It's been a long process, and we reviewed millions of applicants and have asked @JimD @Terry M to help us moderate on RedSquare. Congratulations to Jim and Terry and thank you for volunteering your time to help with the forum.

I got this one ready for the lighter snow... it's a C-175 8 speed, re-powered with a Magnum 12. She might not be pretty, but sure is tough! I was pushing dirt around for fun I have a C-175 hydro that I'm going to get ready with a snowblower next, don't think I want to use a blower without a hydraulic lift ;).

well brought home a Bolens H14XL it was cheap LOL........... the original 14hp Tecumseh was replaced with a oh 160 Tecumseh 16hp instead there some things that had to be slightly modded a bit the shaft on this engine 1 1/8" and the pto that I was given wouldn't work so my buddy had old 10hp kohler in the bone yard found a working pto and then the fun came had to make our own bushing out of brass so it wouldn't injure the oil seal so after drilling out and filing down we got it to work pretty good then the next problem was after we got the snowblower attachment on hydro lift wouldn't work without a spring assist so had to drill some holes and modify that a bit too and works pretty good but when you are riding around it will gradually leak down a bit then you have to pick it back up.......not really a big deal yet just wondering if there some sort of leakage going on some where...........but anyway here she is and well she won't win any beauty pagents LOL but is functional and runs excellent

If the angle handle hits. Flip it over and reverse it. It then clears.

You can get a 1" NPT tap and use that to put the threads in a bit farther. I have done it but used a shop vac whlle doing it and made sure exhaust valve was closed...then blew it with comressed air to make sure I got the chips If it just loosens up but isn't falling out try a lock nut like this (used on electrical conduit).

Wheel Horse drive belts need to be fabric covered. Some belts have raw rubber sides and are too aggressive for the clutch to work smoothly. Garry

I'm not sure why nobody made mention of a previous member. A gentleman came online here 2-3 years ago. Appears he had an agenda from the beiginning. He'd previously been in the automotive business. Owned what appeared to be a rather well equipped shop on his residential property. Well he gathered as much info as needed, from this very sight, and took off running. He traveled far and wide purchasing every huge lot of WH and Koehler equipment he could find, lots of NOS stuff to. From what I've seen on FB it appears that he has quite a full time business going. There's an insane amount of used tractors and implements. Claims to sell them all on his website, basically a RS knockoff, or via Craigslist. I haven't got a clue whether or not he's profitable. But he's still going strong. Now for the Debby Downer side of it. Guys like this come and go. Their business savvy is most likely their make or break. They tend to tick off a lot of hobbiests, which the majority of us are. By purchasing every tractor in the area w the intention of turning a profit they inadvertently drive up prices and make quality used equipment scarce. Theres a big difference between a business and a hobby. Whichever you choose I wish you the very best of luck!

Ryan--with that rear end, it will take the torture of plowing and snowblowing with ease! I'm really glad to have met you. You thank me now for helping hook you in this hobby, hopefully you'll be saying the same thing down the road. I swear to you, it is addictive for sure. However, you meet some great people in this hobby and the "side effects" are a smaller checking account unless you determine to do a little buying AND selling, and a great stable of horses that you don't have to brush, feed, and shovel behind everyday!!!! What's not to like! There are many hobbies that have detrimental associated issues. Other than mentioned, I can't think of much else in this one! Glad to have you on board for sure, with a gear head mindset like you have and a desire to learn, you were made for this! Steve--that thing is a beaut for sure!

Just so you know...the 1968 should have the aluminum differential end plates. The 1969 should have the steel differential end plates.

I have found OEM WH belts work better on manual trannies. I use aftermarket belts for hydros mower decks etc but not manuals.

I love the Raiders. I have a 10 that begs to be let outside to work. Make sure that you clean up under those mower belt guards and make sure the belt tensioner can move freely. Congrats on your first horse.

10-17-1973 OPEC enacts oil embargo The Arab-dominated Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) announces a decision to cut oil exports to the United States and other nations that provided military aid to Israel in the Yom Kippur War of October 1973. According to OPEC, exports were to be reduced by 5 percent every month until Israel evacuated the territories occupied in the Arab-Israeli war of 1967. In December, a full oil embargo was imposed against the United States and several other countries, prompting a serious energy crisis in the United States and other nations dependent on foreign oil. OPEC was founded in 1960 by Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, and Venezuela with the principle objective of raising the price of oil. Other Arab nations and Third World oil producers joined in the 1960s and early 1970s. For the first decade of its existence, OPEC had little impact on the price of oil, but by the early 1970s an increase in demand and the decline of U.S. oil production gave it more clout. In October 1973, OPEC ministers were meeting in Vienna when Egypt and Syria (non-OPEC nations) launched a joint attack on Israel. After initial losses in the so-called Yom Kippur War, Israel began beating back the Arab gains with the help of a U.S. airlift of arms and other military assistance from the Netherlands and Denmark. By October 17, the tide had turned decisively against Egypt and Syria, and OPEC decided to use oil price increases as a political weapon against Israel and its allies. Israel, as expected, refused to withdraw from the occupied territories, and the price of oil increased by 70 percent. At OPEC’s Tehran conference in December, oil prices were raised another 130 percent, and a total oil embargo was imposed on the United States, the Netherlands, and Denmark. Eventually, the price of oil quadrupled, causing a major energy crisis in the United States and Europe that included price gouging, gas shortages, and rationing. In March 1974, the embargo against the United States was lifted after U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger succeeded in negotiating a military disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel. Oil prices, however, remained considerably higher than their mid-1973 level. OPEC cut production several more times in the 1970s, and by 1980 the price of crude oil was 10 times what it had been in 1973. By the early 1980s, however, the influence of OPEC on world oil prices began to decline; Western nations were successfully exploiting alternate sources of energy such as coal and nuclear power, and large, new oil fields had been tapped in the United States and other non-OPEC oil-producing nations.

It is a 1958/9 RJ with a #5003 transmission. Even thought the trans seems locked, it can be cleaned and become workable. Don't try to free up the trans by pushing it, you could break teeth in the differential. Better to just open it up and clean and fix it. Price is up to you...it does look to be in good shape.

But like I have read on here before, I can't get the Tecky carb adjusted to my liking. I do have it running good on the high end. Seems to be complete with only the clutch safety wiring molested. Running good enough for now as I might redo it in the future. Have to think about that one. 1971 Sears Suburban

Notice a Charger 12 and it's serial has been added to this list of late production Raider 12 serials that used the 47147b spec number. Just an effort to determine when the change in engines was made. Further down one shows up with a starter/generator but maybe it was repowered. This service bulletin dated March 1968 lists both spec numbers Garry

Before you go buy a belt, try to clean your 3 pulleys with mineral spirits. Take off the belt guard and the belt. Clean off with spirits, maybe steel wool if any rust and clean again. You might also wipe your belt off with the spirits. One other thing, if you are starting out at a high idle, that jump would be normal.

Looks to be a late 68 Steve... 1-6231, magneto ignition. Yup he's got the 5060 10 pinion, same one I have apart on the bench now. Does look to be real clean doesn't it!?!?!? Can't wait to tie into it on Sunday! Putting a flash drive together for him with service manuals.

Randy, I better not let on yet, as I have been ranting and raving for a while now about wanting a 753. So if I tell her now, I still don't have one, then it may be the dog house (or the garage) for me.

Do not put grease on the shaft. If the needle bearing inside the PTO is dry, I usually get some high temp grease and force it between the rollers. The grease seal should keep the grease from escaping. The ball bearing that supports the stub shaft on the PTO bell is likely to be dry as well. Remove the large snap ring and tap out the stub shaft and bearing from the inside (it is a light press fit). Take the small snap ring off and the stub shaft will fall out. Carefully remove one of the seals on this bearing and repack with high temp grease. Reinstall the seal and reinstall the stub shaft and small snap ring. Lube the outside of this bearing with oil and the PTO where the bearing mounts with oil and tap the bearing in from the outside using a socket which matches the outer bearing race diameter. If you have a press, it is easier to keep the bearing square during the install, but with care you can do it with a 16-22 oz hammer. Takes a bit of practice.

So you got a new tractor and didn't have to trade for it! Now, do you tell the wife, or just start calling it your new 702? It totally bugs my wife for me to talk tractors with her. Randy

Ryan--that thing looks super clean. I too look forward to seeing pictures of that dude working. Talk about a multipurpose machine, that thing is gonna be fun to use. I also look forward to seeing you at shows and plow days in upcoming years. It was great meeting you at Jim's PD. Good luck getting it going and into service.

Nice score Ryan ... I paid about that for my first horse 30 years ago and that one is in much better shape! I will have a fuel pump ready to go for it plus an extra one for the shelf. We'll go through everything next weekend and get her ready for duty!

I like to put the tractor up on jackstands and run it with diesel fuel inside the gearbox for about fifteen minutes. Then do two flushes with cheap gear oil and then a fill with the good stuff. There is a casting ridge inside that does prevent all of the oil emptying so it needs to be tipped to the rear to empty completely. Also install a new rubber boot over the gear lever to prevent water from entering.

Most of us use diesel fuel or kerosene. Be sure to lift the front end of the tractor so that oil in the front of the transmission can get over the hump in the bottom. I put in about two quarts, then run it around the yard for a few minutes, let it sit a few more then drain as noted. Refill with 2 quarts of 90-140 API GL-5 gear oil, 80/90W gear oil or whatever is on sale at Walmart . Fill through either the dipstick tube (if you have one) or remove the shifter and fill through there. Using the plug on the left side of the transmission will leave you up to 10 oz. short.

After further researching, my 753 is in actuality a 702 based on a few things. First, the front axle is not a 753, then the frame is not a 753. The front wheels uses snap rings to hold the wheels on, while a 753 would have a washer and bolt. Then the lift lever quadrant isn't from a 753, but an earlier model (see picture below of my tractor). A 753 has a different lift lever quadrant which has the turn knob mechanism for setting the height. The parking brake and dash panel is the same from pictures I'm seeing on a 702, so therefore what I actually have is a 702. Oh well, I guess I need to start calling it a 702.

Not to be picayune, but the rubber 'grommet' is better referred to as a 'bushing'. Keyword ebay for 'wheelhorse bushing' and you'll find a pack of 5 for about $11. You'll also see a new fuel shut-off valve at similar sellers for only a few bux more. Amazon has these too....tons of 'em.

I'm not ready to put a car engine in a but...Any thing worth doing is worth over doing. This is not my tractor but this is what happens when "Do I need it? " turns into "I want it." Usable? Practicable? Maybe not. Cool as heck? I sure think so!

amen to that! One of the things about RS Ryan is we LOVE pics...some guys demand Them!!! Theses are blocks to lift the tractor up on one side when setting up the plow. My kinda kid as he's making them on work time!! Better double the height @PeacemakerJack's 12" punisher was cutting twice that depth!! You best stop by my house and get the black Chilton trailer.. best to be prepared when horse rustling...
