Thank you all for your kind words, care and thoughtfulness. It means so much. This truly is a community where each one cares for one another. The picture was on Rita's 72nd birthday last year at a birthday party for my daughter's mother in law's birthday party for which they shared the same birthday, and they honored Rita as well. Warmest regards, Dan

One of the last steps in this camper switcheroo of the last year, I’m heading to Pratt, KS to deliver the toy hauler. It’s 3 am and as soon as Norman warms up a bit it’s wheels up!

Adjusted the governor arm on the shaft so the governor is functioning now. Ran to Ace Hardware for a 1/2”x39” belt and a longer 7/16” x 3” grade 5 bolt that was needed to mount the 6908 drive pulley on the gear drive deck. I also grabbed a heavy spring that had similar specs as the 5185 spring in the RL-366 mower parts diagram. However the spring had an extra length hook on one end, which I figured was a bonus as i could shorten it to the length needed. Thanks to @Horseoholic for dimensions, i made a 5385 link from bar stock that goes between the spring and the idler. In the RL-367 destructions manual it says to attach the spring to the 7th hole in the frame. On this Raider, the 7th hole is the front hole of the tower, looking at picture in the RL-367 manual, the hole that the spring is anchored to is not there on my Raider. I made a tab 1-1/2” long with a hole to attach the entire length of the Ace spring to MY 7th hole. Since the Raider has footboards, the link and spring are hidden behind it. I had to trim the front footboard bolt 1/4” because it interfered with the link where it comes through on the back side, but it all works well. The belt keeper on the idler doubles as a boot guard. The shimmed drive pulley spins true and freely. If i’m thinking correctly, i may try moving the throttle spring down one hole at the governor so the governor allows a little more throttle up the hill. Seemed to be dropping a bit too much rpm before the governor takes over. I picked the deck up at the Big Show. I only pulled the gear covers off to have a peak, but i didn’t disassemble anything. Some axial play in the cross shaft, but i’ve run much worse. The right blade shaft woodruff needs replacing, not sheared but i can tell it’s worn pretty bad from the slop. Both blade shafts have some radial play, hoping the shafts aren’t worn too bad. Just need to finish out the season and i’ll replace all of the bearings before next year. Loaded it up with grease. It mowed, but it looked really skippy. I shut it down and checked. Sure enough, the right blade was on the left and the left was on the right. This is the second gear drive deck i bought like that. It cuts perfectly now with the blades on their correct sides. Need to order a rectifier yet and some trans seals. Brakes barely work at all on these old 3/6spds… especially backwards, on a hill, when the brake drum and band are saturated with gear lube. IMG_2076.mov

This is me on the 312-8 and my great niece (she was throwing candy from the cart) during our local Alumni Day/250th Parade, it was awesome! I was here for our bicentennial back in 1976, and now this Semi quincentennial in 2026, but I probably won't be around for the Tricentennial, but maybe my tractors will still be going! Hopefully this picture will come okay! C-85

I drove a class a motor home with a 6.2 diesel to a Buffalo Bills game full of friends once. On the way home one of my buddies said he would buy me a beer if I managed to pass one car on the Thruway. I found an old lady in a Chevette!

@Bill D just used some stuff I had laying around, used a bent-up factory WH hitch that I turned upside down and put pin back through to take most of the tongue weight. I will mention again if you had to buy all of your metal it would probably be bout as cheap just to purchase one from one of the two Vendors who sell them that's on here.I have enough left over metal to make another for my C160 one of these days.

Actually that "patina" tractor came from Rodney Burger. He took it to the LeSeuer , Minnesota Swap Meet in April several years ago. The hood was painted purple. My brother David Ralph bought it and it set unused for several years -a waiting some attention. Craig Hearne told me how to paint a tractor with "new patina". I cleaned it and lightly sanded and steel wooled the entire hood. I did not think you could do it but it worked real well. You take Rustoleum red primer, flat black and and red you want (I use Rustoleum Regal red) and lightly spray the three at different intervals until you have a "new patina" finish. And, yes I was skeptical but it worked great. Last photo is the "new patina" RJ as sold to the new buyer.

I recommend replacing the brake lining with one from @rmaynard. They are a solid material with great friction. The brake is still never gonna be a WH strong point, but you’ll be impressed and a tad safer.

So I offered to get this franken driving for Brett Esse of Portage Show proprietor fortune and fame. He offered to pay me for the work, which I refused, and I had to explain to him the difference between a hobby and a job. Actually is a cute little tractor and runs fairly decent. Started out life as a 656 with a K181 repo. Floor boards added but nicely done. Problem is the tranny is locked up solid and all the diesel and kerosene in the world is not going to help. @Achto sold him an off the shelf spare tranny to put in it to get it driving and ready to be sold at the show. Pics of the adventure. What flush fluid looks like after a month of setting. I probably should have drained the water out first. Rite of passage my @$$. Puller best xmass present ever @Achto

All this RV talk takes me back to the 80's when I worked at an RV dealer. The way they were built back then, you didn't want to tow anything bigger than a little TSC trailer with a Lawn Ranger on it. We had a certified welder in plenty of times to reinforce hitches and frames. Power wise, Winnebago had a Renault 4 popper diesel connected to a 5 speed manual putting out a whopping 43 HP. Then they added a Turbo and upped it to like 75. Old ladies in Chevettes would blow your doors off at stoplights! Turbo engines also liked to come apart at the seams. Had one where a piston came out of the block and hit the starter. The starter was bolted to the transmission bell housing so it snapped that in half!

After the domestic market ended using the common tractor model names like Charger, Commando and Raider in 1972 they continued to use the names for the export market for a few years. Same tractor different model name. Use the 1-0120 model number. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=1-0120&quick=1&type=downloads_file

Made some sugar and vinegar cucumbers. Added a few radishes and spring onions for bling. Picked enough blackberries for a pie. Then outa the kitchen to the shop to make a connecting link for the 20hp kicker motor on the boat. The motors 150 and 20 hp Johnsons could be started and shifted from the helm, but only the 150 could be steered. The 20 could not be steered so when it was being used, the 150 was used as a rudder which was not a very responsive steering system. With this connecting link both moters will be steered from the helm making it much more effective when pulling crab traps.

Trina and I have quite the collection here as you know. Also, several other machines. Quite a few implements. As we were showing @Natejc_98 around, you could tell he knew he was... "in trouble." He even mentioned that going to @JCM Jim's Place in the fall was probably going to add to this.

I also used the marine primer bulbs for many years and they are effective in repriming the fuel pump. The fuel drain down problem is a result of both of the fuel pump check valves failing to seal properly. This can only get worse and the pump will eventually fail to supply a good fuel supply to the carb. With the price of a good primer bulb and a good e- pump comparable in price, When my primer bulbs start to harden and crack, I now replace them with an e-pump.

Yesterday Eloise and Cylvia went camping! Our friend’s pusher “Cylvia” has the 8.3 Cummins that I longed for so badly. Eloise has the 7.2 3126 CAT. Accelerating to highway speeds, or off highway, I felt very light on the throttle. When we arrived to the campground about an hour and a half away, he mentioned how he could not keep up with me on take offs. Once again, the 100 hp lesser engine has impressed me! Happy 250th Independence Day, America!

The problem with the group photo is that people who are selling stuff can't get away. Others never hear the announcement. Others forget. As someone said, it's like herding cats. I did it for several years, and was happy to do so, but it's a job for the younger generation. I will be happy to have my big red canopy be the gathering area. And as far as "Caption This", here is my take. "Hurry up and get in line, my bladder is going to explode".

Yesterday I finally got around to putting on my rebuilt RJ transmission (thanks Keith Jones and Larry Eads). Put the rear wheels on this am. ( old Montgomery Wards ag tires with a different style tread) . Began to work on motor tins, cull together missing parts ( clutch rod, lift cable, transmission boot, read hitch, etc. amazed at the parts I have!) Here are some pictures of the first two days. Yes that hood had some purple paint on it! Sanding with three types of paper! Going to finish up with Rustoleum Matte Clear as the final cover coat.

My uncle hit a deer Saturday night. My evening was spent trying to put his car back into something resembling it's original shape. I didn't take before or after pics, but for it showing up looking like the Crash Dummy car and not installing any new parts I think it looked pretty good when I was done.

Hello specialists!! I have already seen on the forum but I do not find, that there are C161s with external brakes that would be better than the internal brake because of metal powder in the hydraulic system: Can anyone tell me this and in this case why the oil filter does not protect the system? -These 161 with external brakes are equipped with Sunstrand or Eaton? - Are they rare? Do they have the K341 or an Onan? Thank you for your answer cordially Gilou External brakes avoid the metal shavings issue The filter is on the return line to the trans axle. The suction line can pick up trash it goes through the pump and motor causes damage then goes to filter on the way back C161 would originally have had K341 and Sunstrand Les freins externes évitent le problème des copeaux métalliques Le filtre est sur la ligne de retour à l'essieu trans. La ligne d'aspiration peut ramasser les déchets qu'elle traverse la pompe et le moteur cause des dommages puis va filtrer sur le chemin du retour C161 aurait initialement eu K341 et Sunstrand

I believe you're talking about this style dash similar to the 500 Special I did. Terry's decals are typically very easy and forgiving to apply but these dash decals might be the toughest. Make sure the surface is prepared very well. The metallic decal will show any imperfection. I primed, sanded and cleaned it like I was going to apply paint. Since this decal is so different from the others I started at the bottom and slowly worked my way up fitting it tight to the ridge across the center. The credit card thing works very well although I used an AARP card.

Id like to build y’all a bunk house some day 😎. With the pool area having a bath house, it should be easy to hose y’all down if you get into Dan’s hot sauce too soon for the road trip home. 🤠
