17 pointsThis past weekend we had the 15th (ish) UK meet. Around 35 horses from around the country. A few custom ones - you can’t have too many and 10 round hoods, which is a record for us here… no idea where they come from! My own basket case made it, and then the pull start broke on the first day leaving it bricked! 😭 here are a few pictures

10 pointsThis is from the experience I went through the last couple days. It pertains to a B 100 that I picked up a few weeks ago. It’s been quite the experience with the wiring on this tractor. I was trying to fix someone else’s mistakes. Yesterday was I guess you called a head banger or scratcher. Be cause everything I did did not work. So today I guess you could call it a premonition early in the morning. I decided to use a jumper wire form the solenoid to the wire on the starter from the Solenoid.. Bingo it worked. So Squonk AKA Mike was interested how this came about. So I told him. He said the wire was bad. I thought how a 6ga wire could be bad with no bare spots and the contacts were clean and shiny. So as I changed the wire witch is a 4ga brand new. Bingo I have contact. I have had a few of this model in the past. So I guess you could say don’t assume everything is good just by looks. I am not good with electrical never took the time to learn it.. if you read this and liked it say something or give me a thumbs up. Enjoy all your projects. This is something apparently I didn’t follow when I was doing it.

8 pointsThe cables in the pics looked new but suspect to my eyes. We had an electrical clinic at the Napa when I was working there. Had a nice set up from the Rayloc rep. A battery with nothing in it but 6 D cell flashlight batteries, A 4 ga. cable with only 1 strand connected inside of it. Key switch ,solenoid and starter all on a big board. Pretty cool. We invited all the shops to attend. We had a 12 volt test light , multimeter and jumper wires. One by one we had guys trying to diagnose various bugs we put in a circuit. And still I had to go to garages and find problems that stumped these guys including 2 the very next day! Moral of the story: A 12 volt test light only tells you that electricity is present. Most of them have a 6 or 9 V bulb in it so it will glow with 3 volts. Get a multimeter and learn how to use it. Electrical circuits on a WH are like a road map. Start at the battery and follow the positive side until there is a stopping point like a solenoid. Watch the video's I posted about grounds and solenoids. A multimeter would have found this problem in a minute.

5 pointsAre any of you guys going to be able to go see this as it comes through the East for the 1st time?? I've seen it a couple times when it came through Geneva and West Chicago, Ill a couple years ago. It is worth it if you get the chance !! This is worth seeing ...there is only 1. Go on You Tube and check out it going through the Feather River in the Rockies. Out standing for sure!! A schedule...

5 pointsThis one is at a new location this year. Supposed to be bigger show grounds and looking on Google Maps it does appear to be have nice large show grounds The last place was tight! Tough to get in with a truck/trailer and find a spot. The usual suspects will be there: @Docwheelhorse, @wallfish @Retired Wrencher

5 pointsI have the newer style and really really like it. I have used it on manual lift and hydro lift with solid link. With manual lift I can use hand pressure on lift arm for a slight "digging" pressure, with hydro lift you have to get used to listening to tractor and "tweaking lift" so you don't over load and spin out. I have 66lb steel weight, filled tires and big me. 12 hp manual or 16 hp hydo lift, tractor still has power at 1/ 2 throttle to spin out. Grading when ground has some moisture certainly helps removing /relocating high spots. I've significantly reworkedd drainage on 2 large yards with a dozer blade and grade blade. Moisture was key to digging/moving material with dozer blade and finish grading with grader blade.

5 pointsDrove the K- 20 locally for years while I worked on the rest of the truck. Got a lot of comments without the bed. POR on the frame etc. Have fun with it while working on it. GOOD LUCK with it EB.

4 pointsI've been wanting to replace my mulching cover, due to it being broken at the corners, and the PO hacking it. WHX?? was kind enough to sell an extra one he had (including the mounting bolts/nuts which I didn't have). Today I used rust reforming primer and GM Red spray paint on the rusty areas of the deck. After it all cured I added a little weatherstripping to the back edges of the cover and installed. My mild OCD is doing better now. Once my son in law has the time he's going to 3D print me another one for the spare parts shelf.

4 pointsBe carefull about ground sterilizer if you have well water...If you apply it up to your tree line in may also kill the first row of trees...

3 pointsHere’s a mugshot from last year’s show on my 312-8. I set up my blue canopy just across the gravel road from the Hospitality Center.

3 pointsOk. YOU are the Executive Producer. I’ll put the camera and tripod on my packing list. Fair warning, though, when in photog mode I put on my “Director” hat. 🫨🎬

3 pointsMy first time at the show this year, I’d really like a sticker, that picture helps I’ll try looking for you on that Saturday before I head home.

3 pointsI just made my own. Heavy as heck so no downforce required. @Lee1977 Don had an old DOT wear bar that I cut a 56 inch section from. Worked awesome!

3 pointsThat's what I was thinking. I've found much better used prices on the push style, but not worth it if I'd be cussing it all the time. In my mind, a person could let the drag style float and use your feet if you wanted some down pressure.
-
3 pointsI had the old style (top) liked it but sold it and bought the bigger newer one...Size matters doesn't it. Wish I hadn't. I preferred the old style. I use it on manual lift and am usually spreading evening out not trying to excavate.

3 pointsBetcha the magnets are stuck to the flywheel. Every twin I have had, they come loose and go for a ride around the stator.
-
3 pointsFirst rototill or plow the area several times to kill emergent plants by killing their root system. Cover it with plastic and leave the plastic down, cover it with some heavy landscape fabric and gravel. Do you or anyone near you have a well for drinking water? There is a good reason that a license is required to buy these products, they pose a danger to you and others.

3 pointsLove that song, know all the words. " Evenflo, makes nipple bottles so the babies grow" Pretty sure that's how it goes.
-
3 pointsOr how about part of it? I'll explain the whole thing when I see you down there. But yes that's the plan. Or maybe give it to WHCC to raffle off but only 16 yo and under can buy a ticket. @Pullstart has a rear fender for it plus I'm sure he's up for some tinkering on it too

3 pointsIf that what you’re doing, no problem, I’ll donate it to cause. No charge.

3 pointsA few years ago I just missed seeing the Big Boy when we took the Arkansas to Missouri train tour. (It's a one day outing from Missouri to Arkansas, spent a few hours in Springdale, Arkansas then ride back to Missouri.) The Big Boy was scheduled to arrive shortly after we departed. Some folks on our train stayed overnight in Springdale and returned to Missouri the following day. We have also rode the Durango to Silverton steam train in Colorado. Beautiful ride. Last year we rode the Arcade and Attica Railroad in Arcade, New York. Steam (that they just spent a potfull of money on rebuilding the engine) and a nice little ride. I believe the train was owned buy the local townspeople. Super friendly folks. We rode a train when we took a cruise to Alaska. It was a pleasant ride (and a fellow has to find a way to spend his time on daily tourist town stops). A trestle bridge (first photo) in my layout (middle photo) in the basement was inspired by that ride. One of the most memorable rides was in Thailand. We toured the "Bridge over the River Kwai." Wife and I hired a private tour guide and driver. We visited the museum and cemetery, walked across the bridge, ate lunch on a floating open air restaurant on the river then rode a train one-way whereas our driver picked us up. The photo is black and white because my camera took all the pictures on this trip with bluish color. This is part of the railroad along the river. The 4014 will be passing within 2 hour's drive--maybe I can at least watch it pass by. I watched a video of it being rebuilt and it was very interesting.

3 pointsSaw it today. Incredible to see it up close. RxR tracks come through property at work so we were able to get pretty close as it went by. Nice cause of area being private property nobody from the public was there VID_20260609_110952.mp4

3 pointsThe 418-C was built for commercial users like lawn services and such. It has heavier front wheel bearings, longer spindles, no idiot lights and a bight higher speed. Mine is used for snow plowing and leaf blowing. I have mowed with it but that twin cylinder Kohler uses about 1/3 more gas than the 310-8.
-
2 pointsOriginally it was red, someone has slapped that blue on it for unkown reasons. Easily made red again though.

2 pointsI’m sure I’ve mentioned this, but there is a valve that I will be able to control how much water goes to the roof, how much simply returns to the pool. The supply pipe will feed the bottom of the manifold and has a 2” check valve as well, to keep the system full. Winterizing plans will include this tee to drain the system, and I’ll be able to blow air into the rest to empty the majority. RV antifreeze will be strategically pumped in to prevent any freezing from possible condensate entry too.

2 points@Retired Wrencher thanks for posting your solution to your problem. Doing so helps the rest of us by 'closing the loop'. As @ebinmaine points out " never thought of that". I've seen so many good discussions about problems in many forums where the solution is never posted. Leaves one to wonder what the solution was. I'm chasing a grabby clutch issue on Pack Rat, the AC B-110. The folks on the simpletrACtors forum pointed out the drive pulley has multiple pieces with plastic washers and bushings between them. Those pieces on my machine were worn or missing. I posted a thank you there yesterday.

2 pointsGrass is kind of coming up, I think I compacted it too much and the water is not holding amazing. It’s spotty, but ok. I used a few chunks of unistrut and built a frame on the roof. I used some sticky foam seal between the 1’ strut and the roof, and attached it well. The solar system I built gives me high hopes that people will be in the water sooner than later! It’s about 15’ wide and the runs are 10’ vertically. I can add more width fairly easy, but I want to get it up and running before I make a decision whether to add to it or not. There is a total of 20’ of unistrut width currently, but I can extend that too. The manifold will be piped with “reverse return” piping in mind. It will go in one end of the bottom, and out the other end. The combination of 90s on opposite corners (capped pipes) and tees in the rest of the run will force water to flow evenly through the system no matter how long it is. In theory.

2 pointsGot a couple BIG loads of firewood brought up from down back of the barn. I've never tried to stack as much wood in the trailer as I did today. The first load is taller but has shorter length pieces. The second load felt heavier. I figured for sure that tractor tire traction would be the limiting factor. Nope. The ole beast Cinnamon Horse C160-8 just kept on ah-chuggin'... I was very pleasantly surprised at how well that went. Second load:
