As I said previously... the logical thing to do was buy another one, right? A few miles down the road, I found this one. It only made sense to bring it home. It came with a pile of spare parts, some of them I dunno what they are. Plus a packet of several original manuals and papers for it. Plus spare tire chains. It has a few minor issues... for one its out of line, I don't know how to adjust it, there are no adjusters. And it didn't run, but I got it running, I think it has a few dirty grounds. All of it seems to work just fine. The brakes and the clutch are super sloppy and need adjusted. Its covered with dust from being in a corner of a garage, and needs a bath. $300. I need to remove the deck and sharpen the blades and pressure washer it all clean. Then I'll set it loose on a lot full of weeds.

Trying to sort out which tractors will pull different responsibilities/tasks, but decided the heavy weights belonged on the C-160. Thing runs sweet after putting the carb back together today! Actually, all three are running excellent! I've pretty much designated the No Name to lawn duty. Guessing the 160 will be my go-to for the MacKissic chipper. Then this winter one of these two will be sporting a 48" snowplow and the other will be on standby with the snowblower.

Whole other can of worms, but many of us are very much pro "ethanol free" on fuel. Personally, I put the first gallon in a vehicle to ensure no ethanol gets in the gas can. I don't care what anyone says, ethanol is not good for carburetor equipped anything.

The arm on the steering spindle is likely twisted. That is what happens when the tire runs into something it can't climb. A closed up adjustable wrench on the flat bar can be used to twist it back into alignment. And it does not take much for a large improvement. I have broke the weld doing this.

Ok, so problem sorted. I had the back wheels already off the ground in anticipation of the bleed process but I noticed when I lowered them that an air bubble rose up in the resevoir. Inspired by this I raised the front and this instantly drained the resevoir. It was then just a case of feeding in 3.5 litres or so of oil a resevoir at a time until it took no more and then the bleed process went through without a hitch. A new lease of life ....

Looks like things are changing a bit. Thursday looks good and Friday & Saturday are only threats of storms. Nothing new for South Mountain Fairgrounds.

Agreed. Plus the K181 has ball bearings at both ends of the crank. No comparison whatsoever.

Just stick with your K181 The shaft on your linked engine is to small and too short. I know you are trying to learn but stay focused on what you have.

You have to remove the 4 bolts and 2 small plates then number 40 will come off To me looks like seal 39 is there the rubber part may be worn away

Try running a jumper from the battery positive to the coil positive. If the stumble goes away then you have a bad key switch or safety switch that's causing problems. Also, check and clean your grounds. This is a powered ignition system so dirty electrical connections can cause problems. Just some thoughts.

The 8 speed with 1 1/8" axles and a 8 pinion differential is the strongest transmission. I do know guys that are using the 8 speed w/ 1" axles that have not had any issues running a stock engine. The tranny in my puller is a 6 speed w/ 1 1/8" axles. It use to have a 10 pinion diff but I made tranny gravel out of that. I have since retro fit an 8 pinion diff into it. The 8 pinion has been holding up well with my stock-ish 14hp engine.

I think it’s all dependent on which transmission your 312 has. The frames and steeeing is generally all the same. If the trans has 1-1/8” axles then it’s the most stout of the 8 speeds and that’s the one the pullers want.

Sta-bil has been well proven to slow down the degradation of the gasoline whether it is ethanol free or not. However, it has also been well proven that it does absolutely nothing to negate the negative effects of ethanol. Around our acreage we have no ethanol, no additives, and no problems.

Yeah somebody whacked something pretty good, or it fell off a set of ramps or similar. If you can't bend the spindle back, they are fairly common from similar year model machines. And adjustable tie rods are always a nice upgrade!

Trina made some calls to a couple places about assistance and ideas for health checks and spay/neuter. Still waiting for information there. We were able to move momma cat in with her babies. Got some litter and more food variety. Trina ordered a very large cat cage too. Hopefully it'll be here Thursday.
