Found this original Wheel Horse shop coat at the Le Sueur swap meet today.

I was just minding my own business and I get a message request on Messenger. Older gentleman asks me if I would be interested in this 1964 704, his grandpa had bought it new. We chatted and he found me from my many responses on Facebook groups and figured I would be the one that would be able to save it. He told me make an offer. So because I already have too many and a non original 704 already. I made a offer and He said come and get it.. needs carb/fuel pump cleaned up but has spark. Should have it running before Memorial Day Parade. A little cleaning up and Patina will be in great shape. Always garaged and only ever mowed during its life.

Thursday afternoon/evening I got our garden spot plowed. This was the first time I have used the C160 for this (I usually use my Speedex 1631). It did quite well! Since I acquired this C160 in 2018 (I think), I have only used it for tilling and cultivating.

Of course, accompanied with the obligatory registration fees... And, the first 27 people in line at the DMV are still waiting for their tags...

Picked up this C-81 today in Big Indian NY (Catskills). Bit rougher that I was looking for but the price was right! Haven’t run in probably 3 years, so will need a lotta going over. The steering wheel has left the chat . The soup can was removed on the Burger King parking lot near the Newburgh bridge when we stopped for lunch Saw an eagle on the way, very cool! Haven’t ran the numbers but I think it’s a 79.

We spent the night at Iowa 80 Truck Stop, and enjoyed a $17 shower and a trip to the fancy trucker buffet. Pictures of not showering facilities for reference Our morning started at 3:30am today, I practically slept in! The rest of the trip home was uneventful too, and we achieved better fuel mileage with Eloise than with the turd. On the similar return trip before, we hit 8.3 mpg without the genny running, and 7.9 factoring that in. This trip, we calculated 8.63-8.9 mpg at various fill ups along the way. 8.9 mpg for a monster brick like this, and comparing that to 10 mpg for a regular cab 4x4 6.0l gas Chevy 2500HD I used to own, I’d call this excellent!

I have been keeping up with the iron supplement and gaining a lot more energy. Started PT a few weeks back and am well on my way to regaining the strength that was lost while keeping hospital beds warm.

Following a good rain, I took advantage of the soften ground and dragged the driveway. About once a year I stir the gravel. Looks like time to get a load of gravel delivered got a few areas of clay poking through. .

Yep. Welded all the way around both edges. Definitely more work than I wanted but if I ever try this again, this is how I will do it. Nice smooth edges. Won't harm a tube.

The rear wheel have the same bolt pattern but the backset is different. an inch or more deeper 2-1/2 inch vs 1-3/8 for wheel horse. For hydros and some under seat gas tank there can be clearance issues. Tires will rub on stuff.

I knew we were getting into the Midwest, when I saw the orange cap of a Fleet Farm! Tay got some drive time while I rested a couple minutes, but our 800 miles or so required a cat nap I guess. Like @Achto, I usually get my best shut eye behind the wheel!

Overnight the same night we got quite a rainstorm, perfect for settling the plowed garden. Once it dries out I will get it tilled and start planting. Meanwhile, the cabbage plants I babied through the winter have made some nice heads. I took two heads, chopped them, and am making some sauerkraut in a recently-acquired crock. I really like this crock.... it has a water seal between the top of the crock and the lid.... it lets fermentation gasses out, keeps air out. I'll let it ferment for another week or so. Last year I made my first batch of kraut using a food-grade bucket w/lid and a vapor lock in the lid. It turned out WONDERFULLY!

I got 11 years of use out of the Magnum 12 before I changed. It had got tired and was using oil, just needs a rebuild.

Well, one of my cuts got a little off by about 1/4 inch and didn't come out straight. The wheel horse wheel cut great but the other one didn't. So I bent a 1/2 inch wide, 1/8 thick steel bar to line everything up. I scribed a mark .150 along the edge as a guide since one half of the wheel was straight. I used the line as a guide and clamped every inch until I was all the way around the wheel. Then I tacked the other half, working my way around. I repeatedly measured the width as I went, and then filled the inside gap with multiple passes after. The grinder and a flap disc cleaned the inside up nicely. If I ever do another set of these, I absolutely will do it this way. Alignment was much easier and it's probably stronger this way as well.

Been working on something fun: A custom built RC truck with a 3d printed body, inspired by a 70s suburban. Vanquish VS4-10 chassis, well tested motor that's the same as the one in my brother's TRX4, going to be running a set of Falken Wildpeak tires on it, on 1.7" rims to get the clearance right. Going to get a leaf spring kit for the rear axle and keep the front axle coil spring. Still a lot of work but it's going to be super cool when it's done.

315-8 saw a little mowing duty tonight. Kicked up quite a bit on dust, had to hose her down when I was done.

Busy day Wheel Horsing around: Picked up this non running 1054 this morning about 1 hour away from my house. PO said it's been sitting in his garage for 25 years. He has a bunch of Cub Cadets and a couple Cub High Boys that belonged to his father and working to slowly sell. Engine was free, shifted into all gears so I decided to give it a go. Cleaned and flushed the fuel system, had no spark so cleaned the points, added my special tractor fuel and it fired right up. Managed to get the engine oil and trans oil changed before calling it a night. Oh, and bonus, it has a K301 swap. So 2 more HP for future plowing. Doesn't have a seat back, front grill, and start/gen belt cover. More to come on this. I really like to hear guys taking care of the often frowned on verticals. Yes it's not a vintage C-160 but still. Well maybe not frowned on but often neglected and used as throwaways. Keep at it buddy.

Speaking of fuel mileage, here is my brother's malibu. He's owned this car for 15 years or more and just had the motor refreshed. The dad gum carburetor is as big as a briggs and stratton push mower's engine. The driver is my niece. My brother says it scares him to drive it-- anything much quicker than a 520H scares me. She has driven it all these years. Never married because she's too shy. He said he has it de-tuned a little because it's a little more umph than before and I guess he wants he to get used to it. She is wanting him to open it up. At one time he had an engine producing 700 HP. He self funds the car. New heads set him back $2,300. I think new back tires were one thousand--maybe each. This is the run and tune on Wednesdays getting ready for Saturday night. Glad I have Wheelhorse. To getting it running set me back six hundred and I nearly cried like a baby! 1971459591024186479.mp4

The DMV gag now falls flat in NY State! Partly driven by the COVID epidemic, the DMV has dramatically overhauled its DMV with better training, specialization, systems, and management. The last three times I’ve had to go in person (routine transactions like renewals are all now available online) I was at the counter within minutes of my appointment and out of there promptly. The only downsides are that appointments are mandatory and the somewhat higher fees, but I think both were inevitable anyway.

That would be cool for Wild Bill to wear at the parade. I've see vintage pics at Indy 500 and the guys on horses pulling the cars wearing those. They have to be extremely rare. Anything else of interest there Tom?

Short block in '88. Deck is really clean with new blades. Wiring and all safety switches pass initial inspection. Gear oil is low but no water, boot is in good shape. Axle seals aren't leaking. Original Nelson is okay but cracked just a bit where the downpipe enters the can. Headlight is melted but not terrible. Replacement seat. Tires are pretty worn. Overall better than any others I've found lately and it came with a serviceable off-brand yard cart.

Yes. Several years ago. Kids had a long driveway. Made of wood scraps I had lying around. I used 1/2 carriage bolts. I wished I had used grade 8 maybe they wouldn't have bent over.

I had a enlarged parathyroid gland (Tumor) back in 2019-/20 during Covid. Raised my calcium level to dangerous levels. Was a fun time trying to get it taken care of with everything going on. But I had this great woman surgeon and it was a piece of cake to get it removed. Turned out it was benign. As a reward I got a great fresh scar on my neck for my retirement pic from BOCES!

Excellent. Why they chose white as the primary color is beyond me. The grease stains are very apparent, yet give it the air of authenticity. Well done!
