Well, I bought a super nice deck from Jason at the Big Show for Emory's suburban. He was wanting me to use it to mow our yard. After adjusting the belts it mowed great!!!! I did the mowing, but he wanted his picture made with it. A lot of our grass was toasted, but what grew had really grown and the suburban hardly broke a sweat!

Picked this suburban up at a local show. It had a different engine in it but the non running Kohler came with it. Points, coil, and condenser all changed and a carb rebuild and she's running pretty fair. I think it has the original muffler as it has a shower head look and sounds pretty hollow after lots of years of use. Fun to drive around on, but, I think I would want a bigger ride to spend any length of time on it! seams like original paint so its gonna stay the way it is....maybe blast off the excess white paint on the rims though!

I was approached by a fellow at our local tractor club show about two wheel horses he wanted to sell. I went down and found a 953 that is complete, but has the trans apart due to needing some differential work and a 72 CG 8. Neither is running, but I don't think they'll take a lot to get there. He says the hydro on th CG is locked up, but I wonder if it is the tow valve. I hadn't heard of a CG, but may see if it will run and sell it to fund the 953 resto. Check out that muffler on the 953. Anyway, I wanted to share the pics and my find, oh the price - $175 !

I found this creation at the Four Roses distillery while on the Kentucky Bourbon Tour this week. It brought back memories of John's cycle.

Tell Emory he looks great with "his" wheel horse. Won't be long before he is mowing. Glenn

Never posted here and hope i'm not breaking any rules but I wanted to let Rs members know that Tengers implement sales of willoughby Ohio's entire inventory is being auctioned off on July 30, there are a lot of tractors and new and used parts that would be a shame to see scrappers get. Google premier auction galleries and check upcoming auctions listing wheel horse is the first to come up. Again don't want to break any rules but I see a lot of nice WH stuff looking for good homes.

No problem. Occasionally dealer auctions like this come up, and have been posted about in the past. It's not like it's a private deal that would be infringed upon. Um... here Bob? or on another forum? I don't remember seeing anything about it... but regardless, it's posted here now. As for why it wasn't promoted here earlier? Blame the auctioneer. He could have joined here and promoted it. Looking at the pictures, clearly there's someone younger and "funny" involved with the little memes in the gallery. So, they're familiar with the internet. A good auctioneer nowadays would be promoting their own auctions on collector forums when selling something like vintage equipment. And don't get me started on the 10% buyers premium I see on that sale bill. Charging me to spend my money is bulls**t. The auctioneer is working for the seller...Sellers pay the commission, not me.

When you do the install stick the grommet in the tank first...then push in the shutoff valve. Don't assemble the valve and grommet and then try to shove it in the tank as one piece. Mike....

Maybe you should search for an oldie like I just bought last week. Got this 1950's small fridge from the original owner's son. I previously purchased a 1945 hotpoint fridge but needed wiring and trying to find a wiring diagram or anyone who is willing to work on it is like finding hens teeth. This one runs really quiet and turns water into ice if I turn it all the way up. She is just about right now in the low to mid 30's! It is in my barn/man cave with several adult beverages in there.

Bought all new appliances four years ago when we built the new house. All of them came from the same big box (the blue one) store and bought their extended service policy on all as a package. Have had the refrigerator ice maker serviced a half dozen times; finally working right! Clothes washer, dish washer and range have all had service calls too. Built in microwave and cloths dryer are the only ones that haven't required service (yet). Too many bells and whistles on them, the electronic gizmos are the culprits, better off to stick to basic no frills stuff.

7-27-1974 House begins impeachment of Nixon On this day in 1974, the House Judiciary Committee recommends that America’s 37th president, Richard M. Nixon, be impeached and removed from office. The impeachment proceedings resulted from a series of political scandals involving the Nixon administration that came to be collectively known as Watergate. The Watergate scandal first came to light following a break-in on June 17, 1972, at the Democratic Party’s national headquarters in the Watergate apartment-hotel complex in Washington, D.C. A group of men linked to the White House were later arrested and charged with the crime. Nixon denied any involvement with the break-in, but several of his staff members were eventually implicated in an illegal cover-up and forced to resign. Subsequent government investigations revealed “dirty tricks” political campaigning by the Committee to Re-Elect the President, along with a White House “enemies list.” In July 1973, one of Nixon’s former staff members revealed the existence of secretly taped conversations between the president and his aides. Nixon initially refused to release the tapes, on grounds of executive privilege and national security, but a judge later ordered the president to turn them over. The White House provided some but not all of the tapes, including one from which a portion of the conversation appeared to have been erased. In May 1974, the House Judiciary Committee began formal impeachment hearings against Nixon. On July 27 of that year, the first article of impeachment against the president was passed. Two more articles, for abuse of power and contempt of Congress, wereapproved on July 29 and 30.On August 5,Nixon complied witha U.S. Supreme Court ruling requiring thathe provide transcripts of the missing tapes, and the new evidence clearly implicated him in a cover up of the Watergate break-in. On August 8, Nixon announced his resignation, becoming the first president in U.S. history to voluntarily leave office. After departing the White House on August 9,Nixon was succeeded by Vice President Gerald Ford, who, in a controversial move, pardoned Nixon on September 8, 1974, making it impossible for the former president to be prosecuted for any crimes he might have committed while in office.

When your refrigerator quits refrigerating and the wife tells you about it at 4:30 am three minutes after you have climbed out of bed, not having had any coffee yet, or had time to brush the teeth ( more than 3 in my case...) let alone become fully awake and even somewhat alert. Upon further questioning this problem started approx. 20 hours earlier as the freezer wasn't making ice like it usually does and the fridge wasn't as cold as normal. Turning the dial to a colder setting did not help........................................ "Why didn't you tell me yesterday so I could have called a repair man" came out of my mouth and that's when......................... Well you know how angry women get when their refrigerator stops refrigerating. (Can't share the names I was called on this family friendly forum.) Repair man cleaned dirt from plugged condenser, used heat gun to melt ice from evap. core and said he would be back later in the day to check frost pattern on evap core. Diagnosis. Evap core has restriction, probably caused by compressor shrapnel from plugged dirty condenser. Refrigerator only 5 years old........ Tomorrow I'm going shopping for a new refrigerator with an angry wife since the repair man said he could not be sure a new evap. core would not get plugged up even if he installed an in-line filter and parts and labor would be about as much as a new refrigerator.............. Moral of the story is you know you've been bad when your 5 year old refrigerator dies and inconveniences your wife who thinks it's all your fault......

Well guys, I'm calling this my first true haul because I've never picked up this much at one time before. It's mainly all parts and some will probably be used for some projects in the future and some will be sold, but for how much there was and what the price was, I couldn't say no. So, I picked up a C-111, a 657, and a 704. The C-111 may actually be a runner. Not the original motor, but she has spark, and I sprayed some carb cleaner in the intake and got a backfire out the muffler, so she will probably run, I then put some gas in the tank and the bowl instantly flooded so it may need a carb cleaning at least. I did also notice that the right foot pan was slightly bent, along with the belt guard on the bottom, so I will have to straighten that out before I can drive it otherwise the belt will shred in seconds. The 657 has a 7hp Tecky from an Ariens snow blower on it. No Spark, but turns over, has compression, tires have seen better days, but frame and tranny seems to be relativley solid, may make something fun out of it if I get the itch! Now....the ugly child; the 704 has no hood, the tranny is frozen, and I don't really know what to do with her. She has a mower deck that may be saveable, but not too sure yet, and K241 on her, that is not seized, but has no compresion, with quite an odd carb, maybe some of you guys may know whats going on with it, but I have no clue about this style, any info would be appreciated. Oh, and it all also came with a 60" deck for a 520. It had previoulsy been restored or at least painted, and seems to maybe have never been on a tractor after being redone. No grass on the underside, really decent shape. Now I need a 520 with a swept front axle...... but all in all, for what i have into it, I feel like I made out well! It surely will keep me busy for a while.

I checked the play in the axle/spindle and found that I could slip a .005 feeler gauge in-between the two. So I ordered a selection brass shim material in .001, .0015, .002, .0025 .and 003 sizes. Should be able to wrap the spindle with one of those sizes and take away most of the slop. .

Ok, she is all back together and Running and Looking Great, No new paint Just a lot of Oil Buff and Wax, and a lot more Buffing, Still looking for the right seat for her Personality. I had to add this, the tires are the origanals and don't have a single crack, I've never seen tires in this great a shape. I believe she will come to the Meet and greet with me in Sept.

Hospital just purchased a $4000 ice machine for the kitchen. We had to wait 5 weeks for it to show up. They had to buy lots of ice. The guys installed it on Monday and it wouldn't work. I call an area factory authorized company for service. It's a 3 day wait and I have to provide a credit card # and Tax # in case it's not a man. defect. So I give them all that and I'm not happy. The thing just sits there filling up with water and then dumps it out over and over. I decide to completely power it down, let it sit 5 min. and start it back up. WAAA-LAAA! Today it had a full bin at 7:00 AM How hard is to wire up a 1945 Fridge. Power up the compressor 120v, fan(s) 120v thermostat in line to both of those. I bet the compressor in that baby looked like a 6 horse Tecky!

I've got an ethanol-free station about 20 miles from me, and the price is about $1.00 higher as well, but it has been well worth my time and money to use the stuff.
  27. 2 points
I found the ethanol free station in Russia. About a dollar per gallon higher and i certainly will buy some to test it out and will certainly use it for the last of the season with StaBil added to it After reading all of your suggestions, it looks advisable to examine the fuel shutoff valve first and then maybe the fuel pump second. That shutoff valve takes a sharp turn in a hurry and I did not see a filter present. I found a deal on an electro 12 and waiting for a call back that may or may not come..

There is a spring that provides the tension on the idler pulley. It is not adjustable. If the spring is there and not significantly deformed I would bet you have belt issue. Your drive pulley is held in place by a set screw and woodruff key, that set up is pretty much bullet proof (Unlike teh splines used on the D series ). if it fails I doubt it would work at all. Before you spring for a new belt if you have some belt dressing you might try applying it see if it makes it work better. Belts sometimes grab better when they are hot which maybe why your issue goes away after warm u[p.

1980 seemed to be change over year...some came with Sudstrands some with eatons If model ends in 0 or 1 Sundstrand (e.g.C120 or C121). Starting with 5 series could be with either one in 1980 later all eatons (e.g. C125)

Hi guys, I´m Mats. and I´m located in Sweden. Been using my C161 automatic for 20 years by now and I love that thing. Mower deck gave up on me a couple of years ago so she´s just been plowing a little bit of snow recently as I got one of them modern mowers after the deck broke down. Will post images soon as I just signed up here and it´s way after sunset now so I need some better light to shoot images. Stay well gang, Mats

I just got a new refrigerator after our 1998 Kenmore stopped cooling. Replaced it with a Frigidaire from a big box store. It has all the features my wife liked. Then after only 4 months it developed a few problems with the ice maker. So a call to Frigidaire revealed that they don't have anyone in the Baltimore area for warranty service. WHAT THE... Still dealing with that issue. So my advice to you is buy a major appliance from a company that has their own warranty service staff. You may pay more, but you will have the peace of mind knowing that if you need service you will be able to get it.

Try Pure-Gas.org, they list a lot more stations selling ethanol-free gas. I see Schafer Oil in Russia, an unmanned station selling 90 octane unbranded, about 30 minutes from you. There's also 95 Customs in Troy selling 110 and 116 octane Gulf, but those octane numbers seem excessive for lawn mowers and motorcycles. You can also try StarTron enzyme fuel treatment. I've been using it in all my small engines and my motorcycle for the last couple of years, and it seems to work. I just started my bike a couple of weeks ago after it had been sitting for about 10 months, with about half a tank of gas with StarTron in it. It would have started right up if I'd remembered to open the fuel valve. Once I did that, and then charged the battery because I ran it down trying to start the engine with no fuel, it did start right up and has been running well since then.

Vertical shaft B series. i think the vertical shafts catch a bad rap, but they catch it none-the-less. A fellow forum member refers to them as "Yuk!". I think WH was trying to meet a price point to compete and did the best they could with a step down line. No first hand experience but I'm guessing it's a first class LT (Lawn Tractor)! Maybe even a LT on steroids! But GT folks tend to hold their noses up so be warned and pay accordingly! But notice I did NOT say not to buy! It's still a WHEEL HORSE! And I'm sure that most grass blades would bend in terror! Just don't get in a pulling match with a WH GT. But you just might get that for $200 or so! Heck, the seat even looks good! If she starts, runs and mows TRY to find ANYTHING new to outperform it for less than $2000! But if you are hoping to get WH GT capability double check with others about what attachments fits it. I don't know, but others here WILL! My 2 cents anyway....

For those shopping for appliances just remember they sure a H are not made like they use to and you may have to take out a loan or sell one of the herd ( heaven forbid ) to pay for the D thing.
