Might aswell give a full tour while we're at it View from the back at the front-barn-door. And the other way round. The white wall is where my workshop will be located. And the view from the first floor looking at the back wall of the garage/barn. I absolutely love the big wooden beams in here. Upstairs. Lots of potential. Doesn't look like much but the walls here are about 2.5m (8ft.) high. Living room with two bedrooms attached. One of the small bedrooms. Cosy dining room. Equally 'cosy' kitchen. Bathroom. Toilet. This is looking at the white door leading to the kitchen. This used to be where some livestock was kept. Few cows on the left with a manure gutter, they filled it but can still see the outlines in front of the 'step'. Few pigs on the front-right, behind the blue doors. This is on the other side, likely a horse stable. And even more stables. This is on the left side of the big barn. We were told this was were some sheep were kept. The part with the 'lid' I guess you could call it can be closed so that there's some extra shelter against the elements. That where sheep had their young. My favorite SI story revolves around Marketing Genius. Traditionally, February is the poorest sales month in Sports. Football is over, Baseball & Tennis are yet to come alive. That leaves Hockey & Golf. Enter the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue - It took the poorest selling month to the top selling month. And continues to do so...

My Sports Illustrated story. Back in the '70s I was treasurer for Troop 35 BSA. I organized a monthly paper drive that totally financed our troop for years. I got a call asking if I could take magazines. The answer was no because my buyer (Schmidt & Ault Paper Co.) could not process waxy paper. I asked what magazines did he have. He had every issue of Sports Illustrated with every year wrapped in brown paper and tied. My son still has the magazines and continued to complete the collection today. There was one issue missing that he was able to find so the collection is 100% complete.

That was one of my first firewood processing tool build projects. It's made of old posts recycled from a deck I built years ago and tore down less years ago. The trailer has had at least 3 axle setups that I recall. Its current iteration seems to work well. Big enough to hold quite a load and not too big for the heavy Cinnamon Horse to pull. A lighter weight tractor would be much less useful. I've been considering adding width to the vertical posts but it works well right now.

Tension on the puller and a sharp rap with the BFH on the puller screw works for me.

If your using it to mow it will need an electric clutch, there is no bearings in the output shaft just sleeves that run on oil pressure similar to an car. I will say that engine would be a rockstar in a c if done right.

Cleaning the ignition points and replacing the spark plug should always be the first step in correcting poor running conditions. Easy way to rule out the condenser is to temporarily disconnect it for testing, if conditions improve then replace it, if not then look elsewhere.

Here ya go, all of your other wiring including safety switches will work just fine.

As I’ve always got so much time free and so many projects, the ideas as usual keep going round in my head. I’ve plans for quite a few designs and here is the next one that’s in design…. The little 400 is waiting for a hood and a paint job, in the meantime it might be getting an upgrade. hot on the heels of Ewan’s 704, I’ve a simpler idea to add 4 wheel drive to yet another Wheel Horse 😂 out comes the parts bucket, and the scrap pile is set to with an angle grinder, a welder and lathe! first stop a peerless transaxle diff with a sprocket added Then making a bearing carrier Shiny axle case Hub bearing and the start of the steering knuckle A finished swivel and UJ carrier, need to crack on with the other side!

Agreed. Part of the key is supposed hold the trigger wheel in time. Pull the key and post a picture please. Pretty sure it's sheared. If you look at the picture of the crank trigger wheel the notch for the key is at the top, not in line with the keyway. I think we found the problem. You'll need a new key and maybe a new crank trigger wheel. Key is PN 515-0284

Since you have a puller rap on that puller screw as Ed wrote. If that doesn't work wedge it and try it again I wedge them from behind against the block and do a fast rap right to the shaft with a hammer. Shocks them loose. Leave the nut on but loose so threads aren't damaged. Have yet to have one that wouldn't come off doing this

I just did this a few weeks ago on my 161 thinking it might help when I installed the FEL. I used a 60 grit flapper wheel on an angle grinder to take the top off the axle. Washers and bearing were only 1/8" and it was surprisingly easy to take that off.

Been searching since Oct of last year for an engine w/no luck.....and yes looked for Craftsman engines too. Even tried to find a Kohler, Vanguard too. Im out a lot less $$, time, & aggravation with the 416. Was gonna part out 1848 but dont want a dead tractor sitting around. Probably just sell it cheap & hopefully with the 37" deck too. Just really want it out of the way. I live in town so space is limited

Another item you may wish to look at - your front wheel bearings & spindles. You just added a fair amount more weight to the steering... Pay attention to the underside of the spindles where the inner races reside. It is not uncommon to find the shafts well worn due to the inner race(s) spinning - they should remain stationary. Repair / replace as necessary. If you find the steering to be too heavy handed after the swap, consider cutting the bottom ends of the axle bosses to make room for a set of 3 pc roller thrust bearings & washers, as I did for @Handy Don on his 312. Makes for one finger steering....

I have not seen one do this, but will try to address some of your questions. The nut does not need to be very tight. If you crushed a spacer, that's too tight. Replace it. The pulleys and shroud should be just far enough apart that they don't touch. IIRC that puts the longest spacer in the middle. You don't often see a 36" deck on a tractor over 12HP, but I won't judge. Maybe you have a narrow gate or trees to go between. Having said that, are you sure you are using the right belt? I think most of the 36" decks use the 102741 belt, which is 1/2" x 97". And the 42" decks I expected on this tractor use the 108834 belt, which is 1/2" x 98". If you try to use a 42" belt on a 36" deck, the extra length will force you to jack the mule pretty far out to get it tight, which will rotate the pulley angles in a bad way. And that's my first guess on a cause.

Is your valve returning to the neutral position correctly?

I've had deck drive belts flip on the clutch pulley. Tightening the mule drive solved that. As I stated before, I run my belts with about 1/2" deflection on each side between the clutch pulley and mule drive pulleys. I've never had a belt roll and jump like your's. On belt routing, the tapered side of the belt goes in on the clutch pulley and inner pulley. The flat side (outside) of the belt goes on the flat, outer mule drive pulley. Inner mule drive pulley, tapered side of the belt in, outer mule drive pulley, tapered side away from the pulley. The nut clamps on the spacers and inner races of the pulley bearings. Tightness should not affect the bullies. Having said that, I will also say I tighten mine to 30 or 40 ft lb - measured by my finely calibrated arm. Might be worthwhile to tighten the mule drive pulleys without a belt on them to confirm that they spin freely. If they don't, you will be heating the bearings, bullies, and belt to unhealthy temperatures. Have you noticed a burning rubber smell? Hope this helps. Please do post a description of the solution when you find one. That might help someone else solve a similar problem in the future.

Finally got to mount up my JD brand front wheel weights. I painted these twice the first time just made a gooey mess, I dont know what kinda yellow paint they use but think that may be where the slogan ”nothing runs like deere” came from . FYI This style weight will NOT work without drilling new holes and are to wide/thick to work on the regular style wheels ie c series, older square or round hoods.

So for actual context... a friend of Trina's has invited us to a Hippie themed party in a few weeks. These glasses are a small part of my costume... or daily wear??!!??

Do you have a twist in the drive belt?

The nut is tight, I was wondering if I get it to tight because one of the spacers mushroom. I was wondering how much space should be between the pulleys? Which spacer goes between the pulleys the short or long? The belt size is 1/2" x 97" Thank you for trying to help.

@peter lena Yeah replaced wheel brgs with some quality machined brgs. Also cleaned all the old grease out of spindle bores and spindles and put new red and tacky grease in them. I would like to install brgs under spindles like the 520H has it steers a-lot easier😃. Just have no mill to do it with.
