I brought my first horse home to the hangar this weekend. When the wife saw it she said "I want my own", so I guess that is permission to start collecting a few more. I have my eye on another, but the old guy hasn't decided if he wants to sell yet. Attached are a few pics. Brian SLC-Ut RJ58

This is a small modification and I haven't seen it on before. My 416H belt flopped around so bad that it hit the side cover, after putting on a new belt it didn't improve much, so I added a flat idler. My 520H belt was missing about a 1" chunk, so after installing a new belt, it had the same issue. The idler is 3 1/4" and is from TSC (3" to 3 1/2" would fit fine). The tension idler on the left raised up slightly but wasn't a problem. There is already a hole in the hoodstand, I used a 1/4" bolt, but the hole is the right size to tap 5/16" threads if you wanted to use a larger bolt. With a couple of washers a spacer it was installed. I was tightening the steering and had this apart already. I got similar results to Duke's post on the steering play. It's not hard to adjust, but takes a lot of time. Just my Craig

Thanks Kelly, problem solved one bolt closest to muffler and PTO was slightly loose. I thought I torque all the bolts must have missed one. I did not check after the engine was warmed up. My fault. Thanks again for all everyone's help

+1 The single cylinder 16 hp Kohler is a very desired engine, regardless if it is in a Wheelhorse, IH Cub Cadet or other make tractor. They have plenty of power to spare. Nice tractor. Good luck, Bill

bo dawg. I've got a carter #30 on my K241 right now, from a K 321. I did have to adjust it a little. It does run stronger now. Short term use of the K341 carb (if it will fit) should keep you running until the #26 carter is fixed.

Got a 10 wheeler load of topsoil. Had lots of low places and chuck holes to fill. Had it dumped to at the biggest spot that needed filling. The little 704 made short work of it with the homemade grader . Plus hauled a lot with my crappy 25 yr. old dump cart. Had a little help from my "other tractor" "Elvis". Lots more fun than a shovel!

I usually dont even remove the throttle shaft just to rebush the top. Just grind the top of the shaft down so you can remove the lever from the shaft. Then drill the end of the shaft and put a small screw in the top. Probably could just peen it over again but i figured it makes it easier to repair next time this way. Next time i do one i will post a pic. Joel

OK, Matt here is what to do. Splice in the new line to the old line ( couple them together with something like a piece of hard tubing or even a section of pencil or an ink pen ) and then carefully pull the old line out while you feed the new line in. You may have to wipe some dishwashing soap or WD40 on both the hoses to do this, but it works good alot of the time.

I'll bet Steve will have his shotgun loaded before you make it out of your driveway.

Nah.. 'borrowed' the pics from ebay because I didn't know where that spring fitted either... Dave1966 also sent me a few pics of the 60" mule drive a while back.... FYI building a 60" mule drive from parts costs around $200... don't ask me how I know... Paul

I used Rustoleum clear coat on this RJ. It has a good 4 coats on it over rattle can Krylon. I wet sanded the clear with 1000 grit and buffed it out with a buffer. This isn't how I usually paint a tractor but this one was a refresh, not a restore. I also had all of the paint and clear left over from a previous non tractor related project so I decided to use it. I know some guys like to OVER restore their tractors, hey I've done that myself a time or two as well. These days I'm watching my money a little closer.
