I'm head over heels over my Wheel Horse...

Here's the first Wheel Horse I restored (finished earlier this year), a 1968 "500" Special.

My 1977 B-80. It's a worker. Used it around my place for 20 years.

Ok, in an effort to get this underway... please use this thread to submit pictures for consideration for the annual calendar. Whoever will be the one making the calendar can then use this thread. Last year there were two calendars... one for "working clothes" models, and one for "show queen" models. Please only submit pictures of tractors you actually own. Thought I'd start a thread of my 654,, the history is ,, my granddad bought it new in 1964, I was born in 1965, I rode in it as a baby,, I started driving it when I was 5 or 6,, couldnt operate the clutch/brake but I drove it around the big yard for years and years,, taking terns with my cousins, When I was 16, I was given the tractor,, we switched the motor sometime around then, I left for the military at 19 and my dad sold it to a neighbor, he didn't take the hood so it was lost,, he says he never used it. its sat outside since, I picked it up today and started a tear down. the front tires split at the sight of the air hose but the back tires are holding 25 lbs hope it's ok to post here! If not,, will do something else! Thanks

If some one can select the pics and get it-into a calendar pdf file I can get them printed pretty quick. The problem lies in getting it all done graphically. Then the ordering becomes a hassle. Guys will tell me they want one but don't say how many, or don't pay attention on how payment should be made. I end up sending a dozen pm's to one person just to get the payment. If I print them again this year only calendars paid for will be made. I hate to get the Red A$$ about this but it is a lot of work to weed through the pm's and thread to find out who wants what and where the heck to send them too!

Thought I share some pics of the Homesteader Tractor I picked up this summer & my ugly mug here on RedSquare. I shared these on Facebook earlier this year too. A little history, The Homesteader tractor was made in Clinton, Arkansas in the mid 70ies by Bill Anderson. A side business to his trailer manufacturing. Made with 8 & 10HP Tucky power, 11HP B&S (mine), 16HP Kohler & a 7HP Lister diesel intended for the export market. They use a Peerless 2300 4 speed gearbox with chain reduction from the Peerless axles to the wheel hubs. The steering is just as crude with, but functional with two sprockets & a chain. Yes...those really are wheelbarrow tires on front & how they were made. The tractor came with a snowplow, garden plow, cultivators & what was left of 48' mower deck. I really enjoyed turning the garden with it after we were done for the year. The seat get's a little hot....should be an easy fix with a Cub style muffler. It's a tuff little tractor & about as simple as you can make one. Bill Anderson must have appreciated function over style.

Jason..Thanks !!!!!!! yep.....2 1/2 briggs......cast iron 7 inch 2 piece wheels from an old rotor tiller.......8 speed....just 1 inch axles.... this was a real mess when i found it lying near the Titantic..... We could look on this as a bad molesting job...... But,,,,,,i figured all this out.....Before i ever knew Red Square existed..!!! the only thing i found on E-Bay was the Hood...Thanks Dave Mitton,, and it was in a box.....never mounted,,,,im painting the engine this winter....although i found a great koler last year at the Big Show...even have the stock exhausr gaurd.. Wow,,,National Exposure........

Plastic hood and plastic fender on my 1979 C-161 Black Hood. The initial production plastic fenders were much thicker and stronger than the later ones.

I use antique white- rustoleum- #7794

The theory is B= Feb 15 = 15th day 0 = 1960

I actually have a newer mower I do work with. My wheel horses are my hobby. I plan on keeping them nice as possible and giving one to each of my four children when they get older...........and the rest for myself!!

So I saw a listing for a slot hitch plow and mower decks yesterday. The final pieces to my puzzle. The gentleman was looking to clear house so I offered to take the lot. i got more than I barganed for... 11 mower decks, 2 sets of wheel weights one with wheels attached, the slot hitch plow, and a pile of misc chains. A little over wealming but i am happy as all get out!!! (more pics to come)

Picked up a nice original 1975 C160 last weekend. It came with a 42in deck and plow but would like to add a blower for winter. Can anyone help me locate the right blower for an auto with hydro lift? Located near Milwaukee. thanks all!

Nothing crazy. Picked up a 312H cheap 2 weeks ago. A little paint, a few new parts, and new fluids. I think it came out pretty good. Ordering new decals next week and some new ags for the rears will finish it off nice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

OK now where were we................. Oh yeah......... Now you need to buy 11 more tractors. 1 for every mower deck.............

No, not with that pedal. A longer one will only make the pedal fall further back and cause the problem you mentioned. A shorter one will bring it forward some. But, a shorter one will also mean the pedal will have to be pushed further forward to disengage. You could make another one and use a threaded trunnion so it will be adjustable. You could weld a longer tab on the bottom making the rod connection farther away from the pivot point effectively making the pedal throw shorter. Basically, the geometry is wrong with the hybrid setup but it can be overcome.

The plastic fender/seat pan is the reason my Dad bought a leftover '79 C-101 instead of an '80 C-105. He didn't like the plastic and wisely bought the C-101 on 12/27/79 (I still have the receipt and the tractor). I agree that this was a mistake made by Wheel Horse. They usually made things tougher than they needed to be, but blew it on the plastic seat pans.

Sorry, I just saw this and it looks like I missed all the fun. I can't believe you got that cluster gear in upside down. Great pictures though. For some reason I am not getting a notification when someone does the @stevasaurus.

thanks again,I am returning the tractor supply paint and heading to the local auto paint store to get a gallon of the B 17562 with hardener, hope its a one stage and not a base/clear process.

Antique White or Linen White is the best match. Almond is a bit dark/creamy. The attached picture is Antique White powder coat. It matched the factory paint on the inside of the rim almost perfectly. If you install your tires from the backside of the rims, you'll have no scratches on the front of the rims, and if careful, nothing on the backside either. Any little knick on the backside can then be touched up. Lube the beads and rims before you mount them. If mounting by hand, lay a towel or old blanket down to keep from scratching the wheels too. If you use a good paint hardner, you should also have no issue with nicks. If you have a professional tire shop mount them, there should also be no scratches. I don't like painting wheels with tires on because the inside doesn't get sealed up, unless you're going to dismount, paint inside of rim, remount, tape off and then paint the front and back. Too much work.

Take it from me a bit of advice. If you are rebuilding a Magnum, put the balance gears back in. To make a short story out of this, I have been down the route of taking them out and using different piston rod combinations to overcome the vibrations. That piston and rod that is in there must work together with the balance gears or you will have a vibration that will do great harm to your motor. It even states on Miller's web site Magnums need there balance gears for 3600 rpm and under, if over take them out and other work must be done. Left them out of K series and no problems but the Mag's have a different balancing act going on. If you got any questions on balance gears and what I went through just shoot me a PM.

I got my 2016 Classic Garden Tractor calendar from Tractor Fever. I was somewhat disappointed. I know there are better tractors out there to put in the calendar. There was a super nice Wheel Horse Bronco 14, thanks. Steve Guider's has too many beautiful Case tractors to count, but why the Forklift? It really isn't a garden tractor, and while it is very cool, it has been in publication several times in magazines and calendar's. The Navy John Deere 140 was also very nice, but the John Deere 60 isn't really a GT. Maybe they ought to do a separate calendar for Vintage Lawn Tractors there are certainly enough vintage LTs to have a calendar. What really got me was the inclusion of both an 1961 Economy and 1951 Power King in the same issue, both are very similar and with only 12 tractors to an issue this really wasn't a good balance. The 1961 Tiger 450 was also really cool as well and even though I consider it almost shop made, it is nice to have it in a calendar, again maybe we need one calendar dedicated to Tigers, Amigos, Speedex type machines. The Cub Cadet 800 while rare and unusual kind of reinforces what I'm saying about this issue, mostly odd ducks. Of all the great Bolens tractors made they include Bolens 1053 that doesn't even have a steering wheel cap and looks like the photo quality was diminished compared to other tractor photos, that usually is done to make a model look better, human or nonhuman. What I was most disappointed in was the inclusion of a 1994 Gravely 16 G, a 1994, really, again not really a Vintage GT and maybe we need a calendar for new or newer GTs.

Considering the time it takes to compile, edit, and actually put a calendar together and get it shipped, submissions should have been in months ago. Me thinks it is a bit too late to get started. Most 2016 calendars are already in stores.

I plan on giving this machine to my son he's going to use it with snow blower this winter that should test at transmission. I have a barn find not sure what model it is looks like it has a 2 1/2 hp Owens on it . l will pull it on to the garage his should make for a good winter project.

This is my RJ-58 that I bought this one from RedSquare member Jdog_kustoms about four years ago... I bought a seat and both front wheels/tires for it. Other than that, I believe it to be all original otherwise except for the plastic gas tank which I intend to replace. This is as it sits today... Near as I can tell, the S/N of my RJ-58 is 4885 which is also not on "the list" in the link noted in above posts. There is no date code on top of the transaxle case so it would be one of the early RJ's. This tractor is currently located in York, PA.
