Took Grandpa's tractor out of the shed for some sunlight after 2 years of sitting, nothing rare about this one other than it was Grandpa's, was a worker now a looker. Just thought I'd share some pics.

Mother Mature created a little work for the horses on Tuesday. She broke one of the three main limbs off my 50 year old chestnut tree. Luckily it was not over the house, but the other two were and they also looked weak so I took all of them down. I left the stump because it supports my hammock. I used the F-150 to pull the limbs away from the house. Then I needed a brush hauler, a wood hauler, a sweeper and a splitter mover, The poor Finches watched in bewilderment as the tree that held their feeders disappeared. Before I I took a break for a cold drink I temporarily hung the feeder on the hammock chain, they began feeding right away. Now I need to come up with a way to hang the feeders. I'm thinking an iron wagon wheel on top of the stump with the feeders hanging from the spokes.

After being pretty much absent for some time, I'm back. I'm on the look out for another Wheel Horse, preferably the round hooded kind, but will also entertain any with a Kohler. I haven't forgotten the brand nor this site, but health issues forced me in another direction. As some may know, I'm pretty much a John Deere guy and have a small herd of them now, but I had several Wheel Horses in the past, plus a few Cub Cadets. But I need another WH. So, I have been searching this site and Craig's List for a decent one in the St. Louis area, no projects, and of course, no big price tag. I think I have the wife on board from the financial front as long as I keep that price tag down. Anyways, I been lurking on here for a few days now. I miss the friends I found here, Karl, Sparky, Jason, TT, and a few others. I know some aren't on the site no more, but at least that bunch still is. Here were some of my Wheel Horse herd from a few years back.

Guess who cut the grass today? Who, did you say me? On my WheelHorse? You bet I did, OMG how long have I waited for this day. A friend of mine called in today to hopefully give me good news an get old Horse46 running properly. So as you can see all is good in my world right now.

I have a decent wheel horse 953. It has a well used 10hp Kohler that uses oil and vibrates pretty bad. I picked up a 10 hp Chinese diesel on Craigslist and was considering swapping it in, I put some hours on the engine and it seems fine. I just don't really want to ruin a decent 953. From what I understand they are pretty rare but I just wanted your opinion on if I should do it? I might have to cut the hood a little or modify my air intake. The tractor is definitely not the nicest one out there. Let me know what you guy think? Thanks

Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living, green & yellow thingys & trailers with cool tie down boxes. When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my Coach’s hired servants have horses to spare, and here I am with no horses! I will set out and go back to my Red Square and say to him Coach, I have sinned against the Ponds and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your T-Mo; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his Red Square. But the Coach said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best C series and put him on it. Bring the fattened 520 and gas it up. Let’s have a plow day and celebrate. For this T-Mo of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate....Luke 15 (well sort of) Back to

The "Honey Moon Suite " should be available! Or if you still want to camp, Gander Mountain next door has all kinds of room in the store. You could do a working camp display.

Hey Guys, I apologize for not being part of the action so far this year. Nothing wrong, just working too much and getting stuff done at my house so I can take some vacation this Summer and also attend the Big Show. So Yes I am planning to attend again this year. OK, I need the right side (or drive side) belt guard for my WH 701. I also need some rear axle seals for it too. I'll be there on Thursday. I hope someone can help me with this. I might not be able to get back to Red Square till Monday, so if one of you sends me a PM or replies to this post please don't be upset with me if you don't hear back from me till Monday. I really look forward to seeing all the good friends I have made here and at the previous Big Shows Van

Gentleman, so many if not most of us in this forum, are addicted and caught up in this "Wheel horse thing". We spend countless hours working on our tractors. We spend countless hours reading and researching about them here trying to acquire all possible knowledge. We spend so much money on these things that if our wives knew how much , many of us would no longer be alive, or worst yet married because of it. Now, this little Frankenstein shows up , and in my opinion creates certain questions that we though were already answered for many years. It also creates in my opinion doubts about something we though we knew to be true . Is that type of transmission really an original wheel horse transmission. Was the wheel horse transmission inspired by this one or others like it? Call me crazy but this now is like someone questioning if your kid is really yours. It never is going to leave your mind unless you do a DNA test. Is it a prototype? What if so is it doing over there? I think we really need to get this thing to the Dynolab and test its paternity. So,now that you have an idea on my degree of insanity, Can we get this thing moving? We have someone close already willing to do the legwork it seems, all we need is to commit to it. I will throw the first $100.00 into the pot.

I use one of those attached to a 2in receiver hitch on one of my tractors or the truck. It works well and I've done 10+ tires with it now without issue.

6-10-1935 Alcoholics Anonymous founded In New York City, two recovering alcoholics, one a New York broker and the other an Ohio physician, found Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.), a 12-step rehabilitation program that eventually helps countless people cope with alcoholism. Based on psychological techniques that have long been used in suppressing dangerous personality traits, members of the strictly anonymous organization control their addictions through guided group discussion and confession, reliance on a “higher power,” and a gradual return to sobriety. The organization functions through local groups that have no formal rules besides anonymity, no officers, and no dues. Anyone with a drinking problem qualifies for membership. Today, there are more than 80,000 local groups in the United States, with an estimated membership of almost two million people. Other addiction support groups patterned on A.A. include Narcotics Anonymous and Gamblers Anonymous. On a personal note, due to A.A. and the grace of God I have enjoyed over thirty years of total sobriety.

That's a nice looking C195. Good luck with her. I had a chance to get one a while back but for some stupid reason I decided not to.

Wire brush it by hand, then a medium corse sanding followed by a fine grit sanding. Then I blow it off with high pressure air and wipe the parts down with mineral spirits on a rag, then when it dries , I wipe it with a clean dry cloth, then I prime and then paint. Usually works well for me.

Got the dash layout cut. Made my throttle and choke levers out of D-160 assemblies. I had to flip them around and trim off some of the bracket to get them to move in the right direction. I am going with an oil pressure gauge and voltmeter. I have a 3-1/2" teleflex marine tachometer in a pedestal that I am mounting on the column. I still have to finish the framework for the fenders, fab up a floor shifter, and make the seat mount. Little by little....

Just the metal pan seat for now, a true rigid but I really like that seat cover on little Bo's hot rod tractor. Something like that would be a perfect fit, wonder if I can get him to trade for it? LoL Thanks Ken, but I still have some of that black you gave me before but no way to sow it up to make a cover. Guess it could be done by hand but doubt I'll have the time. ANYBODY at the show who wants to take it for a ride is more than welcome to do it. All you need to do is ask. The more the merrier because that's what it's built for, pure enjoyment. No need to worry about breaking anything either, I know a guy who can fix it cheap! Plus there will be a whole fairgrounds full of replacement parts.

Red Square is the greatest forum of all time. I dug in here about a year ago after acquiring my 2nd and I've learned a tremendous amount about them. Got some great advice, help, tips and parts from great members here. I've really enjoyed the journey so far! Looking forward to learning more! You should get yourself a copy of Straight From The Horses Mouth, if you haven't gotten one yet.

Yogi used to say it about that insurance, "it's what you need unless you have it, then you don't need it". Do we really NEED a garage full of horses? Probably not, but they're nice to have when you do.

Thanks, Jason. It's good to be back in the swing of things here. This just came up for sale on CL, about 40 or so miles from me. $350, no deck, good engine and transmission from the seller's description. I sent him an email (no phone contact info in the ad).

One of these tire machines works great for the small tractor tires we use. Get a 20 or 30 % coupon. Plus wait until it's on sale and get it even cheaper. Well worth the small investment if you do just a couple of tires per year. The mini type works better for the smaller front tires http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result?q=tire+machine I used to use a 2x4 with the tire flat on the ground and leveraged a pipe into the tow hitch on my van. It was a pain in the A-- but it worked..

The best advice I can give is don't make any mods that can't be easily reversed and of course no hacking. (not that you would..) I think a 953 would be a real cool tractor with a diesel in it. Almost like it should have had one from the get go.

And may be not brake down so it will not clog up your carb. I have seen this way to many times. Just my

It's your ride, do what you'd like with it! I bet you won't regret the powerplant swap, and if you're worried about it just build a different intake vs chopping the hood. If you ever come across another 10 horse or get the time to rebuild your original you can always keep it under the bench to swap back... But if you have the new diesel, sounds like your mind is mostly made up!

I used to use it a little but grandpa passed away 2 years ago and now she's In retirement as a show only tractor still need to get an in memory decal for the hood

Worth is a ?? but they sell from $300 to $600 during the 8 or 9 years I have been watching the prices on them.

The old Wheel Horses and the people that designed and built them were the cornerstones of America. And the dealers were the mortar between the bricks. They built the machines to work daily and last for decades without much incident.
