7 pointsWell here's the deal guys the cab is on the tall side because I am 6 foot 4 and the last thing I wanted to do was smash my head on the way in and out every time. I do agree it looks like a phone booth but that's what happens when you shoot off the hip when building. It may look a little funny but it fits me well. It mounts to the rear bagger bracket and with 4 screws down thru each floor board. I used a lot of glass over plywood to eliminate blind spots. The original plan was to use plexy glass but when I found out how expensive it was going to get I went to plan B. I bought safety glass for windshield and rear window for $40. All the other glass was free from local glass shops due to scratches and was dumpster bound. Brought it all home and grabbed a glass cutter. Used 1/2 ac plywood and pine to build cab that was left over from other jobs. Windshield wiper motor is off an old boat and wiper arm off old Chevy van. 3 quarts of sunrise red and I'm into to it for $150. Hope the pictures help.

-
4 pointsSaw the picture and couldn't resist............ I don't know who that is but I bet they wish they had a 520H with a 2 stage blower and a friend with a 4x4 and a V plow............
-
4 pointsYou could sew some Scotchbrite to your pants seat and get on and off the seat Lots of times to take care of the seat.
-
4 pointsIt is 16 x20 and 16 feet high. I over built it because I over build everything had to keep it blue to match house per wife's request. It is full already we are remodeling the house and it is being used for storage it has a nice loft I can stand up in.

3 pointsInternational Harvester IH-50 Dupont/Nason code 7410 This is the darker/original IH color. Almost perfect match to Regal Red. $266 in that can. Sprays beautiful though. Laid over black Epoxy primer.

3 pointsThe old windbreak cabs that were used on tractors in the '50s may be an idea. Most walk-behind cabs may not be wide enough. Here is OTC cab on my Ariens 924DLE, and next to the 523Dxi.

3 pointsThe trick is to make it look natural like many years of use and weathered abuse. If you only do some things, better make them look like normal use or it will just look wrong.
-
3 points'73 No-Name seems right. Here's a 12 hp '73, one Grandson calls the Horse "his." Rustoleum Regal Red and Terry's decals - www.redoyourhorse.com Coarse grip skateboard tape. Good stuff! 2nd pic, another Stallion lover.
-
3 pointsMike's "D" has plenty of patina, but you can still see too much RED to make it weathered, my survivor 953 is almost there with the exception of the front rims! Engine leaks enough oil to prevent it or the frame from rusting!
-
3 pointsMine still has all the original patina. I call it rust.all I have to do is stop it from eating my tractor away

-
2 pointsI'll cover the floor with a drop cloth and try to save all the patina when I start on my 654. Wouldn't want to start a bidding war but I might only have enough for 2 or 3 tractors so perhaps I should take advance deposits.

2 pointsVery nice looking machine. What did you do to get the smaller hub caps to fit in there ?
-
2 pointsNice work, Your primer looks better than a lot of finished paint jobs, Then comes the magic, oops, couldn't find a spray gun emoticon. Looks great.

2 pointsLike Steve said, strong likelihood that all differential and axle parts will interchange. The '73 C 120 has a 90-1136 and the '78 C 161 has a 90-1173. The '78 probably is a bit stronger differential but the axles, although the part numbers change over the four years, should swap. The '74 C 160 and C 120 used the same part number axle even though the transmissions had different numbers.

2 pointsLet it snow in Illinois......... Steve, hope you are ready for this weekend! Can't believe that much in the forecast starting Friday evening. Anyway, here are my pics: Army, Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Notre Dame RCIII

2 pointsLast year I found a product called "Fluid Film" in a spray can. A snowblower forum member mentioned so I gave it a try. It is basically a lanolin wax in a can and work really well in hard to get nooks and crannies. It was behind the counter at Advance Auto in the "Pro" section, according to the sales person.

2 pointsBeen getting tired of not being able to keep more than one tractor at the house so I built a shed. Very happy camper
-
2 pointsIf you were to have the misfortune of breaking a drill bit off you can heat it red hot with a torch and let it cool, this will remove the temper and let you drill it out.

2 pointsHere's the results of www.redoyourhorse.com on the Mid-mount grader blade "Safety First" decal, Wheel Horse part # 5684 and the rest of the decals. [emoji3] Great job Terry. [emoji106] Dave Burley Sent from my tractor seat.
-
2 pointsI looked at the IPL manuals, and the part numbers are different between your 2 transmissions. That doesn't mean they will not swap. If those were 8 speeds, I give it 98% probability. I'd say go for it...you may find that the whole differential and mushroom gear have to be swapped as a pair. It is worth a try.

2 pointsThe miniinductor II induction heating tool works well for removing stuck bolts. The website is www.theinductor.com

2 pointsGot it guys, thank you for all your pictures and advice! I feel I can get the repair done when the weather cooperates and the temps warm up a little more.

2 pointsWhat is it with wives not wanting us to have tractors anyway............ It must be a sinister plot they're all in on to keep us pushing lawn mowers, raking leaves and shoveling snow by hand.......... Glad you found your NOS bagger. A member of this forum gave me some advice about wives a while back. He told me to take off the apron, put on my man pants. Then his wife told him to turn off his computor and we never got to finish our conversation...........

2 pointsA search of the files has been changing lately and don't know why or how. Some info here with a 18hp auto search of the files. (No space between 18 and hp) Relevancy on the right of the page was selected. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=18hp+auto&type=downloads_file&sortby=relevancy&page=1 The one with the D&A file will give you a list of the attachments at the time. 1973 was the no-name year so the tractor model name is 18hp auto and I believe there were 4 different model numbers for it in 1973. This model is often called a large frame model. Garry
-
2 pointsIt is a wheel horse plow for an older model that is mounted with what looks like the brackets for a snowblower to the front tatcha matic and custom made frame copied to look like the actual plow frame for that tractor going to the rear tacha matic on the rear axle. Redneck engineering lol
-
2 pointsAll of the decals are reproductions of the originals. One of our vendors Vinylguy, makes the decals. The center plate was originally silk screened, but Vinylguy makes a decal to cover it. You can see all of his product at redoyourhorse.com

2 pointsWith Thanksgiving coming up, I plan to regale the kids with the annual playing of Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant". That "hole" in your pictures brings to mind all the trouble "Alice's" people get into by fillin' holes up when no ones lookin'... I'm just wondering' how much more they coulda got into that hole if Arlo had his folks use a Wheel Horse in the song? You can get anything you want, at Alice's restaurant (ceptin Alice...)...
-
2 pointsLooks kinda familiar... like the Connecticut posse I've had to outrun on a few occasions.
-
2 pointsGood idea here Brian. The evolution of a paint job thread, which shows... how you go from this... ...to this... with a minimum of repainting involved.

2 pointsNice indeed. I see you built it tall enough to have a loft for storage or a bunk to sleep in when the wife gets mad at you for buying too many tractors to put in it................
