bi-polar RJ-35.

That is one nice looking horse Ken & glad to see you made the calendar! Wish I could make the BS next year to see it but I'm with Bob on the bleakness... Head lines should read ... a cold gloomy fog persists around the South Mountain Fairgrounds in the absence of RED! None here Ed... I have seen your work first hand!

If you decide to rebuild it, check out this thread.http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3068953#post3068953 I rebuilt the same jack this year and it needed a ram cup. I got it from a local hydraulics shop for around 13.00.I think I googled the sears jack number and found a tutorial on taking the jack out. It's pretty simple .

A word of caution on double set screws. The second or outside set screw needs to have the point ground off so it is flat. If it is not what happens is the point of the outside set screw enters the hex hole of the first set screw and flares the first screw so tight to the hub threads that you will never turn it to remove it. It's actually a weird size 5/8"wide x 64.5" long if you go with tractor supply I would go 5/8"x64" but try eBay or other online retailers and get the Toro/WH belt IMHO it'll last longer,Jeff.

Best degreaser I have found is any light mineral oil, WD-40, PB Blaster, any auto trand fluid, diesel will work and a scrub brush. It will soften up the greasy mess to the point that a garden hose wimm be as good as a power washer. If you ever had really dirty greasy hands and remember how hard it was to get it all off, tried every hand cleaner on the market with poor results. One day I sprayed some WD-40 on my hands and then washed them with just regular bar soap and my hands were very clean! That's what lead me to using light oils for degreaser from now on. It will make a mess were you do this and can cause a hole new thing to clean if your not carefull. I use a old drop cloth and hang it up to dry when done.

Hah! Yeah, the guy wasn't thrilled about the grease and oil going down the drain. It's possible he was the owner... Rank and file might not care too much. That is a big ride! I used to drive a Pontiac 5000 LE or The General LE, as I used to call it. Not nearly as big but I drove around with one of those red engine hoists in the trunk for a year because I was too lazy to take it out... and it fit so nicely in there... Together, we could've been a great team! I'll cherry pick the block out for ya with my cherry picker!

I just took my 857 to the car wash...the one where you get to use the spray wands....turn on the soap and about $2.50 in quarters. I stayed away from the dash and other electronics, but it did a nice job on the engine block, frame and transmission. It gets rid of most of it and makes what you have left more manageable.

Jeff, those Trac Gards I bought are Multi Mile brand ,I gave $80 for the pair total now they're $65 for a pair 7.50's then the tears for $155 so $220 total for all four really not a bad deal and they're 4 ply , now as for the seat I got mine from Northern Tool model V 818 high back basically same as my anniversary 520 O.E. but vinyl is softer on sale now $79+ S/H ,Jeff.

same axle as Project C4, from an MTD all wheel steer. Taken three years to acquire another one, they are not plentiful. The last one Diggerjames took for his 6x6. Propshaft from the rear will be the preferred method, just waiting for the right bits to show up on that auction site...

Will be a 1978 or 1979 model. Toro has the 1980 and 1981 named incorrectly as they are C-85 models. A good tractor service manual Garry

This is the jack I have. Looks like its still the same price! https://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/NLE7916420/NLE7916420 Edit: I also have a slightly lowered Subaru and need to put the front tires on 2x8's to get the jack underneath the front. I think that would be true of all the small floor jacks though.

The above has worked well for me! I fill the holes with Kroil oil a couple times a day for a few days. a nice bearing or pulley puller will most likely start moving it off. stubborn pulleys may need a little heat....but be careful if you want to reuse the seals. Just my 2 cents..

Yes it has the holes for the arm rest and it's 90% plus like the O.E. on my anniversary 520H and xi's, has extra mounting holes, softer more pliable vinyl covering, and drain holes,Jeff.

My favorite old photo is of my brother David and I in 1961 on our dad's first Wheel Horse tractor -a 1958 RJ ! And Thanks Neil for posting the old photos from the Humprey's Wheel Horse store in Greencastle, Indiana. I know Phil Humphrey and actaully went with him to the Portland, Indiana Tri-State Engine Association swap meet this past Fall. The are still in business as Humprey's Outdoor Power ( http://www.humphreysoutdoorpower.com/ ). I buy my Wheel Horse/Toro parts there that I can still get! They are celebrating there 50th Anninversary this year! This is another Vintage Photo from 1962 with my brother David, sisters Cindy and Connie and me on our dad's 1958 Wheel Horse Tractor! We later had a Covered Wagon we pulled with this horse but I can not find photos of that setup !
