What you have contracted is Wheel Horseious Addictitus. There is no cure, however it is treatable. To relieve symptoms just occasionally buy yourself another Wheel Horse and add it to your collection. I tried to resist it and this is what happened to me..

I think I have the Wheel Horse Bug!!!!

Park the tractor near a really big tree. Cut a 2 x 4 just a little longer that the distance from the tree to the steering wheel (where the roll pin is) and "wedge" it in. Drive the pin from the opposite side. The roll pin will drive into the 2 x 4 end. If you move the tree, try a bigger one!

My Miss mowed with an RD deck pulling a sweeper. Lawns looked great when I got home from work. Then I realized one Horse for each of us, makes sense! Worked 'till two sons needed to "drive" pulling a cart or plowing snow or pushing earth. Then the Ms. wanted a big garden. Another Stallion to turn the earth. All are gear drives until the Grandsons get longer legs. So? Had to pick up a couple hydros, they're learning! Had to help the boys naturally! Neighbor pulled me aside, "I don't want to get involved but when you're not home the boys are racing your tractors up 'n down the road". Looking surprised I replied, "So?" Turned and walked off.

Will there be many better than good condition WH for sale at the big show? Looking to buy my first tractor period. Grass and snow plow will be used year round . I live 3 1/2 hours away . Do you guys think there will be a lot to choose from ? 1970s 80s 90s Thanks Dan a new member, future WH owner

Eleven years ago I brought home my first 953. I had owned the 1055 pictured pulling the 953 on the trailer for a couple of months when I decided I NEEDED another . I am not addicted, I just love the little Red Rascals, all ten of them!

Well I can tell her they don't take up as much room as a farm tractor would..... lol

New update. 8 hours and $8.00 belt is still intact. Not one crack or any signs of stress. I hope I don't jinx it by celebrating early but none of the other belts survived 8 hours. Been using deck without guards so I can take close looks at spindles as it cuts, and this thing cannot run any smoother or true. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Busy day today. Took off engine tins and did some cleaning out and investigating 88 520H oil leaks. Oil sending switch leaking. Bought a NAPA replacement switch for $12 and 4 cans of brake cleaner. Got a good start on the then it was afternoon and time for other chores.......

After searching for the easiest/best way to fill my tires, I combined a few and added something of my own. Perhaps someone has already done this.... I figured it's just like basic plumbing, fluid can't go in if air can't escape. The most major complaint I read seemed to be the agonizing time it took to fill the tires waiting for the air to bubble past the incoming fluid. So what I did was when I removed the old tires I drilled and extra hole in the rim for a second valve stem, one to add fluid and the second to vent the air. I did this on 2 tractors, on one I put the second valve stem right beside the first and the other I put it 180 opposite, I liked the one directly beside best but they both did the job just fine. I used a basic fluid transfer pump and RV antifreeze. I slipped on side of the pump's tubing OVER the valve stem and pumped away, gallon after gallon, until the fluid came out of the "vent" valve stem, replaced both cores and called it a day.

To be precise it's a G&L Fraser 70 A-D5-T . No CNC controls but used to have digital readout they never bothered to replace,so I work of the machine dial and indicator...... Table is 5' X 10', plenty of room for my Wheel Horse 875. Guys tell me I need rollerskates, somedays trying to Weld and run Boring Mill the same time. This is some of the welding I do.

I've reported this before, but since you asked the question, I'll repeat it.... My 1974 C-120 w/ a HH120 Techy that I bought in 2000 was my first WH. I used it for all my mowing and snow blowing for over 10 years, and it never failed to start and run perfectly. I have never done anything to this engine except routine maintenance and it still runs perfect today.

Most folks don't care to admit it, but we all know they are both good engines.

Now that is quite literally shade tree engineering, good idea!

I took tuneup's advise and rewired it. I bought a John Deer spec regulator from Amazon.com. Got rid of all the butt splices and such. Now it charges nicely and runs better which I can only attribute to the higher voltage. While in there I added a choke cable.

Well after cutting the grass the ol' 520 sitting in the shade relaxing !!

I'm a little late to the party also.. Yes, back in the day I was a die hard Cub Cadet man. There used to be a bunch of Cub guys locally and we all did the show thing and meet and greets just like we do here. Most of the guys either lost interest or moved away though I do bump into a few from the old gang from time to time at a show. I decided to give Wheel Horse a try about ten yrs. ago and the rest is history! This is my son Cole back 12 yrs. ago. Second pic is Cole at last yrs. show..

Check axle keys in hubs and drive pulley before you tear it apart...

Well maybe not banned, lol. I prefer Kohler but it is becoming evident to me that the Tecumseh has earned it's respect as well.

First of all, be sure you are using the correct tools. A pin punch of the right diameter with a (for the lack of a better word) t i t on the end, is needed to keep the punch centered. Then you need to keep the hub of the steering wheel solidly secured against something on the opposite side so there is no movement (however slight) when hitting the punch. Worse case scenario, cut the steering shaft off between the dash and the wheel. Then take the whole thing somewhere that has a press. Press the shaft out and the pin will snap. Then you should be able to drive the remaining bits of pin out easily with a punch.

Some times it works to buy her one. The Bug doesn't always stick to them, but if it does sure makes it easier to bring more Horse's home.

That's what I say , there smaller and easier to move around. Heck the day I received my 1075 ,my cousin had it along with 1067 with blade mounted, snowblower, and two mower decks in his GMC 2500 long wheel base van . Try that with a big tractor !!!

You can try a drill but it will be difficult because the pin is hardened. The last one I removed I used a four fluted 1/4 inch end mill in a cordless drill. I started with slow speed trying to get it flat on the end and slightly recessed in the hole then increased the speed some. It just chopped the pin into bits as it worked its way through. Used a new pin when I installed it on another Horse. You will have to work at it but it's easier than beating your brains out on a rusted in pin. And even after the pin is gone there's the sometimes delightful task of removing the wheel from the steering shaft. I hope this is helpful to you.

The same thing happened to me last week. I kept rejecting the offers to upgrade and then the "offers" started being in the form of a message saying that it would be scheduled for later that day. I kept just cancelling it and eventually I forgot to cancel one. Sure enough that night it changed my OS to windows 10. It is working fine but I am not really happy that they were able to really impose their will on me.

Tried all ways, ag, atv and super turf. I found when the ground is soft in the spring the ag tire will sink in and tear up if not careful. I mow on some very aggressive slopes and the atv tire have been the best. They do the best job of not sliding when crossing horizontally. The one thing that worked and I overlooked in the beginning is tire pressure. I was putting the recommended max pressure that was on the side wall causing the center of the tire to bulge. I have since reduced this to 15 lbs. so the contact area of the entire tire tread is on the ground. I wet the concrete and drove through the water then looked at the tread contact pattern. Adjusted the air accordingly. Traction greatly improved. Plus the ride is much better. I run these all trails on my 520 in the pic. I did install motor cycle chains on front tire to improve steering on the hill and to keep the front from sliding on the slopes.

Steve, I think that was my second D200. The one with the loader and backhoe was gone by then. Great picture Chris. Note: As Chris said that picture was taken at my house at the first ever Meet & Greet in CT. In the picture is John (Wallfish) far left, next to him facing camera is Bill(can't remember his screen name), then Russ (SALTYWRIGHT), and finally me far right. We had a great time. I hope someone will continue the tradition and host one this year! Here is my kids and I after just unloading my newly restored/modified RJ at the 2009 Show in PA. This was my first time bringing a tractor to the show and a great thrill. I also wish I could have stopped time right there! These kids are now 15 and 12 1/2. The good thing is they still like to go to the show with me!
