10 pointsI must say I don't even have any play in my steering wheel. I'm very happy with this. But just like the 400 series I had. I'm back on the hook for wheel horses. My wife is like hmm savings account hasn't gotten any bigger. And I'm over here thinking welp it's not any smaller. We doing good baby

8 pointsThis afternoon I decided mow along the side of our county road~about 1/8 mile long. One side is maintained by the land owner, the other not so much. The grass is getting knee high-and much of it taller. Our county roads are chip and seal which is nice and the side I was mowing basically has no ditch. It seems the county only mows once a season. The problem with overgrown grass is the road way appears to be smaller and bi-passing drivers hesitate to pull into the edge of the road. I used the 520H and it completed the task quite well. I don't think our zero turn would have handled the job at hand as efficiently and comfortably. Having the weight on the front end and a steering wheel was an asset. For the past several years, I have also sprayed weed killer around the stop sign because the Johnson grass will block the view of traffic until the nose of the vehicle is nearly on the state highway.

8 pointsAnd shortly thereafter, did the Tire Tube Manufacturers go crying to the Feds for subsidies?? With the mass implementation of turbochargers (and prior use of Catalytic Converters) in domestic vehicles back in the late 1980's, the OEM's saw thw need to change the vehicle exhaust components from mild steel to stainless due to the increased heat. That did not sit well with the three big chains of Muffler Shops, as an exhaust system could now outlast the vehicle. So they petitioned the Gov. for a handout to stay in business. Uncle Sam told them to go punt. Basically it was "So, your Business is centered on under the vehicle parts replacement, right?? Learn how to do brakes & struts instead..."

4 pointsDepending on the model - I find it easier to remove the shifter & fill thru that hole. The 854 is a snap that way, the C81 is not...

4 pointsThe diesel rinse should have worked. Didn’t find any stray metal in the pan, so that’s good. I ran it around in all gears and did lots of turns. I’ll probably change it again before winter, just to be safe, and keep a better eye on the condition. Plus, change it on a more regular basis. Like maybe every 2 oil changes. filling the oil was sort of a pain. I put as much in as I could through the fill plug, until it started running out. Then put the rest in through the dipstick tube. That takes some time.

4 pointsOk walllored this pump all over the place and settled on behind the motor on the frame. Had to make a little adapter plate to get mounted in right direction. I belive there would be enough room under the motion control in tunnel but would require more work than I wanted to do at this time but may revisit if I ever tare down to restore. Could have probably squeezed it in behind rock shaft also but again to much work . Got everything hooked up and got my power from hot side of coil, which if Im not mistaken will allow safety switch’s to kill fuel pump also when triggered. Also used a 10amp inline ATO fuse as soon as I came off coil. The riginal pump was healthy and would squirt your face full of fuel but it would turn over 4 ever before starting if it set for a week or so. She doesn’t turn over but once or twice now before firing . Oh yeah I installed a one way fuel valve right as line comes out of tank also. Thanks for everyone’s pics and comments and maybe this thread might help others down the road.

4 pointsI was in Indiana this past weekend visiting my Mom and my sister lives near Nappanee so of course put this on the schedule. I thought it was a pretty good showing for their first year garden tractor event. This is opposite their big tractor show which is in September. There were more than what I got pictures of, but they are definitely looking to expand this show. IMG_9518.mp4

4 pointsMy 2005 Classic has it under the seat. That spot is filled by the filter on a hydro. The 314-H I no longer have. I was a bit hesitant because of the long fuel line run on my 76 Reborn B-80 but it works great. The Dino C-121

4 pointsPlowing snow! My neighbor and I were both plowing our drives. Me on a C-120 Auto and him on a B-100 8 Speed. I out-plowed him 2 to 1. Consequently he promptly added a Charger 12 Automatic to his collection and loves it for plowing snow. His 8-Speed is definitely better for tilling the gardens.

3 pointsUnfortunately don’t have the documents for proof. Only that whom I bought it from along with a D200, told me that the D was used for mowing and snow plowing the property. The 657 was ordered with the 6 speed knowing it was first time available that year and with Sickle Bar for mowing along the road and around a pond. Also with the light kit HL5. I knew about the 5/6 difference. And I couldn’t refute what the seller told me because as I look over this tractor, it is very clean and original. And can tell not very many hours. For a Tecumseh it runs as good as new. Easiest starting Tecumseh I ever ran. The original paint is the cleanest of any tractor in my herd. In fact the day I picked it up, it was covered with a blanket. It was his Grandpa’s favorite. They seemed wealthy so have no doubts that he was willing to pay extra. Would seem that going with the 867 would have been the route to go, but we can never know what was going on at the dealership in that day. Without actually talking with original owner, perhaps the dealer made the swap. I may have misunderstood the list of models with my original post, for I thought it was referencing the models known to have a 6 speed..by serial number. Now I realize it was highest/lowest known SNs. I added the hubcaps from my collection, I need to swap them out with the proper era ones.

3 pointsMy Wheel Horse Parts and More order arrived on Saturday. Stellar shipping and nice quality parts! I cleaned things up a bit, painted a few parts, and got it mostly assembled today. Tomorrow I will put the back fenders and seat back on, and, weather permitting, get tilling! Then apart again to paint the parts I sandblasted last autumn.

3 pointsAnd DO look in the botton of the pan as you empty it for any "Gee, I don't think these should be here" bits - broken gear teeth, metal particles, or stray loose bearing needles.... Finding those is a game changer.....

3 pointsA few years ago you couldnt give me a hydro Ive only had 2 hydro's a GT14 great mochine but didnt get along with not having a brake and these 520H's with the Eaton 1100 hydro's which I think are the top of the food chain as far as hydro's go. Pushed snow last year with a 1257 4speed but had a HY2 unit installed and it will be very hard to go back to a manual lift and I think that is a big plus with the hydro's as well, hyd. lift

Started filling out the paperwork and I looked over to the pallets that I was about to go fetch and I see this.... Guard cat??!?

3 pointsYep, and that the two sides couldn’t agree on a meeting point so each built miles of track past the other. Gub’ment arm twisting finally settled the location. It was lawyer Lincoln who years earlier had mediated standardization to U.S. track gauge (4’ 8.5”). Before that, there were many track gauges in use as each railroad had chosen its own, partly to avoid having to collaborate in any way that could benefit competitors. The chosen gauge took into account stability of the loaded rail cars, the radius needed for turns (since the steel wheels were, and still are, fixed to the axles--no differentials), and the amount of wood and ballast needed for ties and rail beds over thousands of miles of track.

3 pointsYou are over thinking this situation. The condenser is on the negative side of the coil and has nothing to do with power to the fuel pump. You are just using the positive side wire at the coil as a convenient source of power that will be turned on and off with the keyswitch.

3 pointsIf it has the correct engine for '60 it would be a K91. Only real difference between a K90 and a K91 is the governor setting. 3600 RPMs for a K90 - 4000Rpms for a K91.

3 pointsThe C-121,141, and 161 Automatic was only available in 1978 and 79. The C-141 Auto was just shy of 2,600.00 or roughly 13,168.00 with inflation in 2026 without attachments when it was new. It’s top speed is an eye watering 6 miles an hour.

2 pointsThe plumbers showed up today. Unloaded their mini excavator and waited for all of the utilities folks to mark where their various pipes and wires are located - none of which were in the area where the digging was going to take place. But, tis the law, and better to be safe than sorry. About 6 1/2 feet down, the sewer pipes were located. Big soggy soft spot around the house trap. The trap (clay piece) appeared to have a crack on the inlet side. Lots of buildup in the pipes, suggesting a slow flow for some time. The house trap is now gone, replaced with about 7 feet of 6" PVC and a clean out tee. Back fill is scheduled for tomorrow.

Went and got a fresh 6 gallons of gas and spent some good quality time with my 416-H, regardless of any other machine that I get this one is by far my favorite! The family got me a nice lift kit and fancy wheels and tires for the golf cart so it is looking spiffy, then onto Texas Roadhouse for a fantastic Prime Rib dinner, and spent some nice quiet time with my little guy, couldn’t have been a better day!

2 pointsI always take one or both of the bolts out of top of transaxle to let it breath while filling um back up. Just make sure you don't let any trash fall in through the bolt holes especially on the hydro's

2 pointsMost any place where the suction of the pump will be lower than the bottom of the tank and the fuel hose will be protected from mechanical damage is good. The whole idea is to provide a net positive suction head pressure so the pump won't have to work as hard. They are great pumpers but lousy suckers.

2 pointsHave you determined what you are missing? A gasoline engine needs air, fuel, compression, and ignition. Knowing what is missing will help with a diagnoses. You also mentioned that you thought it may be the starter. Are you unable to turn the engine over with the starter?

2 pointsI wired one to the pink dash lights wire on a 520 so it would be fused by that circuit. Problem is as the pump pulses the (led) lights flicker in tune with the pump. I may move it to the coil but I may have a battery going south too as it kinda goes away at throttle up.
