First, thanks to who ever took and posted this pic, it's one of the best I have seen. So it's like this. As most of you know, I have advanced coronary issues. Next years show?? Yea, that would be a medical miracle. For the last 3 years, I have used this project, to basically stay alive. It kept me from just saying "screw it" and rolling over. Every day I had a reason to get up, a reason to live. Dad would be very proud of this piece, but, like me, he would have been even more impressed with the fellow collectors. A great bunch of people, unselfish to the max, and always eager to help and admire. I stopped twice on the way home and cried, I am so happy I did this, and was able to make the trip. I am very lucky and blessed to have met such a great bunch of people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for a wonderful experience. Bob

I would like to personally thank everyone for the help at the show ( list is to long to post ) . This was my first time to the show , what an experience . I can't thank you guys and gals enough for your hospitality and generosity ! This is one great group of people. I don't think I could have done it without you . If it was just for some shade , water, cup of ice , or just some advice . Can't forget Bob , with the help with the charger . It's great to see people come together and help each other out . I couldn't go anywhere without someone introducing themselves. It's nice to put names with faces. The heat and the long drive took a toll on my body, but I'm recovering . Let me just say the people of are the best ! This show has to be on your bucket list .

Thought I would post pics of all the great things I had to bring home from the show. Some things were pre purchased other bought at the show. Had a great time, met some really great people, but it went way too fast. I think I spent a total of 30 minutes sitting in my chair over the course of three days. Nice set of rear weights from Aldon , Denny Clarke brought me a tombstone weight and a seat cover, Squonk brought a steering wheel and hub caps, Mike Hower brought me a rusty tub cart, no I have no intentions of restoring it, Charlie brought me a 1045. Buckrancher repaired my shower cap muffler Thanks everyone can't wait to come back some day. Last picture is the mess in my front yard that I now need to put away.

Here's a few from Friday. buckrancher, joebob, nylyon, stevasaurus, varosd, & squonk discuss whatever is on their minds There was a virtual "sea of red" this year. More horses than I have seen since my first show in 2010. The kids drove tractors and had fun all day long, and were all well behaved... ...except maybe with the exception of this one... Denny Clark enjoyed his first trip to the big show, and we enjoyed having him here. Bruce Cable relaxing... Registration, raffle tickets, and tee-shirt lines were constant. As usual, Charlie always had some interesting stuff In the vendor areas there were more choices for parts and things Glenn Pettit and his treasure trove of Wheel Horse goodies... ACman tries his balancing skills on the teeter-totter... ...and nails it like a pro... Jeff Hodge models the RedSquare hard hat for the last time. I think it got passed on to Russ (saltywright)

I had a great time at the show and want to thank everyone. I met a bunch of great people. I took my son and grandson with me and made memories that I will cherish forever. Next year I will have to figure a larger hauling capacity so I don't have to pass up good deals to save space. Two mower decks a plow and plow frame a seat, hood, tiller idler and guard are all in here as well.

I would like to personally thank everyone who attended the WHCC show and especially those who took the Customs feature tractor theme to the extremes. Most people know my views; I appreciate the history (knowing that we wouldn't be where we are if not for where we have been) and have done several restorations myself. My true passion is building custom machines, taking what Wheel Horse gave us, and pushing the limits of what it can be or what "could have been". I was smiling all week seeing all of the creativity and vision of our members. Kudos to all of you for making the show a huge success, probably the biggest and best show so far. With all of the hot rod versions out there, we as the board of directors were a little concerned going in to this, but were very happy with the behavior of the kids (and the grown-ups) at keeping everyone safe. As for me personally, I'm hoping that we can have customs again someday. Though we don't usually repeat feature tractors, I feel that this is a "model" that is constantly evolving. Please feel free to post your thoughts. Have a great summer everyone!

I don't usually run out on sunday evening but this ad came up 3 min from my house for tires of course I bought them for a good deal But I couldn't pull out my money fast enough when he said he had a kohler for sale too, he said it doesn't have spark.... This is what I found a k141 with Tillotson updraft carburetor Score!

No new tractors for me, I just tried improving the one I took to the show... I did some shopping with Terry for all new decals and then a bunch of stuff from Dale including the hub caps. I was going to sell this tractor at the show but decided to take it back home with me...

Hello everyone, I believe this is my first post on this forum, I must say it's a pleasure to be among such fine folks who share great info and have a passion for old American iron. My mom has always enjoyed cutting the lawn and doing other yard work. When I was younger we had a Honda riding mower and she and I would jokingly fight over who got to cut the lawn that week. The Honda broke and my mom has been borrowing grandma's riding mower from down the street for several years now, which is a bit of a pain. I wanted to do something nice for her that was both practical and enjoyable. I decided an antique lawn tractor restoration was just the thing. I found this neglected Commando 800 on Craigslist, drove up to look at it and ended up hauling it home. She was pretty dilapidated . I have deemed the deck not salvageable, far too rusted for my ambition. Tore the old girl down with help from mom, she wanted to help and will probably appreciate the finished product more having put some elbow grease into it herself. The trans would only go into two gears, found that it was full of water and rusted inside. Tore it completely down (damn those hitch pins are hard to remove!) and installed all new bearings, detent balls, and other odds and ends. Tore the Kohler power plant apart and found that the cylinder wall and piston were scratched, probably due to the large amount of carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. Trans is back together and ready for primer! Bought a rebuild kit for the little Kohler, had it sandblasted and cleaned the inside out really well. I'm currently in the process of re-assembling it. Had pretty much all the other parts sandblasted, I just finished priming them this past Sunday, and now I think it's time for a little body work. It's slow going because I'm busy with work and a bunch of other projects, the fact that I'm really picky about every little detail doesn't speed the process up either. It's crunch time now because I'd like to have it done for a tractor show in mid-July. Here she is in her current state. She's getting new tires, decals (obviously), all new wiring, I'm adding headlights, etc.... After a lot of research I decided to go with Sherwin Williams Sher-kem paint in IH Red. My question for all of you more experienced restorers is should I assemble parts of it and then paint or paint everything and then assemble it? I don't want to paint everything and then scratch things while putting it together and have ugly unpainted bolts showing. I also don't like the idea of having just primer between some of the parts, I'd kinda like it to be all paint like it was from the factory. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Zack

Howard...can you imagine if John would have captured a picture of me sleeping in a lawn chair? Look what he did to Squonk. You should feel fortunate that John caught that picture with you. You, my friend, are an international Rock Star now...and you and I and Mike have John to thank. We need to pay a little more attention to John...just sayin'

It was our pleasure seeing you and your Wheel Horse rig at the Big Show. I am sure everyone admired your work of art. It is obvious that you put your heart and soul in this project. Looking forward to seeing you at the WHCC Show next year. Do take care.

Had a great time at the show and got to meet some super nice people. I was somewhat dissapointed that the show ended way too soon on Saturday. Nobody warned me that everone would be gone by 4 pm! Myself and a few other stragglers held out until Sunday AM but soon had to pack up and leave too! Oh well always next year. Nice not to be a BS rookie/newbie/virgin anymore! My wife Cindy and I have time off from work to do some motorcycle touring in the beautiful state of PA. We are just kind of winging it and and ended up in a nice campground in I don't know where but it sure is nice. Got a sweet little cabin over looking a pond and all the comforts (and more) of home. We figured on just staying in crap & naps but this is wayyyy better and cheaper than a trip to Cancun. Somewhere along the road to finding this delicious slice of heaven tho the bike decided it didn't want to be tied down anymore.I had chosen to load the horses in first and the bike in the rear to put more of the bikes weight over the axles. In my haste of loading I probably didn't do it right but I blamed it on the curvy mountain road....she didn't buy that but then I told her hey...I NEVER trailer bikes right @Shynon !?!?! Alas no major damage done to bike and trailer. ...just my ego which needed to be taken down a few notches anyway. Sorry ...no pics of the incident Horses may have found new pasture and the proprietor/people at the campground are tickled ... they are cute and way cooler than golf carts.....I got free run of the property! More to follow on the rest of the trip....

This thread reminds me of when I was a kid in school. After Christmas holiday, all the kids would discuss what they got. It now seems the Big Show is Christmas for "big kids"! Gotta love it! Yeah, I made out pretty good at the show too.

Well now I know why it is hard to find Wheel Horse tractors and parts south of Pa.,Shynon hauls a big A _ _ trailer down to the Big Show and tries to fill it up every year. Nice haul.

Nicely said John. BTW, I thought it was great. As far as that post that was removed, don't feel bad...I have either removed (the next day after thinking about it) or have had stuff removed that I thought was funny, but just not right on a family forum.

Howard, Steve, Mike and anyone else who reads my stupid posts. I want you guys to know that I NEVER have the intention to offend anyone. I realize my sense of humor isn't for everybody and sometimes it goes overboard but please never think it's an attack or anything ill willed towards you. Busting each others balls was a part of my growing up with 3 brothers and 2 step brothers plus the many neighborhood kids we hung around with. The best zingers were always held in high regard because they were FUNNY, not because they were hurtful or embarrassing. We could always laugh at ourselves but I suppose many people can't. It's kind of like when you were young boy and you picked on the girls you like. Well, you guys are the girls I like! I was recently censored in another post where I thought it was funny but obviously someone else didn't think so or at least thought it should be removed. It probably wasn't the proper place anyway! No one said anything or PM'd me about it but that's something on my mind. ANYONE can just send me a PM if you feel something I post is not right or please just block me. Trust me, there are or will be no hard feelings! I posted this quote before but here it is again. --- "Anyone who takes himself too seriously always runs the risk of looking ridiculous; anyone who can consistently laugh at himself does not."

The show this year was certainly one of the best! It's no secret that the custom stuff is my blood as well but IMO the official feature tractor should always be a traditional model and changing it every year gives those owners the opportunity to "feature" their particular tractor. There are so many more traditional tractor owners than custom builders and surely they get just as excited when the model they own is chosen for the featured tractor. The customs will always have their place at the show. People will always bring their creations just as they will always bring their restored tractors and daily drivers no matter what the feature tractor is. BUT... maybe someday we could have an unofficial co-feature custom gathering.

Ditto doing the customs again(at some point)... was hands down, one of the best shows(so far).

I bought a new set of Ag tires already tubed and mounted on a set of wheels for the 701 I'm working on. I'm going to try posting a pic of them from the smart phone. If that works I'll post a pic of the C-121 that I bought at the show but have to pick up at Old Red Rider's house because I didn't have enough room to bring it back from the big show. Ok, well it looks like I had success with that post so here is the only picture I have of the C-121. BTW, thank you Paul for taking it back to your house for safe keeping!

Bob, the guys above are right on. I sat there all weekend watching you ride the BEST CUSTOM there around all weekend. I had no idea of the things you are talking about going on. I was thinking you might be riding people around all weekend, and I was entertaining the thought that I would be one that got to see the show from your trailer. What you built is a HUGE work of art...and my prayers are with you. My wife and I enjoyed seeing you go by all weekend.

Hey Everyone! I know I talked with quite a few of you at the big show regarding this tractor and I want to share it with you that weren't there to see it! I am so happy to have this thing it's crazy! This 753 has the HY-2 Hydraulics on it and I have had people tell me that there is no way the 753 came original with the HY-2 and it should be a HY-3 and I have a mismatch of parts....well if that the case I would argue that the dealer that sold this tractor did the mismatching because the patina of the hydraulics matches the rest of the tractor...anyway. I have seen a few 753's with the HY-2. It also has what is left of HL-22 lights. I can see a place on the right side of the tractor where the light switch bracket was bolted. Don't know if I want to try and locate HL-22 lights or weld up the holes and forget it. It has the 702 switch bracket on it that i will probably eliminate and put the push button and switch where they are supposed to go on the left side of the tractor. The tractor runs but not great...needs a little electrical work done and it smokes on start up pretty good. I found a shield at the show for the hydraulic unit and got an original air cleaner assembly for it as well. Initially i want to get this thing running good and mow some grass with it. I know the deck isn't original but when I restore it I will probably get rid of the deck anyway. I have never had a roundhood like this as I have only had small RJ's and Suburbans. Look it over and let me know if there is anything else I'm missing! I'm excited about this restoration! Mike

Okay. Here are several pictures taken with my camera. Please feel free to add your group picture here as well. As soon as I decide which one best shows as many faces as possible, I will add numbers to the pictures so we can start identifying you. Feel free to chime in with which picture you think best shows all the faces. Thanks Thanks to everyone for your help so far. Now the rest is up to you. I have taken some of Steve's pics and some of mine to find the ones with the most faces showing. Here they are. There are five pictures and each one is numbered. There is some overlap, but that cant be helped. I will start by identifying myself and several others. Please add to this thread with your names and corresponding number. I will edit them into this post, then when we are all done, the thread will be cleaned up and only this post will remain. 1. C-series Don, Don Oliver 2. Bob, Racinbob 3. Thanks to the WHCC Show for featuring custom Wheel Horse tractors this year. There was a great turnout of customs at the Big Show. I was not able to get my 1961 hot rod tractor finished and ready for this show. However, I did take several photos of these custom Wheel Horses on Saturday morning. Enjoy! My Wildfire puller... Gorgeous 1656... Liking the hitch on the 1656... This is a Wheel Horse "M-80" motorcycle made almost entirely out of 1960's Wheel Horse tractor parts...

I restrained myself from buying too much this year. I had a list of things I wanted to find and here is one of them. A patina red seat for my RJ35. It came with a patina white one but I wanted the red. It came off a parts 35 I bought and then parted out to help complete 4 other projects for other members here. I have a few more items and as I get pics I will add them here. The last pic is with the white seat and the others with the red. I picked up this nice light set for the 854 and installed it. I used an old boat light for the tail light but think it works good.

I knew that I was going to bring home the front end loader because that had been prearranged, but I did have a couple of other things in mind that I wanted. I wanted to find reinforced front spindles for the 416-H to handle the additional weight of the loader, but was quickly schooled about the benefits of a 520-H swept-forward front axles with 1" reinforced spindles. So, I quickly changed my search. After looking around a bit I found the axle and spindles for $110.00, then was directed to a complete front end of a 520-H which included the lower steering shaft, swept axle, spindles, heavy duty tie-rods, wheels with 1" hubs, and tires, all for $15.00 more than just the axle/spindles. Then I went looking for a replacement aluminum dash for a B-100 8-speed. This summer I am refreshing my original Wheel Horse purchase from 1993, and the squirrels have been having a party on my dash, gnawing away at the aluminum to grind down their teeth. I found a dash housing, and it was attached to a steering shaft with a decent steering wheel, a very nice plastic dash panel, fuel tank support, and choke and throttle cables, and ignition switch, all for less than the price of a good dash housing. When people tell you that this show is full of great deals, believe them.

I didn't get to see your tractor in person but from the pics I've seen it is most impressive. One beautiful rig!! No sense letting your talents and visions stop there. Keep looking forward, find your next project and tackle it with the passion you had on this tractor. If a project keeps you going, guess it's time for the next one.
