7 pointsHad today off so hit a tractor museum in Perth Australia, about an hour north of where I’m at. Almost all farm tractors but they did have one that was “WH size” called Howard. Had my Lawn/Garden tractor mag with me, perfect for a picture! And yes, I wore one of my WHCC shirts

6 pointsScored a set of 25lb. IH wheel weights at a garage sale. While looking at them the lady asked if she was asking too much and seemed willing to reduce the price. But they were already cheap. I knew she was a recent widow with teenagers so I paid her price and bought some other stuff I really didn’t need. The weights were an ugly shade of red over some yellow paint. Using a wire bush on an angle grinder most of the paint came off. But the magic smoke started pouring out of my good Makita grinder.🤬🤬 Have had it for about 25 years. Painted the weights orange and will install them on the Roper with the front boom. Gonna miss that Makita.🥺

6 pointsSeptember 12, 1972 , After nearly 40 years of riding across millions of American TV and movie screens, the cowboy actor William Boyd, best known for his role as Hopalong Cassidy, dies at the age of 77. Boyd’s greatest achievement was to be the first cowboy actor to make the transition from movies to television.

3 pointsEdy had a cabinet in the garage that she wanted gone. I didn’t need to use the Roper to move it but I wanted to.😁😁😁 I transported it to the workshop and installed it in a corner of my office.

3 pointsAdded a receiver hitch to the rear of my RJ-59 to attach a garbage can hauler. I have a very steep driveway and at 66 it is difficult to get the heavy trash cans to the curb. Worked better than expected and I still get joy out of driving my grandfather's tractor he purchased new. BTW this is how I learned to drive!

2 pointsYou had me at "boom"... I thought this was going to be another story about the connecting rod getting a sudden urge to vacate the premises....

1 pointI retired in 2006, we were just starting to look into horizontal outdoor storage at that time. Being right on the ocean I was hoping they would transport the spent fuel to an off site storage facility but I was just a button pusher. Nobody aske for input from us.

1 pointWhy doesn’t the hulks pants fall off when he transforms? because the transformation alters is “genes”.

1 pointIf the above transmission came out of that horse and if that engine is a 4 hp Kohler, then for sure, you have a 400 '1960 and Squonk is correct. Check the numbers on your engine. The 1960 suburban had a spec # 31388A for it's 4 hp Kohler. The 1961 401 had a spec # 41437A.
-
1 pointThat 3 piece transmission is either a #5003 or a #5010. It apears to be a #5010 looking at how the brake band mounts. Either way, that transmission is wrong for a 701. You should have a 2 piece #5007 trans. If the trans pictured is the one you are using, there is no drain plug on the bottom. Just take out one of the lower side bolts to drain that trans...you may have to poke something in the hole to open it up once you take out a side bolt. To fill...use the hole the shifter goes in. (2 qts 90 wt) Have you posted any pictures of this horse??

1 pointHow does the question I am asking run counter to the purpose of the governor if as the service manual says, the max RPM is 3600, the engine is running way below that, and the service manual gives instructions on how to raise the RPM by adjusting the high speed adjusting screw? It says: The primary purpose of the governor on a Kohler air-cooled engine is to maintain a constant engine speed (RPM) under varying workloads. Therefore, if the governor is not maintaining a high enough engine speed, it needs to be adjusted higher. And the RPM can be adjusted higher or lower which is the purpose of the high speed adjusting screw. Thanks!

1 point@ri702bill noticing a missed ENHANCEMENT DETAIL ? in your great plow frame pictures , see it ? add a medium pull extension spring from , frame HITCH PIN CLIP TO pto swing arm LOCKING PIN , CORNER HOLE ? that lubricated smooth tension ELIMINATES LINKAGE BUZZING , regularly go over any change , to ENHANCE THAT , this idea zone is what drives me to other opportunities , like spring pull to close / stop , throttle / choke cable linkage ? verified total lubrication makes it smooth with a light pull assist to any stage . dare to experiment , pete

1 pointCongrats on the purchase! If you haven’t already, I’d suggest checking out that front axle pivot pin. You’ll need to jack up the tractor by the frame to check for slop. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/92609-xi-series-front-axle-pivot-repair/

1 pointThere may be something in this service bulletin that will help. Are your cables in the correct holes at the bottom of the brackets?

1 pointFinally got around to getting pictures of the A Liner camper 'remodel '. Here is where we ended up: Here is where we started: The addition is a crate for our dog's sleeping quarters. The refrigerator, sink and associated plumbing is gone. The refrigerator will be installed in our small Coleman travel trailer, and the sink will become an outdoor camp sink on our property in Ky. Took a cross state jaunt yesterday to pick up a few parts for EJ, the 8n from Steiner Tractor Parts. Got a couple of odds and ends for a couple of neighbor's tractors - a Massey Harris 40 and a Ferguson TO-35.

1 pointI remember where I was and the feeling of dismay that such an attack could happen in the land of the free. I will spare you the details of the long day that followed at work but it is etched in my memory. The magnitude of this single coordinated attack on the United States of America makes it stand out but if we are not paying attention to the quantitative impact of the crime, creeping socialism, deteriorating morals, and injustice that is so pervasive throughout our society we are experiencing another 9-11 attack every month, it is just spread out over the entire country. We have an election coming up in a few weeks. I hope everyone will get to know the candidates and choose wisely. Local school board members are the key to our future as a free society, get to know their views on a variety of subjects. Local justice officials are also a key component of protecting our freedom. Get to know their stance on dealing with crime.

1 pointHave used heim joints for decades. Have some of various sizes in a drawer. Running low on them so I use them judiciously. Also have various types and sizes of the rod ends. Quick disconnect and regular. Have used the quick disconnect many times and not had a problem. They do make it easy to reset toe in, especially if one end of tie rod is not adjustable. Plus they were free. Former place of employment scrapped them as overstock since no one was buying replacements. The mechanically minded employees snatched them right up. If they lasted forever on a lift truck , they will do well on a garden tractor.

1 pointRun it for a few minutes with it bogging and then shut it down and feel around for the heat. It almost has to be in the mule drive or deck bearings unless it's a belt dragging on something. There's gonna be heat somewhere IMO.

1 pointMe and the neighbor loaded a few of them up and took them to Portland, IN antique engine and tractor show. Spent the better part of the day riding around the swap meet area and picking up a few things along the way. Only managed to cover about half of the swap meet area and one pass through the antique engine area. Huge event and it doesn't even officially open until Wednesday.

1 pointToo much on the to-do list today to get these on a machine but did manage to drill the rims for the weights. ICYMI, these 4 x 8 rims came on an off-brand cart with bushings and dry rotted wheel barrow tires. I almost threw them on the I don't care pile but they're actually decent quality so I knocked the bushings out and put 4 ply 4 x 8 tri-ribs on them. I talked my brother out of the weights and cleaned them up. Too wide on standard rims to get through the gates on my property so I think this will work. Soon to be in service...

1 point@Natejc_98 came by and picked up his 1973 8 HP 4 speed. He and Trina and I have been through the systems on it. Changed a bunch of stuff. Cleaned some stuff. Replaced some stuff. Today we tried to start it and immediately figured out it was getting no fuel. The original fuel pump was gunkified. Swapped for another pump but that was reeeaaally weak. OK... back to the original and clean it up. I modified a 10 to 16 HP pump rebuild kit by using a leather hole punch to change the position of the holes in the diaphragm. Reused the original internal spring. The 8 HP engine fired up and went well. We then noticed a scraping noise when the tractor was in gear. Popped the belt off and verified it against a known correct Wheelhorse 7473 belt. It was a little bit too long. Likely I has mistakenly installed a 7478 from an Automatic tractor which is an inch or whatever longer. Left the 7473 on. Nate got the chance to drive his "new" toy around here a bit and we loaded it up on his truck. Off to it's new home!

1 pointHad to move the last of my house stuff into the garage last night, so the 3 machines that have resided there since resto had to spend the night out under the temp awning. For the next few months they will be spead between the barn and utility building. They didn't seem to mind so far...

1 pointGot the Bervac swapped onto 416. Also swapped rear hitch, larger wheels/tires from Workhorse. Still have a few more preventive maint items to get done. Got lift assist springs installed/adjusted & 150lbs of weight on hitch. Now I gotta figure out what to do with the Workhorse. Be nice to have it for parts but dont really want it sitting around...... 20260814_133023.mp4

1 pointThe C41 has two rubber stops and springs under the seat/spring mounting plate. one spring was broken and one rubber stop was missing. After scrounging through the “extra parts” I found two heavier springs and two rubber stops. A few minutes later they were installed.
-
1 pointDecided that painting these wheel weights was worth the effort. Now I just need to pull the front wheels and get rid of that bright white that somebody painted them with. UPDATE:
-
1 pointLOL! This C-81 is a parts rig and I decided to strip it down today..trans will sit on a shelf as a spare but I wanted fresh fluid in it before it gets stored away.
